This study was conducted to investigate whether the moisture variation aspects in pavement materials can be analyzed based on the convenient and reliable relative humidity(RH) measurement techniques. First, the ambient RH was measured using various sensors and the accuracies and calibration methods of the sensors were examined. Then, the RH of a cement mortar specimen was measured using the reliable sensors and the data was analyzed. In addition, the feasibility of using the RH measurement sensors to analyze the permeability of pavement materials was investigated. From this study, it was found that the Hygrochron was the most appropriate sensor to measure the RH of pavement materials, and the proper installation and calibration methods were developed. The RH of the cement mortar specimen tended to approach the ambient RH and was not much affected by the variation of the ambient RH. The specimen's RH variations at the surface and at the center showed a clear time lag. The RH measurement sensor was also found to be an appropriate tool for water permeability tests, and the methodologies to evaluate the permeability of pavement materials were proposed.
In response to the carbon emission reduction trends and the depletion of natural sand caused by the use of cement in construction works, graphene oxide and porous feldspar were applied as countermeasures in this study. By using (3-aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane-functionalized graphene oxide with enhanced bond characteristics, a concrete specimen was prepared with 5% less cement content than that in a standard mortar mix, and the compressive strengths of the specimens were examined. The compressive strengths of the specimen with (3-aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane-functionalized graphene oxide and porous feldspar and the specimen with standard mixing were 26MPa and 28MPa, respectively, showing only a small difference. In addition, both specimens met the compressive strength of cement mortar required for geotechnical structures. It is believed that a reasonable level of compressive strength was maintained in spite of the lower cement content because the high content of pozzolans, namely SiO2 and Al2O3, in the porous feldspar enhanced the reactions with Ca(OH)2 during hydration, the nano-sized graphene surface acted as a reactive surface for the hydration products to react actively, and the strong covalent bonding of the carboxyl functional group increased the bonding strength of the hydration products.

Since the 3D printing mortar is exposed to the atmosphere immediately after printing, moisture is largely evaporated from the surface of the layer. The evaporation of moisture on the surface of the layer greatly causes drying shrinkage and increases the risk of cracking and damage to the structure due to drying shrinkage. This study experimentally evaluated the shrinkage behavior of the initial age using the mortar used for 3D printing. The change in shrinkage was evaluated by comparing the shrinkage of the specimen cured by the sealing method and the atmospheric exposure method. In addition, compared with the case where type 1 cement was used 100%, the shrinkage amount was evaluated when 20% of fly ash was replaced and 10% of silica fume was used. In particular, the effect of three chemical admixtures applied using 3D printing on shrinkage was evaluated experimentally. When fly ash and silica fume were used, the shrinkage amount increased by 60 - 110% compared to the case when type 1 cement was used. The application of viscosity modifiers and shrinkage reducers reduced the shrinkage by at least 18% and at most 70% depending on the curing conditions. The temperature of the specimen temporarily decreased to 15 ℃ at the beginning of curing, and the correlation between the internal temperature of the specimen and the shrinkage behavior was observed.
In this study, experimental research was carried out to evaluate the constructability and seismic performance of high strength R/C exterior beam-column joints regions, with or without the shear reinforcement, using high ductile fiber-reinforced mortar. Five specimens of retrofitted the exterior beam-column joint regions using high ductile fiber-reinforced mortar are constructed and tested for their retrofit performances. Specimens designed by retrofitting the exterior beam-column joint regions (BCJNSP series) of existing reinforced concrete building showed a stable mode of failure and an increased its maximum load-carrying capacity by 1.09~2.03 times in comparison with specimen of BCJNS due to the effect of enhancing dispersion of crack control at the time of initial loading and bridging of fiber from retrofitting new high ductile materials during testing. Specimens of BCJNSP series attained its maximum load carrying capacity by 0.92~0.96 times and increased its energy dissipation capacity by 1.62 times when compared to standard specimen of BCJC with a displacement ductility of 4.
The ortho- and iso- type unsaturated polyester resins were synthesized and used as a polymer binder of the polymer mortar composite. Styrene monomer and acrylonitrile were used as a diluent for the unsaturated polyester resin. Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKPO) and cobalt octoate (CoOc) were used as a curing agent and an accelerator, respectively. Four kinds of unsaturated polyester resins were prepared according to types of the resin and diluent, and used as a polymer binder in the preparation of the specimen. A total of 16 polymer mortar specimens were prepared according to the added amount of the polymer binder and subjected to a hot water resistance test, followed by compressive and flexural strength tests, and pore and SEM analyses. As a result, it was found that the strength of the specimen using the iso-type unsaturated polyester resin as the polymer binder was better than that of using the ortho-type unsaturated polyester resin. The total pore volume and diameter measured after the hot water resistance test were reduced compared to the values before the test. In the micrographs observed before the hot water resistance test, the polymer binder, filler and fine aggregate were firmly combined to the co-matrix, but the polymer binder was mostly decomposed in the micrographs observed after the test.

