반사형 광센서를 이용한 저가형 SRM 위치검출기법 (A Low Cost Position Sensing Method of Switched Reluctance Motor Using Reflective Type Optical-sensors)

  • SRM은 회전자의 위치에 따라 상권선의 여자시점이 결정되므로 회전자의 정확한 위치정보가 요구된다. 회전자 위치검출을 위해 절대형 엔코더 및 레졸버를 사용할 경우 초기 회전자 위치 검출이 가능하여 초기기동이 가능하지만 경제성을 고려할 때 적절하지 않다. 증분형 엔코더의 경우 초기 회전자 위치 검출이 용이하지 않아 초기기동의 문제가 있고, 홀센서를 이용할 경우 별도의 링마그넷을 부착하여야 하는 단점이 있다. 초기기동과 경제성을 고려할 때 슬롯디스크 및 옵토 인터럽터를 이용한 광센서 기법이 적합하지만, 이 방식은 6/4 pole SRM의 경우 3개의 옵토 인터럽터와 슬롯디스크가 필요하다. 반면에 본 논문에서는 단지 2개의 광센서만을 이용하여 3상 6/4 pole SRM을 구동하였으며 초기기동 및 정·역 운전을 가능하게 하였다. 광센서의 개수를 1개 줄이고 슬롯디스크를 제거함으로써 제작의 편리성과 경제성이 개선되었으며 슬롯디스크 취부면적이 제거되어 모터의 부피도 줄일 수 있었다.

나비목 곤충용 펠렛사료 조제법 개발 (Development of Pellet-type Artificial Diet for Lepidopteran Insect by Using a Twin Screw Extruder)

  • 곤충 사육용으로 개발되어 있는 인공사료는 습체형으로 사료의 조제 및 사육에 많은 노력이 들고 불편함이 있어 본 연구에서는 나비목 곤충용 인공사료의 펠렛화를 시도하였다. 펠렛사료의 제조에는 이축압출기를 이용하였는데 바렐 내의 압력을 높이기 위해 2축의 앞부분에 역스크류를 2개씩 장착하였고, 수차례의 조정 끝에 메인모터 속도 300rpm, 피드모터 속도 228rpm, 사료조제시의 첨가물량 $75m{\ell}/min$로 맞추었고 이때 사출공의 직경은 5mm의 것을 사용하였다. 사용한 사료의 메뉴는 기존의 것을 첨가량 및 첨가비율에서 다소 조정하였으며 최종적으로 사료의 점착성을 개선하기 위한 새로운 조성분으로 젤라틴을 첨가함으로 사료의 물리성을 획기적으로 개선할 수 있었다. 조제된 사료의 적정 수분흡수량을 검토한 결과 사료 무게의 $1.2{\sim}1.5$배의 물을 첨가하는 것이 가장 양호하였다. 이 사료를 파밤나방 및 담배거세미나방에게 각각 공시하여 사육한 결과 전반적으로 기존의 습체형 인공사료에 비해 사육성적이 떨어지지 않아 추후 곤충용 차세대 인공사료로서 조제하여 공급할 수 있을 것으로 판단되어 펠렛사료 조제법을 특허출원 하였다.

방기가 백서 중대뇌동맥 폐쇄에 의한 국소뇌허혈손상에 미치는 보호효과 (Protective Effects of Stephania tetrandra against Focal Cerebral Ischemic Damage by Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion in Rats)

