  • The objective of this study was to purpose korean medicine treatment for paraplegia and hypoesthesia after spinal cord infarction, and report its effectiveness. We treated a 74-year-old male patient diagnosed with spinal cord infarction using various methods, including acupuncture, herbal medication, moxibustion, physical therapy, western medication. We evaluated patient's motor ability using the manual muscle test (MMT), active range of motion (AROM), walking index for spinal cord injury II( WISCI II) and sense ability using International Standards for Neurological Classification of Spinal Cord Injury (ISNCSCI). After treatment, motor and sense ability of patient was improved after treatment. The MMT, AROM, WISCI II scores and ISNCSCI scores were numerically improved. According to these results, this study suggested effectiveness of combined Korean medical treatment for spinal cord infarction. However, More studies are required in the future.

  • PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference and relationship between sensory processing abilities, gross motor and fine motor capabilities in children with cerebral palsy. METHODS: 104 children with cerebral palsy participated in the study. Sensory processing abilities of the subjects were measured by Short Sensory Profile (SSP). Gross and fine motor abilities were each measured using the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) and Manual Ability Classification System (MACS), respectively. RESULTS: There were significant correlations between SSP level and GMFCS (R=.72, p<.00) or MACS (R=.77, p<.00) levels. Significant differences were showed each gross motor (p=.01) and fine motor level (p=.00) among sensory processing level of children. In addition, sub-items of sensory processing as Tactile sensitivity, Movement sensitivity, Auditory filtering and Low energy/Weak were significantly were showed significant correlations gross motor and fine motor level (p=.01). Also, multiple regression result was showed that as MACS level and GMFCS level were higher, the SSP total score was higher all of participants (adjusted $R^2=.62$). CONCLUSION: Sensory processing abilities of children with cerebral palsy were related with gross motor and fine motor capabilities. Also gross motor and fine motor capabilities are as higher, the sensory processing skill was well of cerebral palsy.

  • The study of PLL System to control the Speed of three phase induction motor is described. By solving some problems of conventional PLL system, the system has ability to be easily locked under any conditions. In order to study response velocity and stability of system, this paper presents different filter types and methods of determination of time constant.

  • Objective : The aim of this study is to verify the effects of group sensory integrative intervention for sensory motor ability, behaviors in children with developmental delay. Method : The subjects were five children with developmental delays aged between 3 and 5. All Children participated in 26 sessions of group sensory integrative intervention. Children' behavior during testing was observed to assess the sensory motor ability, behaviors, the clinical observation. One group pretest- posttest design was used to verify the effect of group sensory integrative intervention. The observed children' behavior during testing were tested by the Wilcoxon matched-pair signed rank test. Results : There is no significant difference in the clinical observation between pre and post intervention. However, subjects showed the significant difference in Social interaction(Z=-2.121, p=.034), Attention(Z=-2.032, p=.042), total score in Behavior during testing(Z=-2.032, p=.042). Conclusions : The result in this study suggested that the sensory integrative intervention is effective in facilitating the social skills and improving the attention and behaviors. On the other hand, there is no effect in sensory motor ability. It is difficult to generalize the conclusion because the number of the subject was limited and the environmental confounding factors has not been controlled. Therefore, it is needed to supplement these limitations in the future study.

  • Several techniques have been adopted in motor design of interior permanent magnet (IPM) type brushless DC (BLDC) motor to minimize cogging torque. IPM type motor has better ability in the centralization of flux than surface-mounted permanent magnet (SPM) type BLDC motor. So, the structure of IPM type BLDC motor has high saliency ratios that produce additional torque. However, this structure has a significant cogging torque that generates both vibration and noise. This paper describes new technique of the flux barriers design for reduction of cogging torque of IPM type BLDC motor. To reduce the cogging torque, flux barriers are applied in the rotor. Changing the number of barrier, the cogging torque is analyzed by finite clement method(FEM).

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of aquatic rehabilitation program on gross motor function measure and balance in children with cerebral palsy. Methods : Subjects of this study, among the children who received the diagnosis cerebral palsy, for children total of 14 people have agreed to research. Cerebral palsy of 14 chilidren were applied to aquatic rehabilitation program. The training courses 30 minutes 3 times weekly, examined the changes in gross motor function ability to examine a total of 4-week course effectively. Result : The results of this study is First, 14 cerebral palsy appeared a significant difference in GMFM-C, GMFM-D and GMFM-E(p<.01). Secondly, 14 cerebral palsy appeared a significant difference appeared in the balance capability after the experiment(p<.01). Conclusion : It is possible that the application of aquatic rehabilitation program is to effective in improvement of gross motor function measure and balance ability to children with cerebral palsy.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate effect of open kinetic chain exercise on the motor function of the lower limb in middle school soccer players. Method: The subjects consisted of 14 soccer players who attend middle school in Gwangju. All subjects received open kinetic chain exercise for 3 weeks. The muscle strength of the ankle was measured by a commander muscle tester. Postural control ability was measured using a hopping test. All measurements for each subject were conducted pre-intervention and 3 weeks post-intervention. Result: There were significant differences post-intervention in the muscle strength and-the postural control ability of the open kinetic chain exercise group(p<.05). Conclusion: Open kinetic chain exercise had a significant positive effect on the motor function of the lower limb in soccer players. Therefore, open kinetic chain exercise may prevent and resolve injury with careful management while soccer players are training or playing games. It could be helpful to extend the lives of athletes and improve their records.

  • Purpose : N.A.P.(Neuromuscular Skeletal Plasticity) an integrative neuro-orthopedic concept to facilitate motor strategies in daily life. The primary thesis is, that treatment of body functions and structural impairments should be integrated within goal-oriented activities. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate that the functional activity itself, determines the structure. Material and Methods : A case report of a dentist with brachial plexus lesion after a motor vehicle accident is presented. The necessity for training body functions within relevant tasks is undermined by references which emphasize the importance of training realistic activities to enhance long-term changes in neural representation. Results : The treatment methods presented in this case show significant effects for the patient's ability to participate in his profession within less than a year's time after his motor vehicle accident. Conclusions : Current evidence supports the treatment methods of this concept. The inability to flex his elbow and supinate his forearm placed a considerable doubt to his ability to ever be able to participate in his profession again. Structural reorganization is possible and depends on functional demands, which need to be trained task-specifically. Single case reports may serve as the basis for further randomized controlled studies to support the efficacy of the treatment methods within the N.A.P. concept.

  • This paper describes the simulation approaches employed for a vector control system of induction motor drive using SIMNON for windows program. SIMNON program tool can solve differential and difference equations for nonlinear dynamical control system. One powerful feature is its ability of allowing integration of individual program modules after each individual module is programed and tested independently. This particular feature is exploited here for an SVPWM inverter drive by real-time modeling and simulation. The suggested programs are provided a simple and complete simulation for induction motor vector drive system.
