  • IoT is a new emerging technology to lead the $4^{th}$ industry renovation and has been widely used in industry and home to increase the quality of human being. In this paper, IoT based face detection and recognition system for a smart elevator is developed. Haar cascade classifier is used in a face detection system and a proposed PCA algorithm written in Python in the face recognition system is implemented to reduce the execution time and calculates the eigenfaces. SVM or Euclidean metric is used to recognize the faces detected in the face detection system. The proposed system runs on RaspberryPi 3. 200 sample images in ORL face database are used for training and 200 samples for testing. The simulation results show that the recognition rate is over 93% for PP+EU and over 96% for PP+SVM. The execution times of the proposed PCA and the conventional PCA are 0.11sec and 1.1sec respectively, so the proposed PCA is much faster than the conventional one. The proposed system can be suitable for an elevator monitoring system, real time home security system, etc.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of sanitary education, knowledge, and management practice of shop employees(SE) and workplace employees(WE) working at window bakeries. SE & WE were grouped according to their job titles, duration of duty, and frequency of sanitary education, and sanitary knowledge and sanitary management practice level of the groups were analyzed, divided into personal hygiene, facility & workplace hygiene, and ingredient & preparation hygiene. Frequency of hygiene education of employees working at window bakeries was less than 3 times a year. The average sanitary management practice level of WE was higher than that of SE. The sanitary knowledge of SE was low at ingredient& preparation hygiene among the general managers and the employees who had worked more than 5 years. And that of WE was low among the general managers, interns and the employees who had worked more than 5 years. The sanitary management practice level of SE was low among the interns and the employees who had worked for less than 1 year, and that of WE showed no significant difference on job titles and duration of work. The employees who had no sanitary training showed a low management practice level overall among the SE and at ingredient & preparation hygiene among the WE. Therefore, continuous hygiene education and monitoring accompanied by making a manual with hygiene education data for SE and WE working at window bakeries are needed.

  • Recently, because the interest and needs in privacy protection are growing, smartcard-based remote user authentication schemes have been actively studied to provide the user anonymity. In 2008, Kim et al. first proposed an authentication scheme in order to ensure the user anonymity against both external attackers and the remote server and track malicious users with the help of a trusted trace sever. However, in 2010, Lee et al. showed that Kim et al.'s scheme cannot provide the user anonymity against remote server, which is because the server can trace users without any help of the trace server, and then proposed a improved scheme. On the other hand, in 2010, Horng et al. proposed an authentication scheme with non-tamper resistant smart cards, in which the non-tamper resistant smart card means that an attacker may find out secret information stored in the smart card through special data analysis techniques such as monitoring power consumption, to be secure against a variety of attacks and to provide the user anonymity against external attackers. In this paper, we will propose a remote user authentication scheme with non-tamper resistant smart cards not only to ensure the user anonymity against both external attackers and the remote server but also to track malicious users with only the help of a trusted trace sever.

  • The residual amount of 160 kinds of pesticide for multi-analysis methods were analyzed in Baechu cabbages throughout the year by GC/MS. We investigated the 160 kinds of pesticide residues in commercial Baechu cabbages monthly from October 2007 to September 2008. Over the 12 months, the residues were detected in the Baechu cabbages harvested and distributed only in July, August, October and November. The residual amounts were 0.01 ppm Bifenthrin, 0.04 ppm Chlorfenapyr, and 0.03 ppm Bifenthrin in July, October, and November, respectively, and 0.01 2 ppm Bifenthrin in August. All residues were below MRL. These results indicate that the commercial Baechu cabbages are comparatively safe from pesticide residues.

