  • A DSP-based robust nonlinear speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) which is robust to unknown parameter variations and speed measurement error is presented. The model reference adaptive system(MRAS) based adaptation mechanisms for the estimation of slowly varying parameters are derived using the Lyapunov stability theory. For the disturbances or quickly varying parameters. a quasi-linearized and decoupled model including the influence of parameter variations and speed measurement error on the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is derived. Based on this model, a boundary layer integral sliding mode controller to improve the robustness and performance of the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is designed and compared with the conventional controller. To show the validity of the proposed control scheme, simulations and experimental works are carried out and compared with the conventional control scheme.

  • In this paper, the boundedness of adjustable parameters for the model reference adaptive control(MRAC) system using a constant reference signal is discussed. This analysis is motivated by that it is possibel to verify the existence, boundedness and bounded range of the parameter as well as the stability of the adaptive system with an alternative propoerty of Lyapunov function. For two adaptive laws; a general gradient mothod(GGM) and a least square method(LSM), unique solution set in parameter space can be estabilished by a new approach suggeste here. Computer simulation results to show the effect of parameter space analysis are also examined.

  • In this paper, simultaneous estimation of rotor speed and time constant for a voltage source inverter (VSI) fed induction motor drive are disccussed. The theory is based on the Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS). The identifier executes Simultaneous rotor speed and time constant so that vector control of the induction may be achieved in the rotor-flux oriented reference frame. Furthermore, to eliminate the offset error caused by the change in the stator resistance, a fuzzy resistance regulator is also designed which operates in parallel with the rotor speed and time constant identifier

  • This paper discusses a model reference adaptive control for a multi-input multi-output continuos system in matrix fraction description. The controller is of Monopoli-Narendra type with a time-varying gain matrix in the parameter adaptation law. The transfer matrix of the given plant with an adjustable controller is made to approach to that of the reference model asymptotically. It is shown that, under some plausible assumptions such as on the knowlidge of an interactor matrix, the algorithm for a single-input single-output system can be appropriately extended to a multi-input multi-output system. The convergence of an adaptation law is estavlished with some stability theory and stability of the overall system is asserted by an analytical investigation.

  • This paper describes a control scheme of speed sensorless fuzzy direct torque control (FDTC) of permanent magnet synchronous motor for electric vehicle (EV). Electric vehicle requires fast torque response and high efficiency of the drive. Speed sensorless FDTC In-wheel PMSM drives without mechanical speed sensors at the motor shaft have the attractions of low cost, quick response and high reliability in electric vehicle application. This paper presents a new approach to estimate the speed of in-wheel electrical vehicles based on Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS). The direct torque control suffers in low speeds due to the effect of changes in stator resistance on the flux measurements. To improve the system performance at low speeds, a PI-fuzzy resistance estimator is proposed to eliminate the error due to changes in stator resistance. High performance sensorless drive of the in-wheel motor based on MRAS with on line stator resistance tuning is established for four motorized wheels electric vehicle and the whole system is simulated by matalb/simulink. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the new control strategy. This proposed control strategy is extensively used in electric vehicle application.

  • In this paper, the design of PID controller using Neural networks for the control of non-linear system is presented. First, non-linear system is identified using BPN(Backpropagation Network) algorithm. This identified model is connected to the PID controller and the parameters of PID controller are updated to the direction of reducing the difference between the identified model output and model reference output in arbitrary input signal. Therefore, identified model output tracks the model reference output in an acceptable error range and the parameters of controller are updated adaptively. The output of the system has a good performance in case of both noisy and noiseless model reference and we can control the system stable in off-line when the dynamics of the system is changed.

  • In this paper, a reconfigurable model following flight control method is proposed based on direct adaptive scheme using parameter estimation. Adaptive control scheme updates the control gains to make the system output follow the reference output even when fault occurs. By adopting the frequency domain parameter estimation method, system changes by the fault can be estimated. Recursive Fourier transformation is used for system identification. Using recursive Fourier transform, the proposed adaptive control algorithm guarantees the system stability and improves the system characteristics. To evaluate the performance of proposed control method, numerical simulations are performed.

  • This paper proposes a nonlinear adaptive controller based on back-stepping method for tracking reference substrate concentration by manipulating dilution rate in a continuous baker´s yeast cultivating process in stirred tank bioreactor. Control law is obtained from Lyapunov control function to ensure asymptotical stability of the system. The Haldane model for the specific growth rate depending on only substrate concentration is used in this paper. Due to the uncertainty of specific growth rate, it has been modified as a function including the unknown parameter with known bounded values. The substrate concentration in the bioreactor and feed line are measured. The deviation from the reference is observed when the external disturbance such as the change of the feed is introduced to the system ...
