In this paper, we addressed a modeling for the magnetic levitation stage. This planar magnetic levitator employs four permanent magnet liner motors. Each motor generates vertical force for suspension against gravity, as well as horizontal force for propulsion. Therefore. this stage can generate six degrees of freedom motion by the combination of forces. We derived a mechanical dynamics equation using Lagrangian method and electromechanical dynamics equation by using Co-energy method. Based on the derived dynamics, we can analyze the stage motion that is subject to the input currents and forces.
A precision micro-positioning system with a high displacement resolution and wide motion range has been required for industrialized applications in variety fields. This paper discusses the design of a precision micro-rotation stage with flexure hinges. Proposed system is applied to grinding machine for micro parts. Rotational motion is generated with this system. For this systems having a full rotation motion with high precision, a dual servo system with a coarse stage and a fine stage is proposed.
This paper describes the algorithm which extracts moving vehicles from sequential images and tracks those vehicles using Kalman filter. This work is composed of a motion segmentation stage which extracts moving objects from sequential images and gets features of objects, and a motion estimation stage which estimates the position and the motion of moving objects using Kalman filter. In the motion estimation stage, applying to affine motion model we divided the Kalman filter into position filter and velocity filter to employ linear Kalman filter. Multi-target tracking requires a data association component that decides which measurement to use for updating the state of which object. We use pattern recognition method to solve this problem.

The dynamic simulation of machine tools and motion control systems has been widely used for optimization, design verification, control design, etc. There are three main streams in dynamic simulation: structural dynamic analysis based onthe finite element method, dynamic motion analysis based on equations of motion, and control system analysis based on transfer functions. Generally, one of these dynamic simulation methods is chosen and employed for specific purposes. In this study, an integrated dynamic simulation is introduced, in which the structure, motion, and control dynamics are combined together. Commercially well-known software is used in the integrated dynamic simulation: ANSYS, ADAMS, and Matlab/Simulink. Using the integrated dynamic simulation, the dynamics of a magnetic bearing stage is analyzed and the causes of oscillation and noise are identified. A controller design for suppressing a flexible dynamic mode is carried out and verified through the integrated dynamic simulation.

Aerostatic planar XY stages are frequently used as the main frames of precision positioning systems. The machining and assembly process of the rails and bed of the stage is one of first processes performed when the system is built. When the system is complete, the 2D position, motion, and stage flatness errors are measured in tests. If the stage errors exceed the application requirements, the stage must be remachined and the assembly process must be repeated. This is difficult and time-consuming work. In this paper, a method for estimating the errors of a planar XY stage is proposed that can be applied when the rails and bed of the stage are evaluated. Profile measurements, estimates of the motion error, and 2D position estimation models were considered. A comparison of experimental results and our estimates indicated that the estimated errors were within $1{\mu}m$ of their true values. Thus, the proposed estimation method for 2D position and flatness errors of an aerostatic planar XY stage is expected to be a useful tool during the assembly process of guideways.
A robust minimum-time control (RMTC) strategy is addressed and it is extended to the dual-stage servo design. Rather than conventional switching type sub-optimal controls, it is a reference following control approach where the predetermined minimum-time trajectory (MTT) is tracked by the perturbation compensator based feedback controller. First, the minimum-time trajectory for a mass-damper system is derived. Then, the perturbation compensator to achieve robust tracking performance in spite of model uncertainty and external disturbance is suggested. The RMTC is also applied to the dual-stage positioner which consists of coarse actuator and fine one. To best utilize the actuation redundancy of the dual-stage mechanism, a null-motion controller to actively regulate the relative motion between the two stages is formulated. The performance of RMTC is validated through simulation and experiment.

For a vision-based driver assistance system, unusual motion detection is one of the important means of preventing accidents. In this paper, we propose a real-time unusual-motion-detection model, which contains two stages: salient region detection and unusual motion detection. In the salient-region-detection stage, we present an improved temporal attention model. In the unusual-motion-detection stage, three kinds of factors, the speed, the motion direction, and the distance, are extracted for detecting unusual motion. A series of experimental results demonstrates the proposed method and shows the feasibility of the proposed model.

This paper presents the new method for a six-degree-of-freedom (DOF) motion measurement and those dynamic characterizations in an ultraprecision linear stage using angle sensor-implemented grating interferometry. It consists of a diffractive optical element, a corner cube, four separate two-dimensional position sensitive detectors, four photodiodes and auxiliary optics components. From the previous study, it was confirmed that the proposed optical system could measure a six-DOF motion error in a linear stage. In this article, six-DOF motion dynamic characteristics of the stage were investigated through the step response and with respect to the conditions with a different speed of a slide table. As a result, the natural frequency and damping ratio according to a six-DOF direction was obtained. Also, it was seen that the speed of slide table had an significant effect on a six-DOF displacement motion, especially, X, which was considered as the effect of friction mechanism and local elastic mechanical deformation in a slide guide.
Due to the limitations of onshore wind power, the wind power industry is currently transitioning to offshore wind power. There has been active research on the development of a floating LiDAR system (FLS) that is easy to install at a low cost. The Carbon Trust published a commercialization roadmap for FLS in 2013, and an updated version was released in 2018, taking into account industry experience. The roadmap divides the development maturity of FLS into three stages: Stage 1 (prototype), Stage 2 (pre-commercialization), and Stage 3 (commercialization), each of which requires availability and accuracy assessment. The results must meet the requirements of the Key Performance Index (KPI) for each stage. Therefore, when developing FLS, the motion compensation algorithm of the FLS is essential because the LiDAR can produce incorrect measurements of wind speed and direction due to the six degrees of freedom in motion. In this study, we implemented the FLS motion compensation algorithm developed by Nassif, F.B. et al. and validated it using data provided by Fraunhofer. In conclusion, the results showed that the determination coefficients of wind speed and wind direction were improved compared to those obtained from the met mast.
