  • 철강 산업에 있어서 CO2 배출량 감소는 중요한 이슈이며, CO2 배출 감소를 위해 코크스를 일부 대체할 수 있는 탄재 연료의 연구는 필요하다. 한편, 바이오매스 연료는 고정 탄소를 일부 함유하고 있으며, 반탄화 공정을 통해 연료내 탄소의 함량을 증가시킬 수 있다. 바이오매스 연료 중 커피박은 약 55 mass%의 탄소를 함유하고 있으며, 국내에서 연간 약 27만 ton이 매립 또는 소각되고 있다. 또한, 연간 커피 소비량의 증가로 인한 재활용 공정에 관한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 반탄화 공정을 통한 커피박 내 고정 탄소의 농도에 미치는 온도의 영향을 연구하였다. 또한, 반탄화 커피박의 용해 실험을 통해 금속 샘플 내 탄소 농도와 용해 효율에 대한 코크스와 혼합비의 영향을 조사하였다.

Laser powder bed fusion 공정으로 제조된 오스테나이트계 316L 스테인레스 강의 고온 산화 거동 (High Temperature Oxidation Behavior of 316L Austenitic Stainless Steel Manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion Process)

  • In this study, the high-temperature oxidation properties of austenitic 316L stainless steel manufactured by laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) is investigated and compared with conventional 316L manufactured by hot rolling (HR). The initial microstructure of LPBF-SS316L exhibits a molten pool ~100 ㎛ in size and grains grown along the building direction. Isotropic grains (~35 ㎛) are detected in the HR-SS316L. In high-temperature oxidation tests performed at 700℃ and 900℃, LPBF-SS316L demonstrates slightly superior high-temperature oxidation resistance compared to HR-SS316L. After the initial oxidation at 700℃, shown as an increase in weight, almost no further oxidation is observed for both materials. At 900℃, the oxidation weight displays a parabolic trend and both materials exhibit similar behavior. However, at 1100℃, LPBF-SS316L oxidizes in a parabolic manner, but HR-SS316L shows a breakaway oxidation behavior. The oxide layers of LPBF-SS316L and HR-SS316L are mainly composed of Cr2O3, Fe-based oxides, and spinel phases. In LPBF-SS316L, a uniform Cr depletion region is observed, whereas a Cr depletion region appears at the grain boundary in HR-SS316L. It is evident from the results that the microstructure and the high-temperature oxidation characteristics and behavior are related.

전기로 제강분진의 재활용과정에서 발생된 Clinker의 전기로에서의 가열용해에 의한 자원화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Resource Development by Heat Dissolution in Electric Arc Furnace of Clinker generated in the Recycling Process of Electric Arc Furnace Dust)

  • In general, when scrap is dissolved in an electric arc furnace, the amount of electric furnace steel dust (EAFD) generated is about 1.5% of the scrap charge amount, and the electric furnace steel dust collected by the bag filter is charged into the Rotary Kiln or Rotary Hearth Furnace (RHF), and the zinc component is recovered as crude zinc oxide, at which time a clinker of Fe-Base is generated. In this research, first, for the efficient resource conversion of electric furnace steel dust, a reduction and roasting experiment was conducted and the reaction kinetics was examined. As a result of the experiment, it was observed that the reduction and roasting reaction was actively conducted in the range of 1100~1150℃, and melting occurred in the range of 1250℃. In the past, this clinker was widely used as a roadbed material for road construction and an Fe-Source for cement production, but in recent years, it has been mainly reclaimed due to strengthening environmental standards. However, landfill treatment is by no means a desirable treatment method due to environmental pollution caused by leachate, expensive landfill costs, and waste of Fe resources. Therefore, in order to more actively recycle the Fe component in the clinker, first of all the clinker was pulverized into an optimal particle size, and anthracite and binder (starch) were added to the magnetic material obtained by specific gravity and magnetic separation for briquet. As a experimental results, it was possible to efficiently separate clinker as Fe component and other slag component by specific gravity and magnetic force. As a results of loading and dissolving the manufactured briquet clinker in an electric arc furnace, it was observed that the unit of power and production yield were clearly improved and the carbon addition effect in molten metal was also somewhat.