  • In Arabidopsis thaliana, the microtubule-associated protein AtMAP65-1 shows various functions on microtubule dynamics and organizations. However, it is still an open question about whether AtMAP65-1 binds to tubulin dimers and how it regulates microtubule dynamics. In present study, the tubulin-binding activity of AtMAP65-1 was investigated. Pull-down and co-sedimentation exp eriments demonstrated that AtMAP65-1 bound to tubulin dimers,at a molar ratio of 1 : 1. Cross-linking experiments showed that AtMAP65-1 bound to tubulin dimers by interacting with $\alpha$-tubulin of the tubulin heterodimer. Interfering the bundling effect of AtMAP65-1 by addition of salt and monitoring the tubulin assembly, the experiment results indicated that AtMAP65-1 promoted tubulin assembly by interacting with tubulin dimers. In addition, five truncated versions of AtMAP65-1, namely AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$N339 (amino acids 340-587); AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$N494 (amino acids 495-587); AtMAP65-1 340-494 (amino acids 340-494); AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$C495 (amino acids 1-494) and AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$C340 (amino acids 1-339), were tested for their binding activities and roles in tubulin polymerization in vitro. Four (AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$N339, $\Delta$N494, AtMAP65-1 340-494 and $\Delta$C495) from the five truncated proteins were able to co-sediment with microtubules, and three (AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$N339, $\Delta$N494 and AtMAP65-1 340-494) of them could bind to tubulin dimers in vitro. Among the three truncated proteins, AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$N339 showed the greatest activity to promote tubulin polymerization, AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$N494 exhibited almost the same activity as the full length protein in promoting tubulin assembly, and AtMAP65-1 340-494 had minor activity to promote tubulin assembly. On the contrast, AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$C495, which bound to microtubules but not to tubulin dimers, did not affect tubulin assembly. Our study suggested that AtMAP65-1 might promote tubulin assembly by binding to tubulin dimers in vivo.

  • Because cable-supported bridges have long spans and large members, their movements and geometrical changes by temperatures tend to be bigger than those of small or medium-sized bridges. Therefore, it is important for maintenance engineers to monitor and assess the effect of temperature on the cable-supported bridges. To evaluate how much the superstructure expands or contracts when subjected to changes in temperature is the first step for the maintenance. Thermal movements of a cable-stayed bridge in service are evaluated by using long-term temperatures and displacements data. Displacements data are obtained from extensometers and newly installed GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receivers on the bridge. Based on the statistical data such as air temperatures, each sensor's temperatures, average temperatures and effective temperatures, correlation analysis between temperatures and displacements has been performed. Average temperatures or effective temperatures are most suitable for the evaluation of thermal movements. From linear regression analysis between effective temperatures and displacements, the variation rate's of displacement to temperature have been calculated. From additional regression analysis between expansion length's and variation rate's of displacement to temperature, the thermal expansion coefficient and neutral point have been estimated. Comparing these parameters with theoretical and analytical results, a practical procedure for evaluating the real thermal behaviors of the cable-supported bridges is proposed.

  • The habitat suitability is an important factor to estimate the distribution and size of the physical habitat in river. This suitability is also a key factor to decide the ecological flow discharge for the fish. For the ecological analysis in river, accurate values of habitat suitability index for various fishes are necessary. In general, fish habitat is affected by the physical factor of the flow depth and velocity as well as the chemical and biological factors of nutrient and attached algae. Thus, the condition of the fish habitat is expected to be changed with each watershed and tributary. In this study, the habitat suitability indices for fishes were proposed by using the field monitoring data in the rivers of the Han and Geum river watersheds. The proposed indices for three fishes are compared: Zacco platypus, Zacco temminckii, and Coreoleuciscus splendidus. The results show that Zacco platypus has a similar distribution of habitat suitability index in two watersheds. Zacco temminckii and Coreoleuciscus splendidus, however, have different distributions with watersheds. Also, for Zacco platypus, the developed indices at three tributaries of the Han river are compared: Cheng-mi stream, Dal stream, and Hong-cheon stream. The comparision shows that the index in the Cheng-mi stream is different with those in the other rivers. This is expected to be because of a high nutrient concentration at the Cheong-mi stream.

