A GIS-based landslide susceptibility mapping (LSM) was carried out using frequency ratio (FR), modified frequency ratio (M-FR), analytic hierarchy process (AHP), and modified analytic hierarchy process (M-AHP) methods to identify and delineate the potential failure zones along the Halong - Vandon expressway. The thematic layers of various landslide causative factors were generated for modeling in GIS, including geology, rainfall, distance to fault, distance to road, slope, aspect, landuse, density of landslide, vertical relief, and horizontal relief. In addition, a landslide inventory along the road network was prepared using data provided by the management department during the course of construction and operation from 2017 to 2019, when many landslides were documented. The validation results showed that the M-FR method had the highest AUC value (AUC = 0.971), which was followed by the FR method with AUC = 0.961. The AUC values were 0.939 and 0.892 for the M-AHP and AHP methods, respectively. The generated LSM obtained from M-FR method classified the study area into five susceptibility classes: very low (0), low (0-1), moderate (1-2), high (2-3), and very high (3-4) classes, which could be useful for various stakeholders like planners, engineers, designers, and local public for future construction and maintenance in the study area.
Earthquake response calculation, parametric analysis and seismic parameter optimization of base-isolated structures are some critical issues for seismic design of base-isolated structures. To calculate the earthquake responses for such non-symmetric and non-classical damping linear systems and to implement the earthquake resistant design codes, a modified complex mode superposition design response spectrum method is put forward. Furthermore, to do parameter optimization for base-isolation structures, a graphical approach is proposed by analyzing the relationship between the base shear ratio of a seismic base-isolation floor to non-seismic base-isolation one and frequency ratio-damping ratio, as well as the relationship between the seismic base-isolation floor displacement and frequency ratio-damping ratio. In addition, the influences of mode number and site classification on the seismic base-isolation structure and corresponding optimum parameters are investigated. It is demonstrated that the modified complex mode superposition design response spectrum method is more precise and more convenient to engineering applications for utilizing the damping reduction factors and the design response spectrum, and the proposed graphical approach for parameter optimization of seismic base-isolation structures is compendious and feasible.
Equivalent linear method indirectly reflects a variation of shear modulus(G/Gmax) and damping ratio $(\xi)$ by selects mean value of every response analysis. Existing equivalent linear method does not properly consider variation of shear strain along frequencies and uses mean value. Real dynamic soil behavior is affected by shear stiffness and damping ratio. Modified equivalent linear method is developed to consider variation. Modified equivalent linear method can reflects high strain at low frequency and low strain at high frequency by using an easement curve. This study presents propriety of method by case study.
In order to investigate modified Hayden test for mastitis test milk Samples from 120 cows (total 470 of quarters) were tested by this method. The tests were performed by different lactation age group, different calving frequency and their total quarters. Comparision of results were made between the modified Hayden method and the California Mastitis Test. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Ratio of results of mastitis test between modified Hayden method and California Mastitis Test was 1.1:1.0. 2. Incidence rate of mastitis in different Lactation age group shown 78.5% in 7 to 9 year group, 50% in 4 to 6 year age group and 37.5% in up to 3 year age group, respectively. 3. Incidence rate of mastitis with calving frequency, were 13.5% in 1 to 2 calving frequency group, 83.3% in 3 to 4 calving frequency group and 63.6% in 5 to 6 calving frequency group respectively. 4. Mastitis ratio between rear quarters and front quaters were 1.7:1.0. 5. It is probable that modified Hayden was more sensitive than the California mastitis test in detecting subclinical and clinical mastitis.
Damping ratio and frequency have influence on dynamic serviceability or instability such as vortex-induced vibration and displacement amplification due to earthquake and critical flutter velocity, and it is thus important to make determination of damping ratio and frequency accurate. As bridges are getting longer, small scale model test considering similitude law must be conducted to evaluate damping ratio and frequency. Analysis conditions modified by similitude law are applied to experimental test considering different scale ratios. Generally, Nyquist frequency condition based on natural frequency modified by similitude law has been used to determine sampling rate for different scale ratios, and total time length has been determined by users arbitrarily or by considering similitude law with respect to time for different scale ratios. However, Nyquist frequency condition is not suitable for multimode system with noisy signals. In addition, there is no specified criteria for determination of total time length. Those analysis conditions severely affect accuracy of damping ratio. The focus of this study is made on the determination of minimum analysis conditions for different scale ratios. Influence of signal to noise ratio is studied according to the level of noise level. Free initial value problem is proposed to resolve the condition that is difficult to know original initial value for free vibration. Ambient and free vibration tests were used to analyze the dynamic properties of a system using data collected from tests with a two degree-of-freedom section model and performed on full bridge 3D models of cable stayed bridges. The free decay is estimated with the stochastic subspace identification method that uses displacement data to measure damping ratios under noisy conditions, and the iterative least squares method that adopts low pass filtering and fourth order central differencing. Reasonable results were yielded in numerical and experimental tests.
