  • A new quaternary ammonium compound, hydrolyzed ginseng-saponin quaternary (HGSQ), from Korean ginseng saponin and 2,3-epoxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride has been developed as a conditioning agent in cosmetics. This structure has a hydrophobic group from the aglycone of ginseng saponin which is biologically active and considered to be the most important component of the Korean ginseng. Its properties : surface tension, critical micelle concentration (CMC), eye irritation, sorption onto hair, force reduction(%) and moisture retention effect were studied. Its cationic character allows the molecule to be more substantive than ginseng saponin. HGSQ had good physical properties and was safe. enough as a cosmetic raw material. Also half-head tests of HGSQ-containing shampoo were carried out to compare the conditioning effects in shampoos. HGSQ was an excellent conditioning agent in shampoo..

건조분말 식품의 수분 특성에 관한 비교 연구 (Characteristics of Water Vapor Sorption Phenomena of Powdered Foods)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the water vapor permeability of packaging film, Al- foil laminated paper, and sorption properties of dehydrated and powdered foods. The results are as fellows. 1. Absorption rate of each products was greately affeoted by physicochemical properties of foods rather than initial moisture contents of the products. 2. The absorption rate of each products were in the order of freeze dried coffee, spray dried coffee, freeze drie4 ginseng extract, spray dried ginseng extract, ginger tea, black tea, citrus juice Powder and ssang wha tea. 3. Most of the products such as freeze dried coffee, spray dried coffee, freeze dried ginseng extract, ginger tea and black tea have shorter than a month of shelf life. 4. The stability of the products were greatly affected by its desorption properties than the degree of desorption of moisture. 5. Water vapor permeability of packaging materials which are laminated Al-foil with polythylene and glassin paper were mainly affected of thickness of Al-foil and polyethylene.

침엽수재(針葉樹材) 내부수분이동(內部水分移動)과 확산활성화(擴散活性化)에너지 (Moisture Movement in Softwood and its Activation Energy)

  • Three kinds of specimens(radiata pine sapwood, radiata pine heartwood and whemlock heartwood) were dried at four temperature levels (30, 40, 50 and $60^{\circ}C$) in an emvironmental chamber. Unsteady-state diffusion coefficients were calculated from obtained drying fates by using infinite slab equation for first half of sorption and interval diffusion equation for second half of sorption. Activation energies for moisture diffusion in wood were calculated from the diffusion coefficients obtained at four temperatures. In most cases diffusion coefficients for radial movement were higher than those for tangential movement. Activation energy differences between sapwood and heartwood weren't significant for radial movement, but were significant for tangential movement. Most activation energies calculated from drying rates were lower than heat of water condensation(about 11,000cal/mole). Specially the avenge activation energy for sapwood tangential movement was only 5,000cal/mole.

Observation of Moisture Content in Wood at Non-Steady State

  • For the search of unified law of moisture movement in wood, moisture distribution of Korean red pine at non-steady state was investigated. We assume that the equilibrium moisture content (EMC) in wood depends on only temperature and relative humidity, it can be control in temperature and humidity chamber. If temperature is constant and humidity or vapor pressure is changed with sin curve shape at adequate cycles, EMC in chamber can be changed as well with sin-curve shape. The setup condition of a non-steady state in humidity control chambers is a constant temperature at $20^{\circ}C$ and 15+10 sin ${\omega}t$ percent EMC. It can be found that the distribution of moisture in the specimen with varying relative humidity are illustrated various types. Moisture in wood is complicated and vibrates with the moisture sorption process. Considering a unified law of moisture movement in wood, it is considered that the most important fact is to search the method of precise diffusion & transfer coefficients.

감압유탕 건조당근의 흡습특성 및 품질에 미치는 덱스트린의 영향 (Effect of Dextrin on Sorption Characteristics and Quality of Vacuum Frying Dried Carrot)

  • 본 연구는 감압유탕 당근스낵의 품질에 미치는 dextrin의 영향에 대하여 조사하였다. 전처리 용액으로는 0%, 10%, 20% 및 30%의 dextrin 용액을 사용하였으며, 제조된 감압유탕 건조당근의 흡습성, 복원성. 색도 및 crispness를 조사 분석하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. Dextrin의 농도에 따른 평형수분함량과 흡습속도는 control>10% dextrin>20% dextrin>30% dextrin의 순이었고, BET 단분자막 수분함량은 저장온도가 높을 수록 감소하었고 dextrin 전처리한 시료들의 BET 단분자막 수분함량은 그 농도가 높을 수록 감소하였다. 또한 Dextrin 전처리 농도가 낮을 수록 제품의 명도와 황색도는 증가하였으나 적색도는 감소하였으며, 생당근과 비슷한 색상을 띠는 시료는 20%로 전처리한 시료였다. 그리고 감압유탕 건조당근제품은 전처리한 dextrin 용액의 농도가 높을 수록 crispness intensity도 높았다.