This research analyzes the properties of mortar following the rise in water-cement ratio and applicability as an eco-friendly construction supply by using the mudflats of a dredged arena as a substitute for aggregate. The results of a experiment of the flow showed that the flow value decreases as the amount of mudflats increases. A test for chloride content showed that the chloride content increases with the amount of mudflats. In the compression of specimen mixed with mudflat and the testing of tensile strength, the strength weakened as the addition ratio of mudflats rose. However, with 14-day strength as the standard, most specimen showed more strength than the plain, and 14-day strength was higher than 28-day strength. It appears to be experimental error in the mixing process from the viscosity and cohesion of mudflats, and it is considered that there will be a need for an experiment on mixing methods of mudflats in the future. The compressive strength of this research was the strongest with 70% in water-cement ratio, and the tensile strength was strongest with 80% in water-cement ratio. In the evaluation of surface analysis, 70% water-cement ratio, which is finest in strength, mixing, and compactness, was selected to analyze the roughness of the surface, and the results showed that the surface became smoother as the addition ratio of mudflats increases. In conclusion, it appears that 70% water-cement ratio is the optimal mixing ratio for mortar and 10 to 30% addition ratio of mudflats the optimal ratio. It also appears that the application of interior finishing material like bricks and tiles and interior plastering material using the mudflats are possible.
Two types of conductive materials are selected and their applicable properties are investigated so as to give the capability of self-diagnosis of fracture in composite mortar, concrete and reinforced concrete. In this study, for giving selfdiagnosis capability, the powder of cokes and milled carbon fiber as conductive materials are selected and intermixed with mortar, concrete and reinforced concrete. After examining change in the value of electric resistance before and after the occurrence of cracks at each flexural load-stage in composite mortar, concrete or reinforced concrete, the relationships of each factors (electric resistance, crack and flexural load) are analyzed. As the results, it can be recognized that conductive materials with powder of cokes and milled carbon fiber can be applied for self-diagnosis of flexural fracture in composite mortar, concrete and reinforced concrete specimen.
This paper contains the experimental performance evaluation results of bond-type anchorage systems with the CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced polymer) tendon. The preliminary tests were performed to find the appropriate filling materials in the steel molds. A total of five materials including epoxy or cement mortar have been used as fillers in the steel molds. Results of the preliminary tests showed that specimen filled with non-shrinkage mortar showed maximum tensile strength. Based on the finding, the non-shrinkage mortar was selected as filler for anchoring CFRP tendons. Additional tests were performed as a parametric study to select proper size of steel molds such as external diameter, thickness, and length. The proper size of steel molds with non-shrinkage mortar was selected based on the test results, which gave stable tensile performance.

The purpose of this study is to identify the manufacturing possibility of non-cement mortar using blast furnace slag and alkali accelerator. In this experimental study, the blast furnace slag which is the by-product of the steel industry substitute for cement, and the potassium hydroxide(KOH), calcium hydroxide ($Ca(OH)_2$) and sodium hydroxide(NaOH) as stimulus were added to each specimen. And the analysis on reaction property of non-cement mortar was conducted by measurement such as flexural and compressive strength, XRD, EDS and SEM. From the test results, it can be founded that $SiO_2$ and CaO included in the blast furnace slag are released and make the calcium silicate hydrate like the hydration reaction of the cement. Also, the continued study is need to reduce emission of $CO_2$ because of major content in filed of the building construction.
Very limited studies have been accomplished concerning the historical structures around Harran area. Collected mortar samples from the historic structures in the area were tested to explore their mechanical, chemical and mineralogical properties. Mortar samples from three different points of each historical structure were taken and specified in accordance with the related standards taking into consideration their mechanical, chemical and mineralogical properties. By means of SEM-EDX the presence of organic fibres and calcite, quartz, plagioclase and muscovite minerals has been examined. Additionally, by means of XRF analysis, oxide ($SiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, and $Fe_2O_3$) percentages of mortar ingredients have been specified, also. According to the test results obtained, it was confirmed that the mortars had densities ranging between $1.51-2.10g/cm^3$, porosity values ranging between 8.89-35.38% and compressive strengths ranging between 5.02-5.90 MPa. Specimen HU, which has the highest durability and lowest water absorption and porosity, was the mortar taken from the most intact building in the mosque complex. This result is most likely due to the very little fine aggregate content of HU. In contrast, HUC mortars with a small amount of fine particles and brick contents yielded slightly lower compressive strengths. The interesting point of this study is the mineralogical analysis results and especially the presence of ettringite in these historic mortars linked to the use of pozzolanic materials. Survival of these historic structures in Harran Area through centuries of use and, also, having been subjected to many earthquakes can probably be explained by these properties of the mortars.
