For the purpose of taxonomical description of marine oligotrich ciliates, water samples were collected from the southern coast of Korea (Masan Bay and Jangmok Bay). Ciliate cells were identified based on protargol impregnated specimens. As a result, four oligotrich ciliates were identified and redescribed: Rimostrombidium conicum (Kahl, 1932), Omegastrombidium kahli Song et al., 2009 and Spirotontonia turbinata (Song and Bradbury, 1998), and Spirotontonia grandis (Suzuki and Han, 2000). Of them, R. conicum, O. kahli, and S. turbinata are newly recorded and S. grandis is recorded for the second time in Korea, while the last one is redescribed to compare its variations according to locality. In addition, their abundances were analyzed and discussed the changes in accordance with water temperature and salinity.

Al doped Zinc Oxide, which is widely used as a transparent conductor in opto-electronic devices. In this paper, we find that the lateral variations of the parameters of the ZnO:Al films prepared by the rf magnetron sputtering can be reduced to acceptable levels by optimising the deposition parameters. The effect of bias voltage on the electrical, optical and morphological properties were investigated experimentally. we investigated sample properties of Bias Voltage change in 0 to 50 V.

The micorstructural characteristics, particularly $\alpha$-halo formation, in semi-solid state processed hypereutectic Al-Si alloy was investigated. The microstructural changes during reheating of wedge type mold cast ingot, hot-rolled sheet, and Si particulate reinforced Al composite was compared with those occurred during stirring of semi-solid state hypereutectic alloy. In the case of semi-solid state reheating of wedge type ingot and hot-rolled sheet, fine particles of Si as well as $\alpha$-halo formed after heat treatment. Although there seemed to be no coarsening with variations of holding time, the region of $\alpha$-halo decreased due to homogenization. Nucleation and recrystallization was accelerated with the addition of alloying elements during hot rolling resulting in primary Si particle size decrease and $\alpha$-halo formation. In the case of extruded specimens, very little morphological change of reinforcing Si particles was observed. Almost no $\alpha$-halo formed during reheating because of the oxide film formed on the reinforcing Si particles which acted as a diffusion barrier between the matrix and the primary Si particles.
The Fucales plants have very homogenous taxonomic characteristics at order level, but show many morphological variatations at species or subspecies levels. This study is one of the serial works to obtain more taxonomic data than morphotaxonomic ones and to clarify the taxonomic ranks and characteristics of Korean Fucales plants through physiological and biochemical analyses. Total lipid compositions of Korean Fucales plants were analyzed by the 3-dimensional TLC method. Major components of phospholipids (PA, PC, PG, PE, DPG, LPE, LPC), neutral fat TG and sterols were commonly contained in each species. Unknown lipids X1, X2 and X3 were contained in genus Sargassum, but Hizikia was lacking X3 and Myagropsis was lacking both X2 and X3. The latter contained unique X8. From the view-point of the phylogeny of lipid metabolism, Sargassum might be more closely related to Hizikia than to Myagropsis. A variant of S. patens from Seongsan showed minute metabolic difference from that of the typical plant; but a variant of S. serratifolium did not show any significant difference from that of the typical plant.
Taxonomic confusion has been presented within freshwater crayfishes of the genus Cambaroides since Starobogatov published morphological definition and revision of the group in 1995. He suggested that Cambaroides should be revised: the C. dauricus, contained three species C. dauricus, C. wladiwostokiensis, and C. koshewnikowi; the C. schrenckii with two. species C. schrenckii and C. sachalinensis. Also Straovogatov did not take into account the previous data. of crayfish distributions. In order to. clear up the confusion, the taxonomy of crayfish sampled from Mongolia, Russia, China, and North Korea was reassessed. Starovogatov's key could not lead to the correct identification. Also, detailed observations of apical robe of the male first pleopod did not support the taxonomy on the genus Cambaroides proposed by Starobogatov in 1995. However, some local variations of morphology exist in rostrum, pleuron, and telson of Asian crayfish. Future studies should be concentrated on whether there are geographical clines of morphology or if taxonomic subdivision is necessary.
