Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate the dimensional accuracy of digital dental models constructed from cone-beam computed tomographic (CBCT) scans of polyvinyl siloxane (PVS) impressions and cast scan models. Materials and Methods: A pair of PVS impressions was obtained from 20 subjects and scanned using CBCT (resolution, 0.1 mm). A cast scan model was constructed by scanning the gypsum model using a model scanner. After reconstruction of the digital models, the mesio-distal width of each tooth, inter-canine width, and inter-molar width were measured, and the Bolton ratios were calculated and compared. The 2 models were superimposed and the difference between the models was measured using 3-dimensional analysis. Results: The range of mean error between the cast scan model and the CBCT scan model was -0.15 mm to 0.13 mm in the mesio-distal width of the teeth and 0.03 mm to 0.42 mm in the width analysis. The differences in the Bolton ratios between the cast scan models and CBCT scan models were 0.87 (anterior ratio) and 0.72 (overall ratio), with no significant difference (P>0.05). The mean maxillary and mandibular difference when the cast scan model and the CBCT scan model were superimposed was 53 ㎛. Conclusion: There was no statistically significant difference in most of the measurements. The maximum tooth size difference was 0.15mm, and the average difference in model overlap was 53 ㎛. Digital models produced by scanning impressions at a high resolution using CBCT can be used in clinical practice.

$Pb(Zr,\;Ti)O_3$ (PZT) is a piezoelectric material applied in a typical actuator and has been actively studied. However, in order to overcome the limitations of PZT, piezoelectric ceramics comprising mixed solid solutions of PZT with various relaxer electric materials have been studied. The $Pb(Zn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})-Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})-Pb(Zr,\;Ti)O_3$ (PZN-PNN-PZT) piezoelectric ceramic, known to have high piezoelectric constant and electromechanical coupling coefficient, was studied herein. The piezoelectric characteristics with various Zr contents (Zr/Ti ratios), PZN molar ratios, and sintering temperatures were compared. The piezoelectric properties of $d_{33}=580pC/N$ and $k_P=0.68$ were obtained with the $0.1PZN-0.2PNN-0.7PbZr_{0.46}Ti_{0.54}O_3$ composition sintered at $1,290^{\circ}C$.
Nanocrystalline $TiO_2$ spherical particle (NP) with a dimension of 5 ${\times}$ 5.5 nm and several nanorods (NR) with different aspect ratios (diameter ${\times}$ length: 5 ${\times}$ 8.5, 4 ${\times}$ 15, 4 ${\times}$ 18 and 3.5 ${\times}$ 22 nm) were selectively synthesized by a solvothermal process combined with non-hydrolytic sol-gel reaction. With varying the molar ratio of TTIP to oleic acid from 1:1 to 1:16, the NRs in the pure anatase phase were elongated to the c-axis direction. The prepared NP and NRs were applied for the formation of nanoporous $TiO_2$ layers in dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). Among them, NR2 ($TiO_2$ nanorod with 4 ${\times}$ 15 nm) exhibited the highest cell performance: Its photovoltaic conversion efficiency (${\eta}$) of 6.07%, with $J_{sc}$ of 13.473 mA/$cm^2$, $V_{oc}$ of 0.640 V, and FF of 70.32%, was 1.44 times that of NP with a size of 5 ${\times}$ 5.5 nm. It was observed from the transient photoelectron spectroscopy and the incident photon to current conversion efficiency (IPCE) spectra that the $TiO_2$ films derived from NR2 demonstrate the longest electron diffusion length ($L_e$) and the highest external quantum efficiency (EQE).
The samples for organic carbon analysis were collected between $5^{\circ}\;and\;17^{\circ}N$ along $131.5^{\circ}W$ in the northeast Pacific KODOS (Korea Deep Ocean Study) area. The mean concentration of total organic carbon (TOC) in the surface mixed layer $({\sim}50 m)$ was $100.13{\pm}2.05{\mu}M-C$, while the mean concentration of TOC in the lower 500m of the water column was $50.19{\pm}4.23{\mu}M-C$. A strong linear regression between TOC and temperature $(r^2=0.70)$ showed that TOC distribution was controlled by physical process. Results from the linear regression between chlorophyll-a and TOC, and between chlorophyll-a and particulate organic carbon (POC), decreasing of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in the surface layer caused by non-biological photo-oxidation process. Below the surface layer, biological production and consumption occurred. DOC accumulation dominated in the depth range of $30{\sim}50m$ and DOC consumption occurred in the depth range of $50{\sim}200m$. TOC was inversely correlated with apparent oxygen utilization (AOU) and TOC/AOU molar ratios ranged from -0.077 to -0.21. These ratios indicated that TOC oxidation was responsible fur $10.9{\sim}30.1%$ (mean 20.2%) of oxygen consumption in the NE Pacific KODOS area. In the euphotic zone, distributions of dissolved and particulate organic matter were controlled by photo-chemical, chemical, biological and physical processes.

Zinc intake and status of South Koreans from rural, urban and metropolitan areas were investigated. The dietary habits of 760 healthy male and female adult subjects with a mean age of 54 were assessed using a food frequency questionnaire and were verified using 24 h dietary recall. Daily Zn intakes for men and women were 7.4$\pm$5.4 mg and 7.0$\pm$5.4 mg, respectively, which were 62% and 70% of the Korean RDA. The phytate : zinc and phytate ${\times}$ calcium : zinc molar ratios were 38 and 398, respectively. Both the low intake of zinc and the high extremely phytate and phytate ${\times}$ calcium ratios with Zinc suggest that South Koreans may be at risk of zinc deficiency. Plasma zinc (86$\pm$61 $\mu\textrm{g}$/dL), urinary zinc (33$\pm$27 $\mu\textrm{g}$/dL) and plasma alkaline phosphatase (102$\pm$52 mU/mL) levels within the normal range did not however suggest marked Zinc deficiency in these subjects. However, conventional zinc biomarkers aye known to be unreliable for assessment of marginal zinc deficiency. Based on zinc intake alone, it is likely that at least a proportion of these subjects were marginally zinc deficient and the wider consumption of zinc rich, phytate deficient foods, particularly in rural areas, would be beneficial.
