A holographic data storage (HDS) has some advantages of high storage capacity, fast transmission, and short access time. However, there are two major concerns with the system which are two-dimensional (2D) inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-page interference (IPI). Thus, this paper proposes a 4-level 6/9 modulation code which mitigate inter-symbol interference (ISI).

In this paper, we investigate the signal design of six (USA, EU, Russia, China, Japan, and India) countries for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Recently, a navigation satellite system that is capable of high-precision and reliable Positioning, Navigation, Timing (PNT) services has been developed. Prior to system design, a survey of the signal design for other GNSS systems should precede to ensure compatibility and interoperability with other GNSS. The signal design includes carrier frequency, Pseudorandom Noise (PRN) code, modulation, navigation service, etc. Specifically, GNSS is allocated L1, L2, and L5 bands, with recent additions of the L6 and S bands. GNSS uses PRN code (such as Gold, Weil, etc) to distinguish satellites that transmit signals simultaneously on the same frequency band. For modulation, both Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) and Binary Offset Carrier (BOC) have been widely used to avoid collision in the frequency spectrum, and alternating BOCs are adopted to distinguish pilot and data components. Through the survey of other GNSS' signal designs, we provide insights for guiding the design of new satellite navigation systems.
In this paper, a novel trellis-coded spatial modulation (TCSM) design method is presented and analyzed. Inspired by the key idea of trellis-coded modulation (TCM), the detailed analysis is firstly provided on the unequal error protection performance of spatial modulation constellation. Subsequently, the Ungerboeck set partitioning rule is proposed and applied to develop a general method to design the novel TCSM schemes. Different from the conventional TCSM approaches, the novel one based on the Ungerboeck set partitioning rule has similar properties as the classic TCM, which has simple but effective code design criteria. Moreover, the novel designed schemes are robust and adaptive to the generalized Rician fading channels, which outperform the traditional TCSM ones. For examples, the novel 4-, 8-, and 16-state TCSM schemes are constructed by employing different transmit antennas and different modulation schemes in different channel conditions. Simulation results clearly demonstrate the advantages of the novel TCSM schemes over the conventional ones.

Characteristics of PCM(Pulse Code Modulation) waveform are suitable for target tracking. Especially in terms of dwell time, it is desirable to detect and track a moving target with the single PCM waveform for a MFR(Multi-Function Radar) which carries out multiple tasks. General PCM waveform processing includes Doppler filter bank caused by the characteristics of ambiguity function, to detect target and estimate Doppler frequency, which induces hardware burden and computational complexity. We propose a ML(Maximum Likelihood) based Doppler estimator for a PCM waveform, which is the closed form suboptimal solution and computationally efficient to estimate Doppler frequency and detect a moving target.

Range resolution is important performance parameter to distinguish a target accurately. The destination of modern radar systems, to overcome the limitations of existing analog radar systems, is to improve the range resolution of the distance with low transmission power. For that reason, the research on pulse compression techniques is briskly studying. In the Receiver, modulation system of transmitted signal which has used in pulse compression technique is divided PM and FM to distinguish a target. In this paper, We analysed and designed the pulse compression signal processing module using the Baker Code which is the one of PM method's.

We propose three multi-level modulation codes of the code rate 1/2 for holographic data storage considered as a promising candidate for next generation storage systems. Since a pixel with multi-levels can represent more than 1 bit, it is possible to increase the storage capacity and have many codewords. Thus, we can choose a code that the minimum distance is as far as possible. When we compare the codes with the code rate 1/2, the performance of the code with small number of levels is better than that of large number of levels.

Unitary matrix modulation (UMM) is investigated in multiple antennas system that is called unitary space-time modulation (USTM). In an OFDM, the diagonal components of UMM with splitting over the coherence bandwidth (UMM-S/OFDM) have been proposed. Recently LDPC code is strongly attended and studied due to simple decoding property with good error correction property. In this paper, we propose LDPC coded UMM-S/OFDM for increasing the system performance. Our proposed system can obtain frequency diversity using UMM-S/OFDM like USTM/OFDM, and large coding gain using LDPC code. The superior characteristics of the proposed UMM-S/OFDM are demonstrated by extensive computer simulations in multi-path Rayleigh fading channel.

The optimum convolutional error correction codes for recently standardized Feher-patented quadrature phase-shift keying (FQPSK-B) modulation are proposed. We utilize the continuous phase modulation characteristics of FQPSK-B signals for calculating the minimum Euclidean distance of convolutional coded FQPSK-B signal. It is shown that the Euclidean distance between two FQPSK-B signals is proportional to the Hamming distance between two binary data sequence. Utilizing this characteristic, we show that the convolutional codes with optimum free Hamming distance is the optimum convolutional codes for FQPSK-B signals.

Mutilevel holographic data storage systems have a big advantage for capacity since it can store more than one bit per pixel. For instance, 2/3 modulation code stores 2/3(symbol/pixel) and 4/3(bit/pixel). Then it is about 1.3 bits per one pixel. In this paper, we propose two 4-level modulation codes, which have the minimum Euclidean distances of 3 and 4, respectively. The proposed codes perform better than random data. The performance of larger minimum distance code shows better than that of shorter one.

To improve drawback of existing modulation method, in this paper, we propose the channel forecast method using adaptive modulation which can improve throughput of channel. This method adaptively changes modulation method to the change of channel environments. In proposed method, channel's characteristics are measured in realtime to determine code rate to the changes of demanded channel's bit error rate. If bit error rate is increased, this method reduce code rate to maintain maximum throughput. We analysis performance of proposed method by Matlab.
