The research is to track the morphological transformation of residential towers of apartment complexes in Busan. Though apartment is one of the most important components in Korean society, it has not drawn enough attention from academia as well as the public, especially regarding its shape. In result, its morphological change has barely been recognized. Instead, negative, but superficial, evaluation has become dominant tendency to deal with the shape of apartment tower. There are numerous 'partial' evidences to inform the morphological change of apartment plan type, and understanding the change is critical since morphological resultant reflects culture, politics, economy of a society. The research has been done on the 261 apartment complexes built through 2016 in Busan. The analysis shows that $I^0$ type, to represent 'typical boring architectural shape' of Korean apartments, has been dominant until the year 2000. However, its portion has become drastically decreased since the mid-2000. Composite plan type, the geometrical precedents of which had never been existent, emerged in the mid-2000, and this phenomenon may symbolize the change of morphology of apartment. When tower plan types are grouped together according to geometrical shape, three types, I-type, L-type and Y-type, take the most of residential towers, explaining 97% of the total. As expected, I-type is the most dominant, but its influence has decreased as time passes. Y-type might become one of the most important type in the period V. L-type has become the leading type in the Period VI to exceed I-type by 12 percent.
The plant "Hong-do-go-deul-ppae-gi" has been considered as Crepidiastrum × muratagenii, a hybrid between C. denticulatum and C. lanceolatum, based on its morphological traits and geographical distribution. To reveal the hybrid origin of Hong-do-go-deul-ppae-gi, we examined additional morphological traits of this plant and its putative parents (C. denticulatum, C. lanceolatum, C. platyphyllum) and analyzed one nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and four chloroplast regions (trnT-L, trnL-F, rpl16 intron, and rps16 intron). As a result of examining the morphological traits, putative hybrid individuals were classified into three types based on the habit, cauline leaf, outer phyllary, and achene beak traits. A molecular analysis found that the ITS sequences of Type 1 and Type 2 individuals showed additive species-specific sites of C. denticulatum and C. lanceolatum. Plastid sequences of Type 1 and Type 2 individuals showed C. denticulatum and C. lanceolatum sequences, respectively. However, Type 3 individuals had ITS and plastid sequences corresponding to C. denticulatum. Accordingly, Type 1 and Type 2 individuals not only share morphological traits with C. denticulatum and C. lanceolatum but also show additive species-specific sites for C. denticulatum and C. lanceolatum, and not C. platyphyllum, supporting its origin as a hybrid between C. denticulatum and C. lanceolatum. Type 3 had morphological traits similar to other hybrid types but was distinguished with respect to outer phyllaries and demonstrated some resemblance to C. denticulatum. In a molecular analysis, Type 3 was found to be identical with regard to the sequence of C. denticulatum and was judged to be an ecological variation of C. denticulatum.

This study explores the causes and processes of morphological transformation of apartment complexes in Busan. All apartment complexes built until the year 2016 were selected for statistical analysis, drawing/map examination, field observation, selected expert interviews based on 6 periodical groups: Period I(~1990), Period II(1991~1995), Period III(1996~2000), Period IV(2001~2005), Period V(2006~2010), and Period VI(2011~2016). The research argues for three 'arrangement' types, P1U, L1U and P2U, which have dominated the whole periods occupying 88% of the total 260 complexes. The switch of the leading type represents for morphological transformation of apartment complexes. Four aspects, density(F.A.R.), height(maximum number of floors), deformed-building-type ratio, and building-orientation, have affected the change of 'arrangement' types. Density was the major cause of the arrangement-type switch, from P1U to L1U, on Period II(1991~1995). The morphological change, from type L1U to P2U, on Period V(2006~2010) was caused by height and orientation, and is correlated with the increased number of deformed-type buildings. The first phase morphological change on Period II(1991~1995) was resulted by the supply side of apartment. However, the second phase transformation on Period V(2006~2010) had gone through the complex process including reflection of consumers' demands. The significance of research is to reveal the morphological transformation process of apartment complexes through analytical investigation of the entire apartment data in Busan. The result shows that the major change of urban paysage started to occur from Period V(2006~2010), and the superficial evaluation on apartment 'being monotonous and repetitive' may not be proper at least from the perspective of town plan.