  • Objective : This study was performed to investigate the protective effect of Stephania tetrandra(ST) against ischemic brain damage after a middle cerebral artery(MCA) occlusion. The effect was evaluated using histological tests, neurobehavioral tests, and biochemical tests. Methods : Rats(Sprague-Dawley) were divided into four groups : sham operated group, MCA occluded group, post MCA occlusion Stephania tetrandra administrated (7.6mg/l00g) group, and normal group. The MCA was occluded by intraluminal method. Stephania tetrandra was administrated orally twice at 1 and 4 hours after MCA occlusion. The neurobehavioral test was performed at 3, 6, 9 and 24 hours after MCA occlusion by posture reflex test and swimming behavioral test. All groups were sacrificed then. The brain tissues were stained with 2% triphenyl tetrazolium chloride(TTC) or 1 % cresyl violet solution, to examine infarct size, volume and cell number. Tumor necrosis $factor-{\alpha}$ level was measured from sera using Enzyme-Linked Immunoabsorbent Assay(ELISA). The mRNA expression level of inflammatory cytokines and related receptor type I and II, $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6, and IL-10 6hours after MCA occlusion were also studied by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(RTPCR). Results : The results showed that : Stephania tetrandra (1) reduced infarct size and total infarct volume by 52.2% compared to the control group; (2) attenuated significantly in neuronal death, which was shown by a decrease in cell number(P<0.01) and size(P<0.01) in the boundary area of the infarction; (3) significantly reduced serum $TNF-{\alpha}$ level, and increased the mRNA level of IL-10 in the cortex region(P<0.01). However, there was no significant effect on motor deficit in swimming behavioral test. Conclusions : In conclusion, Stephania tetrandra has protective effects against ischemic brain damage at the early stage of ischemia.

양에서 시행한 이동작동기 형태(MOVING ACTUATOR TYPE) 인공심장의 삽입실험 (Experimental Implantation of Moving Actuator Type Total Artificial Heart in Sheep)

  • We recently developed a new model of moving actuator type totally implantable artificial heart[TIAH , based on the reverse position of the aortic and pulmonary conduits. This concept was proposed by one of surgeons in our team[Joon-Ryang Rho, M.D. to facilitate anatomical fitting of TIAHs. The moving actuator type electromechanical TIAH consisted of the left and right blood sacs, and the moving actuator including a motor. The inverted umbrella type polyurethane valves were used in the blood pumps. The aortic conduit was positioned anterior to the pulmonary conduit, which was the opposite relation to the conventional configuration of other total artificial hearts. We also adapted slip-in connectors for the aortic and pulmonary conduits. Two sheep , weighing 60-69 kg, were used for implantation. After small cervical incision and trans-sternal bilateral thoracotomy, cardiopulmonary bypass [CPB was administered using an American Optical 5-head pump and a membrane oxygenator[Univox-IC, Bentley . The anterior and posterior vena cavae were drained separately for venous return. An arterial return cannula was inserted into the right common carotid artery. During CPB, almost all of the ventricular myocardium was excised down to the atrioventricular groove and the artificial heart was implanted. We achieved 3-day survival in the first sheep and 2-day survival in the second. The day after operation the first sheep was successfully extubated and the second sheep was weaned from a respirator with good condition. After extubation, the first sheep walked around in the cage and fed herself. Serial laboratory and hemodynamic examinations were done during the experiments. In both sheep, pulmonary dysfunction was gradually developed, which was accompanied by acute renal failure. The animals were sacrificed and autopsy was done. Unexpected pregnnacy was incidentally found in both sheep. To our knowledge this is the first report of significant survival cases in the orthotopic implantation of electric TIAH using sheep.

2단 축류홴과 엇회전식 축류홴의 공력특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Aerodynamic Characteristics of a Two-Stage and a Counter-Rotating Axial Flow Fan)