In general, it may be advantageous to measure the pressure pulsation near a valve to detect a valve defect in a linear compressor. However, the acceleration signals are more advantageous for rapid classification in a mass-production line. This paper deals with the performance improvement of fault classification using only the compressor-shell acceleration signal based on the relation between the refrigerant pressure pulsation and the shell acceleration of the compressor. A transfer function was estimated experimentally to take into account the signal noise ratio between the pressure pulsation of the refrigerant in the suction pipe and the shell acceleration. The shell acceleration signal of the compressor was modified using this transfer function to improve the defect classification performance. The defect classification of the modified signal was evaluated in the acceleration signal in the frequency domain using Fisher's discriminant ratio (FDR). The defect classification method was validated by experimental data. By using the method presented, the classification of valve defects can be performed rapidly and efficiently during mass production.

OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) system is robust to frequency selective fading and narrowband interference in high-speed data communications. However, an OPDM signal consists of a number of independently modulated subcarriers and the superposition of these subcarriers causes a problem that can give a large PARR(Peak-to-Average Power Ratio). PTS(Partial Transmit Sequence) scheme can reduce the PAPR by dividing OFDM signal into subblocks and then multiplying the phase weighting factors to each subblocks, but computational complexity for selecting of phase weighting factors increases exponentially with the number of subblocks. Therefore, in this paper, MG-PSO(Modified Greedy algorithm-Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm that combines modified greedy algorithm and PSO(Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm is proposed to use for the phase control method in PTS scheme. This method can solve the computational complexity and guarantee to reduce PAPR. We analyzed the performance of the PAPR reduction when we applied the proposed method to telecommunication systems.
In this research, the nonlinear free vibration analysis of boron-nitride micro ribbon (BNMR) on the Pasternak elastic foundation under electrical, mechanical and thermal loadings using modified strain gradient theory (MSGT) is studied. Employing the von $K{\acute{a}}rm{\acute{a}}n$ nonlinear geometry theory, the nonlinear equations of motion for the graphene micro ribbon (GMR) using Euler-Bernoulli beam model with considering attached mass and size effects based on Hamilton's principle is obtained. These equations are converted into the nonlinear ordinary differential equations by elimination of the time variable using Kantorovich time-averaging method. To determine nonlinear frequency of GMR under various boundary conditions, and considering mass effect, differential quadrature element method (DQEM) is used. Based on modified strain MSGT, the results of the current model are compared with the obtained results by classical and modified couple stress theories (CT and MCST). Furthermore, the effect of various parameters such as material length scale parameter, attached mass, temperature change, piezoelectric coefficient, two parameters of elastic foundations on the natural frequencies of BNMR is investigated. The results show that for all boundary conditions, by increasing the mass intensity in a fixed position, the linear and nonlinear natural frequency of the GMR reduces. In addition, with increasing of material length scale parameter, the frequency ratio decreases. This results can be used to design and control nano/micro devices and nano electronics to avoid resonance phenomenon.
This article deals with the frequency analysis of viscoelastic sandwich disk with graphene nano-platelets (GPLs) reinforced viscoelastic concrete (GPLRVC) face sheets and honeycomb core. The honeycomb core is made of aluminum due to its low weight and high stiffness. The rule of the mixture and modified Halpin-Tsai model are engaged to provide the effective material constant of the concrete. By employing Hamilton's principle, the governing equations of the structure are derived and solved with the aid of the Generalize Differential Quadrature Method (GDQM). In this paper, viscoelastic properties are modeled according to Kelvin-Voigt viscoelasticity. The deflection as the function of time can be solved by the fourth-order Runge-Kutta numerical method. Afterward, a parametric study is carried out to investigate the effects of the outer to inner radius ratio, hexagonal core angle, thickness to length ratio of the concrete, the weight fraction of GPLs into concrete, and the thickness of honeycomb core to inner radius ratio on the frequency of the viscoelastic sandwich disk with honeycomb core and FG-GPLRVC face sheet.
The most widely used method for searching contents of mot ion picture compares contents by extracted cuts. The cut extract ion methods, such as CHD(Color Histogram Difference) or ECR(Edge Change Ratio), are very weak at modifications such as cropping, resizing and low bit rate. The suggested method uses audio contents for indexing and searching to make search be robust against these modification. Scenes of audio contents are extracted for modification-robust search. And based on these scenes, make spectral powers binary on each frequency bin. in the time-frequency domain. The suggested method shows failure rate less than 1% on the false positive error and the true negative error to the modified(using cropping, clipping, row bit rate, addtive frame) contents.
