Reliability Improvement of H-Bridge Multi-level Inverter for Medium-Voltage & High-Power Induction Motor Drives (고전압 대용량 유도전동기 구동용 H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터의 신뢰성 향상)

  • This paper proposes the reliability improvement of H-Bridge Multi-level (HBM) inverter. This reliability can be implemented through modularization of power circuit, distribution of controller, duplication of controller and communication, and continuous operation method in case of power cell failure for driving medium-voltage & high-power induction motor. It is shown that the modularization and expansion characteristics of the HBM inverter are improved since the individual inverter modules operate more independently when using the proposed concept. Also the fault tolerance is increased by using power cell bypass. The proposed design and control methods are described in detail and the validity of the proposed system is verified experimentally in various industrial fields.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the use of modular construction method in order to promote the dissemination of the Health Life Support Center of the government, and to suggest the modular unitification and modularization plan for the necessary space data in the initial stage. By analyzing the floor plans of the 50 case projects currently in operation, the 28 required spaces and their spatial proximities are determined. Base on spatial proximities, each space is unitificated into a modular unit and modularized into a modular modules were integrated to modular proposals. As a result of this study, 13 unitificated modular unit floor planes and 3 modularized module floor planes including the staircase unit were proposed. However, future study have needed to study how to apply them to different actual sites and how to reduce cost.

  • Conventional solid or surface modeling systems cannot represent both the complete solid model and the abstract model in a unified framework. Recently, non-manifold modeling systems are proposed to solve this problem. This paper describes FlexDesigner, an open kernel system for modeling non-manifold models. It summarizes the data structure for non-manifold models, system design methodology, system modularization, and the typical characteristics of each module in the system. A data structure based on partial-topological elements is adopted to represent the relationship among topological elements. It is efficient in the usage of memory and has topological completeness compared with other published data structures. It can handle many non-manifold situations such as isolate vertices, dangling edges, dangling faces, a mixed dimensional model, and a cellular model. FlexDesigner is modularized hierarchically and designed by the object-oriented methodology for reusability. FlexDesigner is developed using the C++ and OpenGL on both SGI workstation and IBM PC.

  • The advanced infrastructure for accelerating the development of personal robots is presented. Based on this structure, effective ways for integrating the various commercial components and interfacing among them are studied. The infrastructure includes the technology such as modularization based on independent processing and standardization open to other developers. The infrastructure supports not only that each hardware component of a personal robot can be easily attached to and detached from the whole system mechanically but also that each software of the components can be functionally distributed. As a result, we developed the fully modularized personal robots mechanically, and a virtual machine for the control of these robots. In this paper the proposed infrastructure and its implementations are described.

  • In this paper a new framework is presented for developing the personal robot being used in home environments. We mainly focus on the system engineering technology such as the modularization and standardization. Effective ways for interfacing among modules are addressed regarding compatibility in hardware and software, and as a result a personal robot platform named DHR I is built. The robot is composed of five modules such as brain, mobile, sensor, vision, and user interface modules.   • Feature-oriented software product line engineering is to develop various products by developing product line core assets in terms of features and composing those features. However, the developed product may not behave correctly if the feature interaction problem has not be properly taken into account during the feature composition. This paper proposes techniques for identifying and modularizing undesirable feature interactions effectively. The scientific calculator product line is used for evaluating the applicability of the proposed method.

  • This paper proposes a new power-stage circuit that can be available for modularization of the power regulator which is used at the software-controlled unregulated bus system. And we analyze the proposed power-stage operation according to its operating modes and verify it by performing software simulation and hardware experiment using prototype. By constructing a parallel-module converter which is composed of proposed power-stages, we verify the operations and usefulness of the proposed power-stage.