  • Experiments were done for the comparison of performance and flow characteristics between a two -stage axial flow fan and a counter-rotating axial flow fan. Each stage of the two -stage axial flow fan used fur the present study has an eight bladed rotor and thirteen slater blades. The front and the rear rotor of the counter - rotating axial flow fan have eight blades each and are driven by coaxial counter ro latins shafts through a gearbox located between the rear rotor and the electric motor. Both of the two axial fan configurations have identical rotor blades and the same operating condition fur the one -to-one comparison of the two. Performance curves of the two configurations were obtained and compared by varying the blade pitch angles and axial gaps between the blade rows. The fan characteristic curves were obtained following the Korean Standard Testing Methods for Turbo Fans and Blowers (KS B 6311). The fa n flow characteristics were measured using a five-hole probe by a non-nulling method. The velocity profiles between the hub and tip of the fans were measured and analyzed at the particular operating condition s of peak efficiency, minimum and maximum pressure coefficients. The peak efficiency of the counter-rotating axial fan was improved about 2% respectively, compared with the two stage axial fan. At the minimum pressure coefficient point of the two stage axial fan, the fan inlet flow patterns show that axial velocity highly decreased in the vicinity of the blade tip region. Also, the reverse flow took place at the blade tip.

선외기 원격제어시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Remote Control System for Outboard Engine)

  • 현재 근해어업은 기피 산업으로 어민들의 고령화 및 감소로 인력을 구하기 어렵고 어로활동을 하기 위해서는 일반적으로 2명 이상이 1조로 작업이 진행된다. 따라서 숙련되지 못한 사람들이 조를 이루어 작업을 할 경우 의사전달에 시차가 생기고 한사람은 배의 조종에 매달리므로 작업의 능률이 떨어진다. 따라서 레저나 소형어선에서 1인이 선박을 조종하면서 작업이나 레저를 즐길 수 있는 선외기의 원격제어 시스템 연구의 필요성이 대두되었다. 본 연구에서는 작업의 효율을 높이고 인력을 절감 할 수 있는 선외기의 원격제어시스템에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 선외기는 엔진, 조타기, 정 역전 및 중립 기어박스가 하나의 시스템으로 구성되어 있다. 소형 선외기에 이 세 가지의 제어를 직류전동기를 이용하여 위치제어와 속도제어를 하였고, 마이크로컨트롤러를 이용하여 조타기와 엔진회전수 제어를 프로그램화 하여 어민들이 작업을 하면서 동시에 원하는 조종을 할 수 있도록 시스템을 설계 제작하였다. 시운전결과 전속에서 좌 우현 조타 성능이 명령대로 잘 움직였다.

내부 응력이 .06 taper ProFile의 피로 파절에 미치는 영향 (Effect of internal stress on cyclic fatigue failure in .06 taper ProFile)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relation between intentionally induced internal stress and cyclic fatigue failure of .06 taper ProFile. Materials and Methods: Length 25 mm, .06 taper ProFile (Dentsply Maillefer), and size 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 were used in this study. To give the internal stress, the rotary NiTi files were put into the .02 taper, Endo-Training-Bloc (Dentsply Maillefer) until auto-stop by torque controlled motor. Rotary NiTi files were grouped by the number of induced internal stress and randomly distributed among one control group and three experimental groups (n = 10, Stress 0 [control], Stress 1, Stress 2 and Stress 3). For cyclic fatigue measurement, time for separation of the rotary NiTi files was recorded. The fractured surfaces were observed by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM, SU-70, Hitachi). The time for separation was statistically analyzed using two-way ANOVA and post-hoc Scheffe test at 95% level. Results: In .06 taper ProFile size 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40, there were statistically significant difference on time for separation between control group and the other groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: In the limitation of this study, cyclic fatigue failure of .06 taper ProFile is influenced by internal stress accumulated in the files.

Subtotal calvarial vault reconstruction utilizing a customized polyetheretherketone (PEEK) implant with chimeric microvascular soft tissue coverage in a patient with syndrome of the trephined: A case report