LiCl-KCl 용융염 내에서 10 g 규모의 Zircaloy-4 폐 피복관 처리를 위한 전기화학적 용해 연구 (Studies on the Electrochemical Dissolution for the Treatment of 10 g-Scale Zircaloy-4 Cladding Hull Wastes in LiCl-KCl Molten Salts)

  • 전해정련을 이용한 폐 피복관 처리의 타당성을 살펴보기 위하여, $500^{\circ}C$의 LiCl-KCl 용융염 내에서 표면이 산화된 10 g 규모의 Zircaloy-4 피복관 및 순수한 Zircaloy-4 피복관의 전기화학적 거동을 살펴보았다. 산화된 Zircaloy-4 피복관이 담긴 basket을 작업전극으로하여 전압-전류 관계를 측정한 결과, 산화되지 않은 Zircaloy-4 피복관과 비교해 Zr의 산화 peak는 Ag/AgCl 기준 전극 대비, 약 -0.7 V ~ -0.8 V로 유사한 반면, 산화 전류의 크기는 확연하게 감소하는 것으로 나타난다. 이러한 결과는 -0.78 V의 일정전위를 가한 전기화학적 용해 실험에서 살펴본 전류-시간 곡선에서도 유사하게 나타나며, 피복관 조각들의 평균 두께 및 무게 변화로부터 확인할 수 있다. Zircaloy-4 피복관이 산화되었을 경우, 표면의 산화막이 피복관의 전도성에 영향을 주어 basket 내 위치에 따라 전기화학적 용해의 균일성 및 속도를 떨어뜨리는 것으로 나타나지만, 표면의 미세한 결함과 Zr 산화물의 상 특성으로 인해 전기화학적 용해가 진행되는 것으로 판단된다.

용융금속 프로브용 규조토 내열보호관의 제조 및 특성연구 (Study on Characteristics and Manufacture of Heat-Resisting Diatomite Protection Tube for Probe Used in Steelmaking Process)

  • 규조토를 주원료로 사용한 서로 다른 조성비의 세라믹 슬러리를 압출성형하여 내열보호관을 제조하고, 기계적 강도, 미세구조, 탄소분석을 하였다. 입도가 $50\~100\;{\mu}m$ 다공성 규조토를 $60wt\%$로 고정하고, 조성물 변수로써 유$\cdot$무기바인더로 silica sol$(4.3\~7.3\;wt\%)$, CMC(Sodium CarboxyMethyl Cellulose $(6\~9\;wt\%)$) 및 paper powder$(4.7\~7.7\;wt\%)$$1\;wt\%$씩 변화시켜 최적의 배합비를 얻었다. 시편의 특성을 조사한 결과, 규조토 $60\;wt\%$에 silica sol $5.3\;wt\%$, CMC $7\;wt\%$를 첨가하였을 경우, 꺽임강도 7.12 MPa, 탄성율 1090 MPa, 압축강도 1.47 MPa, 탄소 $2.3\;wt\%$ 이하로 철강산업에서의 온도$\cdot$성분측정 및 sample 채취를 할 수 있는 용융금속 프로브용 규조토 내열보호관을 제조할 수 있었다.

Mod.9Cr-1Mo강의 항온변태시 기계적 특성변화에 미치는 Cr탄화물의 영향 (Influence of the Cr-Carbides on the Mechanical Characteristics during Isothermal Heat-Treatment of the Mod.9Cr-1Mo Steel)

  • In this study, mechanical tests and microstructural analyses including TEM analyses with EDX of precipitates in modified 9Cr-1Mo steel were carried out to determine the cause of embrittlement observed after heat-treatment, which limits the usage of the alloy for power plants. Mod. 9Cr-1Mo steel specimens at austenite temperature were quenched to the molten salt baths at $760^{\circ}C$ and $700^{\circ}C$, in which the specimens were kept for 10 min ~ 10 hr with subsequent air-cooling. Impact tests showed that the impact value dropped abruptly when the specimens were kept longer than 30 min at $\sim760^{\circ}C$ reaching to minima in about 1 hr, and then increasing at further retention. The tensile strength of the specimens reached the minimum value without much change afterward, whereas the values of elongation showed the same trend as that of the impact value. The isothermally heat-treated steel at $700^{\circ}C$ also showed a minimum impact value in about 1 hr. These results suggest that the isothermal heattreatment at 760 and $700^{\circ}C$ for about 1 hr induces temporal embrittlement in Mod. 9Cr-1Mo steel. The microstructural examination of all the specimens with extraction replica of the carbides revealed that the specimens with temporal embrittlement had $Cr_2C$, indicating that the cause of the embrittlement was the precipitation of the $Cr_2C$. In addition, TEM/EDX results showed that the Fe/Cr ratio was 0.033 to 0.055 for $Cr_2C$, whereas it was 0.48 to 0.75 for $Cr_{23}C_6$, making the distinction of the $Cr_2C$ and $Cr_{23}C_6$ possible even without direct electron diffraction analyses.