The purpose of this thesis is to analyse modem urbanization process and the morphological transformation of the urban tissues in Kunsan between the you 1899 and 2001, The method of this study is to investigate the transformation process of morphological elements such as plot structure, building layout, building facades, land use, exterior space structure and their use, with actual field surveys, the analysis of land registration maps in 1912, and various topological map. Morphological analysis on modern Kunsan is progressed by three steps-typo-morphological analysis of urban tissue in old-town area, interpretation of morphological process, and transformation process, of morphological structure in Japanese concession in view of plots system. As a result, it is found that there is cyclical relationship among the morphological transformation processes of morphological elements, plots, buildings, land-uses, and access space to buildings. From the view of town plan change, the period of restoration of war damage in 1950s and compressive growing period in 1960s have important meaning in the morphological process of old-town area. Particularly the first building plan and layout type together with plot form and structure is acted as the main factor to decide the subsequent plot transformation system, exterior space system and the particular streetscape in Kunsan.
Three morphological types of the genus Metagonimus were found encysted in the dace, Tribolodon tacganowskii, caught from the Sumjin River, Korea. They include Metagonimus Yokogawa type (M. yokogawai) , Miyata type, and Koga type according to Saito's classification. The metacercariae were experimentally fed to rats and hamsters and a total of 1,624 Metagonimus worms were recovered from their small intestine. The number of each type was 820 for Yokogawa type, 688 for Miyata type, 46 for Koga type, and 70 undetermined. The major differential keys between Yokogawa and Miyata types were in the position of two testes, distribution of uterine tubules, and size of the eggs, and the keys between Miyata and Koga types were in the position of two testes, distribution of vitelline follicles, and size of the eggs. The validity of Miyata type as a specific level should be retained until more convincing evidences are obtained. Koga type is regarded as a synonym of M. takahashii. The present results reveal that there are 3 morphological types of Metagonimus whose larvae are encysted in the dace, T. tacganowskii, from the Sumjin River. Key words: Metagcnimus yokogawai, morphological types, rats, hamsters, dace ( Tribolodon tacxanowskii) , Sumjin Rver.
A morphological andk histochimical study on the amterior tintacular antenna of Korean sulg, Incilaria fruhstorferi was conducted under the light microscopic observations. The histological sturctures of the antenna were apparently divided into three parts such as the epithelium, the connective tissues and the muscular layers. The cells forming the antenna were classified into several types on the basis of their morphological and histochemical characteristics. The simple columnar epithelium cotering the whole antenna was composed of supporting cells, sensory neurons and type-a clear cells. The connective tissue was consisted of dispersed large cells, type-b clear cells and 7 types of secretory cills such as type-A, type-B, type-F, thpe-G, type-H, type-J and type-K. The large cells found in the form of group situated only in the stalk of the antenna. The large cells possessed relatively small nuclei as compared with their cytoplasm. The cytoplasm positively reacted upon alcian blue, and the nucleus was PASpositive. The type-a and type-b clear cells which were irregular in shape showed no evident reaction against various stains employed in the present study. The secrtory cells were observed mainly in the connective tissues and in the muscular layers. Histochemical components of the type-A, type-B and K were identified as acid mucopolysaccharides and those of type-F and H were neutral mucopolysaccharides. The muscular layders supporting the epithelium possessed the type-B and F secretory cells which were also observed in the connective tissues.
The type of a given sentence indicates the speaker's attitude towards the listener and is usually determined by its final endings and punctuation marks. However, some 6na1 endings are used in several types of sentences, which means that we cannot identify the sentential type by considering only the final endings and punctuation marks. In this paper, we propose methods of finding some other linguistic clues for indentifying the sentential type with a morphological analysis. We also propose to use these methods to implement a system that automatically classifies sentences in Korean according to their sentential types.

X-ray plasma ejections often occurred around the impulsive phases of solar flares and have been well observed by the SXT aboard Yohkoh. Though the X-ray plasma ejections show various morphological shapes, there has been no attempt at classifying the morphological groups for a large sample of the X-ray plasma ejections. In this study, we have classified 137 X-ray plasma ejections according to their shape for the first time. Our classification criteria are as follows: (1) a loop type shows ejecting plasma with the shape of loops, (2) a spray type has a continuous stream of plasma without showing any typical shape, (3) a jet type shows collimated motions of plasma, (4) a confined ejection shows limited motions of plasma near a flaring site. As a result, we classified the flare-associated X-ray plasma ejections into five groups as follows: loop-type (60 events), spray-type (40 events), jet-type (11 events), confined ejection (18 events), and others (8 events). As an illustration, we presented time sequence images of several typical events to discuss their morphological characteristics, speed, CME association, and magnetic field configuration. We found that the jet-type events tend to have higher speeds and better association with CMEs than those of the loop-type events. It is also found that the CME association (11/11) of the jet-type events is much higher than that (5/18) of the confined ejections. These facts imply that the physical characteristics of the X-ray plasma ejections are closely associated with magnetic field configurations near the reconnection regions.

We investigate the intraspecific morphological variations and geographical distributions from twelve populations (28 samples) of Orobanche coerulescens in Korea. Two main morphological types were detected, i.e., glabrous (G-type) and pilose (P-type), in the external morphology (stem, leaf, bract, calyx, and corolla). The G-type was found on Ulleung-do and Dok-do, and the P-type was observed on the coasts of South Korea, Jeju-do and Ulleung-do. The distinct difference in the morphological types and geographical distribution suggested the existence of two putative lineages with different distribution processes. O. coerulescens, distributed in very limited areas, was only identified as the G-type on Dok-do. Hence, conservation efforts should focus on protecting native habitats to conserve native species and the unique biogeographic significance of this species.
We present simulations of the optical-band images of high-redshift galaxies utilizing 845 near-ultraviolet (NUV) images of nearby galaxies obtained through the Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX). We compute the concentration (C), asymmetry (A), Gini (G), and $M_{20}$ parameters of the GALEX NUV/Sloan Digital Sky Survey r-band images at z ~ 0 and their artificially redshifted optical images at z = 0.9 and 1.6 in order to quantify the morphology of galaxies at local and high redshifts. The morphological properties of nearby galaxies in the NUV are presented using a combination of morphological parameters, in which early-type galaxies are well separated from late-type galaxies in the $G-M_{20}$, $C-M_{20}$, A-C, and $A-M_{20}$ planes. Based on the distribution of galaxies in the A-C and $G-M_{20}$ planes, we examine the morphological K-correction (i.e., cosmological distance effect and bandshift effect). The cosmological distance effect on the quantitative morphological parameters is found to be significant for early-type galaxies, while late-type galaxies are more greatly affected by the bandshift effect. Knowledge of the morphological K-correction will set the foundation for forthcoming studies on understanding the quantitative assessment of galaxy evolution.