일부(一部) 한국산(韓國産) 농산물(農産物)의 등온흡습곡선(等溫吸濕曲線)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Water Vapor Sorption Behavior of Some Agricultural Products Produced in Korea)

  • 본(本) 연구(硏究)에서는 국내(國內)에서 아직 조사(調査)되지 않은 16개 품목(品目)의 농산물(農産物)에 대(對)한 등온흡습곡선(等溫吸濕曲線)을 측정온도(測定溫度), $25^{\circ}C,\;30^{\circ}$, 및 $45^{\circ}C$ 에서 결정(決定)하였다. 온도범위(溫度範圍) $25^{\circ}{\sim}45^{\circ}C$ 사이에서는 온도(溫度)의 증가(增加)에 따라 평형수분함량(平衡水分含量)이 감소(減少)하는 경향을 보였다. 또한 등온흡습곡선(等溫吸濕曲線)의 측정치(測定値)로 부터 BET단분자막수분함량(單分子膜水分含量)을 분석(分析), 결정(決定)하였다. 등온흡습기작(等溫吸濕機作)의 열역학적(熱力學的) 함수인 엔트로피의 변화(變化)는 건조식품(乾燥食品)의 안전저장(安全貯藏) 수분함량(水分含量)영역인 BET단분자막수분함량(單分子膜水分含量)과 밀접한 관계(關係)에 놓인 것으로 사료되고 있다.

  • Moisture evaporates, when concrete is exposed to fire, not only at concrete surface but also at inside the concrete to adjust the equilibrium and transfer properties of moisture. The equilibrium properties of moisture are described by means of water vapor sorption isotherms, which illustrate the hysteretical behavior of materials. In this paper, the prediction method of the moisture distribution inside the high strength concrete members under the high temperature is presented. Finite element method is employed to facilitate the moisture diffusion analysis for any position of member. And the moisture diffusivity model of high strength concrete by high temperature is proposed. To demonstrate the validity of this numerical procedure, the prediction by the proposed algorithm is compared with the test result of other researcher. The proposed algorithm shows a good agreement with the experimental results including the vaporization effect inside the concrete.

건조방법에 따른 복분자 분말의 갈변 및 흡습 특성 (Browning and Moisture Sorption Characteristics of Rubus coreanus Prepared by Different Drying Methods)

  • 건조방법이 복분자 분말의 갈변 및 흡습 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여, 신선 복분자를 천일, 적외선 및 동결 건조한 다음 분쇄하고 이 분말의 색도와 수분활성도 ($a_w$) 0.11-0.90 범위에서 평형수분함량(EMC)을 각각 측정하였다. 갈변지표인 $L^*$값과 $a^*$값은 동결 건조한 복분자 분말이 다른 방법으로 건조한 분말보다 높고 낮은 값을 나타내었고, 황색도인 $b^*$값은 동결 건조 분말에서 가장 높은 수준을 보였다. EMC는 $a_w$의 증가와 함께 증가하는 경향을 보였으며 특히, 0.75 $a_w$ 이상에서 급격하게 증가하였다. 동일한 $a_w$에서 분말의 EMC는 동결건조품이 천일과 적외선 건조품 보다 유의적으로 높게 나타났다. 복분자 분말의 흡습곡선은 전형적인 sigmoid 형태를 보였고, 천일건조 분말은 Halsey model, 적외선 건조 분말은 Kuhn model, 그리고 동결 건조 분말은 Oswin model이 적합도가 가장 높았다. 단분자층 수분함량은 GAB 방정식으로 설명 할 수 있었으며, 적외선 건조 분말에서 0.005 g $H_2O/g$ dry solid, 천일 및 동결 건조 분말에서 0.019 g $H_2O/g$ dry solid를 각각 나타내었다. 이로써 건조방법은 복분자 분말의 갈변과 흡습 특성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다.

BTCA로 방추가공한 면직물의 수착 성질 및 물리적 성질의 연구 (A Study on the Sorption and Physical Properties of the BTCA Finished Cotton Fabrics)

  • Cotton fabrics were treated with BTCA, which is used to improve the wrinkle recovery property of cotton fabrics. BTCA, with varying its concentrations, was treated on cotton fabrics by pad dry-cure technique. BTCA contents in treated cotton fabrics were determined by the weight gain and the FT-lR spectrometer. The effects on the sorption and physical properties of BTCA treated fabrics were investigated. IR spectra showed that ester-crosslinks were produced in BTCA treated cotton fabrics. And as increasing the concentration of BTCA, ester-crosslinks are increased in amorphous regions of fabrics. Moisture regain and water imbibition of treated fabrics were reduced. But, they were increased over a certain concentration. Dye sorptions also were reduced, but they were similar over 6% BTCA. When BTCA was treated on cotton fabrics, DP rating and wrinkle recovery angle were improved. On the other hand, strength retentions of treated fabrics were lower than untreated fabrics. Stiffness was increased.

A simple practical method for determination of moisture transfer coefficient of mature concrete using a combined experimental-numerical approach

  • In this paper, a simple practical method is introduced in which a simple weight measurement of concrete and finite element numerical analysis are used to determine the moisture transfer coefficient of concrete with a satisfactory accuracy. Six concrete mixtures with different water-to-cementitious material (w/cm) ratios and two pozzolanic materials including silica fume and zeolite were examined to validate the proposed method. The comparison between the distribution of the moisture content obtained from the model and the one from the experimental data during both the wetting and drying process properly validated the performance of the method.With the proposed method, it was also shown that the concrete moisture transfer coefficient considerably depends on the pore water saturation degree. The use of pozzolanic materials and also lowering w/cm ratio increased the moisture transfer coefficient during the initial sorption, and then, it significantly decreased with an increase in the water saturation degree.