A small cyclopoid copepod M. subtilis (Giesbrecht, 1893 ["1892"]) belonging to the genus Monothula $B{\ddot{o}}ttger-Schnack$ and Huys, 2001 was collected by using $60{\mu}m$ mesh net and firstly recorded in the epipelagic layer of the equatorial Pacific Ocean. We redescribed its morphological characteristics for both female and male, comparing with those of previous studies. Specimens of M. subtilis from the equatorial Pacific Ocean differ from those previously reported by others in terms of the length of the seta G on antenna, being much shorter than setae E and F; in the distal spine on the swimming leg 4, being longer than the length of the third segment on P4. The outer spine of the P3 enp-3 in male is slightly over the tip of conical process. The spine lengths of the distal endopods of P2-P4 for both sexes showed variations among individuals, and the proportions of spine lengths in female are higher than those in male.
Since the floating goby, Choenogobius onnuloris, has intricate and diverse morphological variations, allozymic analysis at 25 loci was carried out for their populations in Korea to clarify its taxonomic status. A genetic assay carried out revealed that the floating gobies were clearly divided into three genetic groups (Tvpe-A, Tvpe-B and Tvpe-C) in Korea. Alternative alleles were fated at six loci (Aco, 6pgd, Ldh-1, Got-1, Gpf, Gp3l. Some loci had considerable heterogeneitv among three types and no evidence of gene exchange in slunpatric populations was found from statistical analyses. The genetic similarity (Rogers'S) among three types was lower than 0.80 and divergent time estimate indicates that they were speciated during 1.2-1.8 million year before present (WBP). ASso, these three types of C. unnuluris were distinguished morpholosicallv from each other by several characters such as band ornamentations. In conclusion, the evidences presented here support recognition of three types of Chuenogobius annularis as typical discrete species.
Ambiguity in the root morphology of the mandibular second molars is quite common. The most common root canal configuration is 2 roots and 3 canals, nonetheless other possibilities may still exist. The presence of accessory roots is an interesting example of anatomic root variation. While the presence of radix entomolaris or radix paramolaris is regarded as a typical clinical finding of a three-rooted mandibular second permanent molar, the occurrence of an additional mesial root is rather uncommon and represents a possibility of deviation from the regular norms. This case report describes successful endodontic management of a three-rooted mandibular second molar presenting with an unusual accessory mesial root, which was identified with the aid of multiangled radiographs and cone-beam computed tomography imaging. This article also discusses the prevalence, etiology, morphological variations, clinical approach to diagnosis, and significance of supernumerary roots in contemporary clinical dentistry.
In this study, cytochrome c oxidase subunit I(COI) sequences of 17 individuals from six Korean diogenid species(i.e., 2 Areopaguristes japonicus, 4 A. nigroapiculus, 3 Paguristes digitalis, 4 P. ortmanni, 3 Diogenes edwardsii, and 1 Ciliopagurus kempfi) were determined and analyzed. The DNA barcoding results of this study were consistent with the morphological identification of these six species. Interspecific variations of COI sequences within six Korean diogenid species exceeded the minimum interspecific variation of diogenid hermit crabs in previous studies. Little intraspecific variation exists except for P. digitalis. This study should facilitate further molecular taxonomy of East Asian diogenids.
In this paper, I lay the foundation for creating a multiscale atlas that characterizes cerebrovasculature structural changes across the entire brain of a mouse in the Knife-Edge Scanning Microscopy dataset. The geometric reconstruction of the vascular filaments embedded in the volume imaging dataset provides the ability to distinguish cerebral vessels by diameter and other morphological properties across the whole mouse brain. This paper presents a means for studying local variations in the small vascular morphology that have a significant impact on the peripheral nervous system in other cerebral areas, as well as the robust and vulnerable side of the cerebrovasculature system across the large blood vessels. I expect that this foundation will prove invaluable towards data-driven, quantitative investigations into the system-level architectural layout of the cerebrovasculature and surrounding cerebral microstructures.