  • This study attempts to propose a priority of national nutrition targets and strategies for health promotion by the year 2000 in Korea, as a part of the task set for national health promotion objectives and strategies. Among all of the important health issues raised, ten were chosen, nutrition was one priority area. In the first part, the current status of the nutrition-related health problems and risk factors are reviewed, in conjunction with the newly arisen health phenomena, such as changes in prevalence of lifestyle disease and causes of death, changes of food consumption patterns in our country. In the second section this study suggests six feasible national nutrition targets, eight implementing strategies and current major tasks on the basis of the assessment of present status and in consideration of the other health promotion goals and strategies, with reference to that of other developed countries. The main targets and strategies are suggested as follows ; Firstly, the national nutrition monitoring and surveillance system should be established for identifying the nutritional problems for our people, and current National Nutrition Survey is a strong need for improvement to a more comprehensive and reliable one. Secondly, effective administrative mechanism should be operation at national level for the development of nutrition policy. Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) as well as local health department must be remarkably renewed and strengthened the nutrition section. And it is recommended that MOHW organize and operate “The Council of Nutrition”, in which all government authorities related with foodstuffs and nutrition would incorporated. The Council of Nutrition would act as an adjustor as well as a coordinator in nutrition related policy-making. Thirdly, healthy eating pattern will be supported by activities of introducing a nutrition labeling for providing consumers with the necessary information and skills for food selection. Fourthly, nutrition education, and nutrition intervention programs will be carried out in various settings such as health centers, schools, and clinical fields and workplace. Fifthly, the current dietary guidelines shall be continuously improved in detail, and publicly circulated to particular levels of people by age group and by health condition. And finally, researches and epidemiological studies particularly in regard to diet for development of chronic diseases are needed for more investigation and up-to-date national health and nutrition data should be collected with the support and cooperation from the various medical professional teams . • In order to obtain baseline data for the development of an educational program on breastfeeding, a survey was carried out to investigate infant feeding practices, the characteristics the subjects have in common, and the factors that influence the feeding methods among women in Seoul and the Chungbuk area. Subjects included 671 lactating mothers who visited public health centers or pediatric clinics between December 1999 and February 2000, and were interviewed using a questionnaire. The results were as follows : With respect to feeding methods, the incidence of breastfeeding, formula feeding, mixed feeding and formula feeding switched from breastfeeding was 20.6%, 29.8%, 11.6%, and 38.0%, respectively. With respect to the characteristics the subjects had in common, the incidence of women who planned their infants' feeding methods before pregnancy, during pregancy, and after delivery was 48.7%, 31.0%, and 20.3%, respectively. The incidence of women who started breastfeeding in the hospital after delivery was 38.8%. About seventy seven percet of the subjects had not previously attended an educational program on breastfeeding, and most of these wanted to participate in the future in an educational program to learn about breastfeeding. Some of the topics they were interested in were“Nutritional Management for Sufficient Breast Milk”(60.3%),“Breast Care”(25.0%), and“Correct Nursing Positions”(9.8%). Most (88.2%) of the women who breastfeed suffered from physical discomforts including discomfort of the waist, and legs and discomfort due to cracked or sore nipples. “Insufficient breast milk”was the main reason for breastfeeding cessation or for switching to formula feeding. With respect to formula feeding practices, the main reasons for selecting a specific brand of formula were“the same brand the hospital used after delivery”(34.3%) and“an advertised brand”(23.3%). The strongest factor for promoting breastfeeding was“the support of husband or parents”, next were “breastfeeding in the hospital after delivery”and“planning to breastfeed before pregnancy”in that order. The characteristics the subjects had in common relating to formula feeding were“mother's job”,“high economic level”,“Caesarian section”and “planning to breastfeed after delivery”. In conclusion, it is recommended that breastfeeding be pro-moted, and educational programs be developed and offered as soon as possible to each group which had unfavorable attitudes toward breastfeeding. In addition, the monitoring and supervision of formula advertisements is required to protect consumers from the adverse effects of exaggerated advertising.