  • The syndrome of the trephined is a neurologic phenomenon that manifests as sudden decline in cognition, behavior, and sensorimotor function due to loss of intracranial domain. This scenario typically occurs in the setting of large craniectomy defects, resulting from trauma, infection, and/or oncologic extirpation. Cranioplasty has been shown to reverse these symptoms by normalizing cerebral hemodynamics and metabolism. However, successful reconstruction may be difficult in patients with complex and/or hostile calvarial defects. We present the case of a 48-year-old male with a large cranial bone defect, who failed autologous cranioplasty secondary to infection, and developed rapid neurologic deterioration leading to a near-vegetative state. Following debridement and antibiotic therapy, delayed cranioplasty was accomplished using a polyetheretherketone (PEEK) implant with free chimeric latissimus dorsi/serratus anterior myocutaneous flap transfer for vascularized resurfacing. Significant improvements in cognition and motor skill were noted in the early postoperative period. At 6-month follow-up, the patient had regained the ability to speak, ambulate and self-feed-correlating with evidence of cerebral/ventricular re-expansion on computed tomography. Based on our findings, we advocate delayed alloplastic implantation with total vascularized soft tissue coverage as a viable alternative for reconstructing extensive, hostile calvarial defects in patients with the syndrome of the trephined.

Articulatory Attributes in Korean Nonassimilating Contexts

  • This study examined several kinematic properties of the primary articulator (the tongue dorsum) and the supplementary articulator (the jaw) in the articulation of the voiceless velar stop (/k/) within nonassimilating contexts. We examined in particular the spatiotemporal properties (constriction duration and constriction maxima) from the constriction onset to the constriction offset by analyzing a velar (/k/) followed by the coronal fricative (/s/), the coronal stop (/t/), and the labial (/p/) in across-word boundary conditions (/k#s/, /k#t/, and /k#p/). Along with these measurements, we investigated intergestural temporal coordination between C1 and C2 and the jaw articulator in relation to its coordination with the articulation of consonant sequences. The articulatory movement data was collected by means of electromagnetic midsagittal articulometry (EMMA). Four native speakers of Seoul Korean participated in the laboratory experiment. The results showed several characteristics. First, a velar (/k/) in C1 was not categorically reduced. Constriction duration and constriction degree of the velar (/k/) were similar within nonassimilating contexts (/k#s/=/k#t/=/k#p/). This might mean that spatiotemporal attributes during constriction duration were stable and consistent across different contexts, which might be subsequently associated with the nontarget status of the velar in place assimilation. Second, the gestural overlap could be represented as the order of /k#s/ (less) < /k#p/ (intermediate) < /k#t/ (more) as we measured the onset-to-onset lag (a longer lag indicated shorter gestural overlap.). This indicates a gestural overlap within nonassimilating contexts may not be constrained by any of the several constraints including the perceptual recoverability constraint (e.g., more overlap in Front-to-Back sequences compared to the reverse order (Back-to-Front) since perceptual cues in C1 can be recovered anytime during C2 articulation), the low-level speech motor constraint (e.g., more overlap in lingual-nonlingual sequences as compared to the lingual-lingual sequences), or phonological contexts effects (e.g., similarity in gestural overlap within nonassimilating contexts). As one possible account for more overlap in /k#t/ sequences as compared to /k#p/, we suspect speakers' knowledge may be receptive to extreme encroachment on C1 by the gestural overlap of the coronal in C2 since it does not obscure the perceptual cue of C1 as much as the labial in C2. Third, actual jaw position during C2 was higher in coronals (/s/, /t/) than in the labial (/p/). However, within the coronals, there was no manner-dependent jaw height difference in C2 (/s/=/t/). Vertical jaw position of C1 and C2 was seen as inter-dependent as higher jaw position in C1 was closely associated with C2. Lastly, a greater gap in jaw height was associated with longer intergestural timing (e.g., less overlap), but was confined to the cluster type (/kp/) with the lingual-nonlingual sequence. This study showed that Korean jaw articulation was independent from coordinating primary articulators in gestural overlap in some cluster types (/k#s/, /k#t/) while not in others (e.g., /k#p/). Overall, the results coherently indicate the velar stop (/k/) in C1 was robust in articulation, which may have subsequently contributed to the nontarget status of the velar (/k/) in place assimilation processes.
