  • In this paper, we have designed an integrated triplexer which is the basic component for a FTTH(Fiber To The Home) system which can transmit CATV and voice/data at the same time in a single fiber. The integrated triplexer can be fabricated with a novel technique of "Micro-Block Stacking (MBS)" method which automatically aligns the optical components in the optical beam pass using accurate ceramic holders. We analyze the displacement of the optical focus according to the tolerances of the component dimensions and the assembly process using code V simulator. For the transmitter, the most serious shift of the focal points is caused by the displacements of the LD spot. So the focal point moves up to $72{\mu}m$ from the center point for ${\pm}25{\mu}m$, ${\pm}25{\mu}m$, ${\pm}30{\mu}m$ displacements. For the receiver the most serious shift of the focal points is caused by the displacements of a 0.8mm ball lens (for the analog receiving part) and a micro ball lens (for the digital receiving part), and the focal point moves up to $55{\mu}$ for ${\pm}55{\mu}m$, ${\pm}5{\mu}m$, ${\pm}55{\mu}m$ micro ball lens displacements.

  • Korea expects a shortage in storage capacity for spent fuels at reactor sites. Therefore, a need for more metal and/or concrete casks for storage systems is anticipated for either the reactor site or away from the reactor for interim storage. For the purpose of interim storage and transportation, a dual purpose metal cask that can load 21 spent fuel assemblies is being developed by Korea Radioactive Waste Management Corporation (KRMC) in Korea. At first the gamma and neutron flux for the design basis fuel were determined assuming in-core environment (the temperature, pressure, etc. of the moderator, boron, cladding, $UO_2$ pellets) in which the design basis fuel is loaded, as input data. The evaluation simulated burnup up to 45,000 MWD/MTU and decay during ten years of cooling using the SAS2H/OGIGEN-S module of the SCALE5.1 system. The results from the source term evaluation were used as input data for the final shielding evaluation utilizing the MCNP Code, which yielded the effective dose rate. The design of the cask is based on the safety requirements for normal storage conditions under 10 CFR Part 72. A radiation shielding analysis of the metal storage cask optimized for loading 21 design basis fuels was performed for two cases; one for a single cask and the other for a $2{\times}10$ cask array. For the single cask, dose rates at the external surface of the metal cask, 1m and 2m away from the cask surface, were evaluated. For the $2{\times}10$ cask array, dose rates at the center point of the array and at the center of the casks' height were evaluated. The results of the shielding analysis for the single cask show that dose rates were considerably higher at the lower side (from the bottom of the cask to the bottom of the neutron shielding) of the cask, at over 2mSv/hr at the external surface of the cask. However, this is not considered to be a significant issue since additional shielding will be installed at the storage facility. The shielding analysis results for the $2{\times}10$ cask array showed exponential decrease with distance off the sources. The controlled area boundary was calculated to be approximately 280m from the array, with a dose rate of 25mrem/yr. Actual dose rates within the controlled area boundary will be lower than 25mrem/yr, due to the decay of radioactivity of spent fuel in storage.

  • Various LIDs with natural water circulation function are applied to reduce urban environmental problems and environmental impact of development projects. However, excessive Infiltration and evaporation of LID facilities dry the LID internal soil, thus reducing plant and microbial activity and reducing environmental re duction ability. The purpose of this study was to develop a real-time measurement system with complex sensors to derive the management plan of LID facilities. The test of measurable sensors and Internet of Things (IoT) application was conducted in artificial wetlands shaped in acrylic boxes. The applied sensors were intended to be built at a low cost considering the distributed LID and were based on Arduino and Raspberry Pi, which are relatively inexpensive and commercialized. In addition, the goal was to develop complex sensor measurements to analyze the current state o f LID facilities and the effects of maintenance and abnormal weather conditions. Sensors are required to measure wind direction, wind speed, rainfall, carbon dioxide, Micro-dust, temperature and humidity, acidity, and location information in real time. Data collection devices, storage server programs, and operation programs for PC and mobile devices were developed to collect, transmit and check the results of measured data from applied sensors. The measurements obtained through each sensor are passed through the Wifi module to the management server and stored on the database server in real time. Analysis of the four-month measurement result values conducted in this study confirmed the stability and applicability of ICT technology application to LID facilities. Real-time measured values are found to be able to utilize big data to evaluate the functions of LID facilities and derive maintenance measures.

  • Image retrieval has become a huge part of computer vision and data mining. Although commercial image retrieval systems such as Google show great performances, the improvement on the performances are constantly on demand because of the rapid growth of data on web space. To satisfy the demand, many re-ranking methods, which enhance the performances by reordering retrieved results with independent algorithms, has been proposed. Conventional re-ranking algorithms are based on the assumption that visual patterns are not used on initial image retrieval stage. However, image search engines in present have begun to use the visual and the assumption is required to be reconsidered. Also, though it is possible to suspect that integration of multiple retrieval systems can improve the overall performance, the research on the topic has not been done sufficiently. In this paper, we made the condition that other manner than cooperation cannot improve the ranking result. We evaluate the algorithm on toy model and show that propose module can improve the retrieval results.