차체부품 개발을 위한 원격 CO2 레이저 용접에 관한 연구 (A Study on Remote CO2 Laser Welding for the Development of Automobive Parts)

  • The Remote welding system(RWS) using $CO_2$ laser equipment has focusable distance of laser beam longer than 800 mm from workpiece and can deflect the laser beam by the scanner mirrors very rapidly. In the case of normal welding system based on robot, there is a limit to move the shortest path in short time and this causes interference between robot and workpiece. On the other hand, RWS is the optimized equipment to get big merits with advanced sequence of welding and short cycle time. However, there is still a pending task such as the control of plasma in the welding process of thick sheets therefore, it requires high power laser beam because of the absence of assist gas equipment in itself. In this study, high-tensile steel plates were overlap welded with $CO_2$ RWS for the production of car body and the influence of penetration depth according to the existence of assist gas was analyzed. Excellent tensile strength with enough width of molten zone independent to penetration depth was observed under welding condition with 3.6 kW laser power and 2.8 m/min welding speed without assist gas. Finally, the proto-type automotive parts were produced by applying the deduced optimal welding condition.

용융개질 전기로슬래그의 시멘트 혼화재로서 특성 (Properties of Reformed Electric Arc Furnace Slag as Cement Admixtures)

  • 철강산업 부산물 중 고로슬래그는 시멘트혼화재로 재활용되고 있지만 제강 슬래그들은 주로 골재로서 활용되고 있다. 본 연구는 전기로 산화슬래그를 대상으로 용융상태에서 철을 환원시켜 개질한 후 물로 급랭하여 제조된 비정질 슬래그를 시멘트 혼화재로 활용하고자 하였다. 개질된 전기로 산화슬래그는 고로수쇄슬래그 보다 분쇄성이 높았으며, 고로슬래그와 개질산화슬래그를 혼합하여 제조한 슬래그 시멘트의 모르타르 실험결과 고로슬래그에 대한 개질산화슬래그 대체율 20%까지는 비교시험체의 98%에 해당하는 압축강도 특성을 나타냈다.

  • Molten Core Concrete Interaction (MCCI) is a complex process characterized by concrete ablation and volatile generation; Thermal and solutal convection in a bubble-agitated melt; Physico-chemical evolution of the corium pool with a wide solidification range (of the order of 1000 K). Twelve experiments have been carried out in the VULCANO facility with prototypic corium and sustained heating. The dry oxidic corium tests have contributed to show that silica-rich concrete experience an anisotropic ablation. This unexpected ablation pattern is quite reproducible and can be recalculated, provided an empirical anisotropy factor is assumed. Dry tests with oxide and metal liquid phases have also yielded unexpected results: a larger than expected steel oxidation and unexpected topology of the metallic phase (at the bottom of the cavity and also on the vertical concrete walls). Finally, VULCANO has proved its interest for the study of mitigation solutions such as the COMET bottom flooding core catcher.

冷間壓廷鋼板의 Aluminizing에 對한 速度論的인 硏究 (A Study on the kinetics of Aluminizing of Cold rolled Steel Sheets)

  • The Rates of formation and heats of activation for the intermatallic Compound Layers between Cold rolled sheet and molten aluminium &ath (adding small amounts of silicon) has been determined by Continous aluminizing method in the temperature range of 680$^{\circ}$ to 760$^{\circ}C$ and with immerssion time. The structure of the intermetallic Compound Layers was the shape of "Tongues" in pure Al-Bath and Al-Bath Containing 1% Si, But in Al-5% Si Bath was "Band" the Composition of the intermetallic Compound Layers were checked by microhardness measurements and X-Ray probe micro analyzer. FeAl intermetallic Compound layer was found to be uniform in pure Al-Bath and Al-5% Si Bath, But Fe Al intermetallic Compound Layer was shown in Al-1% Si Bath. The growth Rates of the intermetallic Compound Layers was most rapidly increased at Temperatures from 720$^{\circ}$ to 760$^{\circ}C$, at the immorsion time above 60 Second in pure Al-Bath, But in Al-1% Si Bath was solwly increased for the same conditions, and then in Al-5% Si Bath was hardly effected by these experimental condition. Heasts of activation of 29, 46 Kcal per mole which calculuted from Layer growth experiments were found in pure Al-Bath, Al-1% Si Bath respectively.