Sustained release matrix tablets, pellets, and coated pellets for the delivery of sulindac were prepared using cellulose derivatives at various ratios, and evaluated for the dis solution pattern. The release of sulindac, from matrix tablets prepared with low viscosity HPMC was relatively fast, and especially the tablets made of Metolose SM released all of sulindac within 1 hr. The release of drug from tablets made of other HPMC derivatives were retarded in the order of the following: Pharmacoat 645>Pharmacoat 606>Pharrnacoat 606+HPC-L>HPC-L. The most sustained release pattern was observed with the preparation of high viscous polymer. Metolose 90 SH. While release of sulindac, from matrix type pellet containing 10mg/cap of Metolose 90 SH or 60 SH was completed within 1 hr, a prolonged release formulation (30% in 1 hr) was obtained by the inclusion of EC. Pellets coated with HPMC showed a fast release pattern (${\geq}$ 80% within 2 hrs), whereas pellets coated with HPMC and EC (molar ratio 1 : 1) showed a sustained release pattern (${\geq}$ 80% in 12 hrs), vath the release from EC pellets being the most sustained. Fast (naked) and slow release pellets coated with EC, Metolose 60SH 50cps and propylene glycol. and enteric pellets coated with HPMCP 55 and Myvacet$^{\circledR}$ were prepared, and combined at various ratios for the assessment of dissolution pattern. The result indicates the possibility that the development of 24 hr sustained release delivery systems containing sulindac for oral administration could be achieved by means of combining sustained and fast release pellets at a proper portion.
Water-soluble crude polysaccharide (TM-1) prepared from the leaves of Teucrium viscidum var. miquelianum was fractionated into three polysaccharide fractions, TM-2, TM-3 and TM-4 by the addition of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide. The major polysaccharide fraction, TM-2, consisted of glucose, galactose, rhamnose, mannose, glucuronic acid and galacturonic acid, and all fractions contained galactose and glutose as the major neutral sugars. TM-4 showed the highest anti-complementary activity. When TM-4 was futher fractionated by anion exchange chromatography, TM4- II a and TM4-II b showed the most Potent anti-complementary activity. TM4- II a was composed mainly of galactose, arabinose and glucose in the molar ratios of 2.13 : 0.94 : 1.00 respectively, and contained a small amount of galacturonic acid and glucuronic acid.
An immunosensor based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) with enhanced performance was developed through a mixed self-assembled monolayer. A mixture of 16-mercaptohexadecanic acid (16-MHA) and 1-undecanethiol with various molar ratios was self-assembled on gold (Au) surface and the carboxylic acid groups of 16-MHA were then coordinated to Zn ions by exposing the substrate to an ethanolic solution of $Zn(NO_3)_2\cdot 6H_2O$. The antibody was immobilized on the SPR surface by exposing the functionalized substrate to the desired solution of antibody in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) molecules. The film formation in series was confirmed by SPR and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The functionalized surface was applied to develop an SPR immunosensor for detecting human serum albumin (HSA) and the estimated detection limit (DL) was 4.27 nM. The limit value concentration can be well measured between ill and healthy conditions.
The effects of sodium copper chlorophyllin (SCC) on bioaccessibility and uptake of mercury from fish were investigated using an in vitro digestion coupled with a Caco-2 cell. Fish along with SCC was subjected to a simulated in vitro digestion, which simulates both the gastric and small intestinal phase in vivo. Mercury bioaccessibility, the amount of mercury released from fish to aqueous phase following a digestion, was measured. Various amounts of SCC (0.1-25 mg) significantly reduced mercury bioaccessibility in a dose dependent manner by 49-89% compared to the negative control (fish without SCC) (p<0.05). Mercury bioaccessibility in varying molar ratios of mercury to positive control, 2,3-dimercapto-1-propane sulfonate (DMPS) was between 24 and 52%. Mercury uptake by Caco-2 cells from test media containing aqueous phase following in vitro digestion was measured after 6 hr incubation at $37^{\circ}C$. Cellular mercury uptake with increasing amount of SCC ranged from 0.352 to $0.052\;{\mu}g$ mercury/mg protein, while those in DMPS treatment were between 0.14 and $0.27\;{\mu}g$ mercury/mg protein. Our study suggests that SCC can reduce mercury absorption following fish consumption and may be efficient as a synthetic chelating agent for long term chronic mercury exposure in fish eating populations.
Polyamide derived from azo compound of o-amino phenol coupled with acetyl acetone, maleic anhydride acid and p-phenylene diamine were prepared. The prepared polyamide (PA) was refluxed with metal salts of transition metal ions include, $Co^{+2},\;Cr^{+2},\;Ni^{+2},\;Cu^{+2},\;Zn^{+2},\;Cd^{+2}$ and $Fe^{+3}$ in dimethyl formamide (DMF) in different molar ratios. These complexes were characterized and identified by elemental and thermal analysis, IR, 1H NMR spectra. The data showed that PA ligand coordinates with metal ions in abidentate manner through donating N=N and O-H groups. The metal ions are surrounded by coordinated water molecules and anions to establish the geometrical structure of the complexes. The thermal analysis degradation at different temperatures explained the weight loss of hydrated water and the decompositions of complexes until a constant weight loss of metal oxides is obtained.