  • The Immersion Grating Infrared Spectrometer (IGRINS) is an unprecedentedly minimized infrared cross-dispersed echelle spectrograph with a high-resolution and high-sensitivity optical performance. A silicon immersion grating features the instrument for the first time in this field. IGRINS will cover the entire portion of the wavelength range between 1.45 and $2.45{\mu}m$ accessible from the ground in a single exposure with spectral resolution of 40,000. Individual volume phase holographic (VPH) gratings serve as cross-dispersing elements for separate spectrograph arms covering the H and K bands. On the 2.7m Harlan J. Smith telescope at the McDonald Observatory, the slit size is $1^{\prime\prime}{\times}15^{\prime\prime}$. IGRINS has a $0.27^{\prime\prime}$ pixel-1 plate scale on a $2048{\times}2048$ pixel Teledyne Scientific & Imaging HAWAII-2RG detector with SIDECAR ASIC cryogenic controller. The instrument includes four subsystems; a calibration unit, an input relay optics module, a slit-viewing camera, and nearly identical H and K spectrograph modules. The use of a silicon immersion grating and a compact white pupil design allows the spectrograph collimated beam size to be 25mm, which permits the entire cryogenic system to be contained in a moderately sized rectangular vacuum chamber. The fabrication and assembly of the optical and mechanical hardware components were completed in 2013. In this presentation, we describe the major design characteristics of the instrument and the early performance estimated from the first light commissioning at the McDonald Observatory.

  • In this study, we present an algorithm that conducts an unique naming process for the bridge object through the solid object identification focused on 3D straight bridge model. For the recognition of 3D objects, the numerical algorithm utilizes centroid point, and solid object on the local coordination system. It classifies the object feature set by classifying the objects and members based on the bridge direction. By doing so, unique names, which contain the information about span, members and order of the object, were determined and the suitability of this naming algorithm was examined through a truss bridge model and a bridge model with different coordinate systems. Also, the naming process based on the object feature set was carried out for the real 3D bridge model and then was applied to the module on local server and mobile device for real bridge inspection work. From the comparison of the developed naming algorithm based on object identification and the conventional one based on field inspection, it was shown that the conventional field inspection work can be effectively improved.

  • For successful BIM settlement, it is a key technic for engineer to design structures in the 3-dimensional digital space and to work out related design documents directly. Lately many BIM tool has been released and each supports their 3-dimensional object libraries. But it is not easy to apply those libraries to design transportation infra structures that were placed along the route(3-dimensional line). Moreover, in case of design changes, it is so difficult to reflect those changes with the integrated model that was assembled by them. Because of they were developed without consideration for redundancy of parameters between objects that were placed nearby or were related each other. In this paper, a method to develop module for modeling and placing 3-dimensional object for transportation infra structures is presented. The modules are employed by a parametric method and can deal with design changes. Also, for a railroad bridge, through developing user interface of the integrated 3-dimensional model that was assembled by those modules the applicability of them was reviewed.

  • In this paper we design the optical system for an integrated two-channel TO-type optical transmitter to apply the HDMI interface using the code V simulator. The proposed integrated two-channel optical transmitter has two VCSELs attached in parallel on an 8-pin TO-CAN package, on top of which is a lens filter block ($1mm{\times}2mm{\times}4mm$) composed of hemispherical lenses and WDM filters. Considering two-channel transmitters manufactured with wavelength combinations of 1060nm/1270nm and 1330nm/1550nm, we obtain the optimum value of the diameter of the hemispherical lens as 0.6 mm for both combinations, and the distances L between the lens filter block and ball lens as 1.7 mm and 2.0 mm for the 1060nm/1270nm and 1330nm/1550nm wavelength combinations, respectively. At this time, the focal length f0 of the lens filter blocks for wavelengths of 1060, 1270, 1330, and 1550 nm are 0.351, 0.354, 0.355, and 0.359 mm, respectively, and the focal lengths F of light passing through the lens filter block and ball lens are 0.62 mm for 1060nm/1270nm and 0.60-0.66 mm for 1330nm/1550nm wavelength combinations.

  • In order to describe runoff characteristics of urban drainage area, outflow from subbasins divided by considering topography and flow path, is analyzed through stormwater system. In doing so, concentration time and time-area curve change significantly according to basin shape, and runoff characteristics are changed greatly by these attributes. Therefore, in this development study of FFC2Q model by MLTM, we aim to improve the accuracy in analyzing runoff by adding a module that considers basin shape, giving it an advantage over popular urban hydrology models, such as SWMM and ILLUDAS, that can not account for geometric shape of a basin due to their assumptions of unit subbasin as having a simple rectangular form. For subbasin shapes, symmetry types (rectangular, ellipse, lozenge), divergent types (triangle, trapezoid), and convergent types (inverted triangle, inverted trapezoid) have been analyzed in application of time-area curve for surface runoff analysis. As a result, we found that runoff characteristic can be quite different depending on basin shape. For example, when Gunja basin was represented by lozenge shape, the best results for peak flow discharge and overall shape of runoff hydrograph were achieved in comparison to observed data. Additionally, in case of considering subbasin shape, the number of division of drainage basin did not affect peak flow magnitude and gave stable results close to observed data. However, in case of representing the shape of subbasins by traditional rectangular approximation, the division number had sensitive effects on the analysis results.

  • The research on red tide is generally in progress through field work, such as the naked eye and sampling. It was difficult to forecast exactly the course, from appearance of red tide to disappearance. with the established ways of investigation and analysis. Accordingly it is need to analyze environmental factors in time and space, the appearance of red tide and the path of its migration by more objective and scientific methods. In this study, GIS is applied to analyse the space character of red tide and the interpolation of IDW(Inverse Distance Weight) is applied to assume the density distribution of red tide after gather data by using Arc/Info. After IDW interpolation, the sea area occurred over 1,000 cells/ml of red tide density is extracted with CON and SUM Function of Grid Module, and the density of the sea area is accumulated daily. As a result of this study, the distribution condition of red tide is found timely and spacially by applying GIS to the sea area of red tide, the results indicated that the spatial density and the cumulative frequency about the origin of red tide using GIS, the sea area demonstrated that the maximum density and the maximum frequency varied significantly over the Nammyun of Namhae-Is. with the maximum frequency being 49 times. accordingly if data about the areas of red tide will occur from the present are accumulated, the shifting route of red tide occurrence and extinction can be predicted.
