  • It is necessary first to understand dynamic characteristics of bus full BIW assembly for fatigue endurance analysis. FE model has been used usually for analyzing the dynamic behavior of structures. A lot of experience and effort, however, is necessary to make the credible FE model. Experimental modal analysis of structures has been performed to verify the credibility of initial FE model and to update the model. In this work, experimental modal analysis was performed to understand dynamic characteristics of bus full BIW assembly in free-free boundary condition and the result was used to verify the initial FE model. In addition, some practical techniques, which were used in this experiment, were mentioned.

  • In this paper we propose a model for checking integrity constraints of mobile databases called Three-Level (3-L) model, wherein the process of constraint checking to maintain the consistent state of mobile databases is realized at three different levels. Sufficient and complete tests proposed in the previous works together with the idea of caching relevant data items for checking the integrity constraints are adopted. This has improved the checking mechanism by preventing delays during the process of checking constraints and performing the update. Also, the 3-L model reduces the amount of data accessed given that much of the tasks are performed at the mobile host, and hence speeds up the checking process.

  • In this paper, we develop system to backup automatically personal data by real time based on ECA model. This system backups data that is changed in user PC using CDP technology based on ECA model. Proposed ECA model defines file's change such as file creation, update, remove etc. in user PC to event for synchronization between server and user PC. If event is detected about file, proposed system examines condition that is defined and backup the file to server. Backup data that is stored to server can recovery on point of time that user wants. The proposed system can be applied to data management system for business, personal data management system, high-capacity contents management system etc.

  • For several years, researchers have focused on improving the integration of the CAD, CAM and Analysis through a better communication between the various analysis tools. This tendency to integrate the CAD/Analysis and automation of the corresponding processes requires data sharing between the various tasks using an integrated product model. We are interested in this research orientation to CAD/CAM/Analysis integration by rebuilding the CAD model (BREP), starting from the Analysis results (deformed mesh). Because this problem is complex, it requires to be split into several complementary parts. This paper presents an original interoperability process between the CAD and CAE. This approach is based on a new technique of rebuilding the CAD surface model (Nurbs, Bezier, etc.) starting from triangulation (meshed surface) as a main step of the BREP solid model. In our work, the advantages of this approach are identified using a centrifugal pump example.

  • This study describes optimization methods for adjustment of helicopter main rotor tracking and balancing (RTB). RTB is a essential process for helicopter operation and maintenance. Linear and non-linear models were developed with past RTB test results for estimation of RTB adjustment. Then global and sequential optimization methods were applied to the each of models. Utilization of the individual optimization method with each model is hard to fulfill the RTB requirements because of different characteristics of each blade. Therefore an ensemble model was used to integrate every estimated adjustment result, and an adaptive method was also applied to adjustment values of the linear model to update for next estimations. The goal of this developed RTB adjustment optimization program is to achieve the requirements within 2 run. Additional tests for comparison of weight factor of the ensemble model are however necessary.

  • Recently there has been some efforts to add XML full-text retrievals and XML updates into new standardization of XML queries. XML full-text retrievals plays an important role in XML query languages. of like tables in relational model an XML document has complex and unstructured natures. We believe that when we try to get some information from unstructured XML documents a full-text retrieval query is much more convenient approach than a regular structured query XML update is another core function that an XML query have to have. In this paper we propose an inverted index to support XML updates and XML full-text queries in relational environment. Performance comparisons exhibit that our approach maintains a comparable size of inverted indexes and it supports many full-text retrieval functions very well. It also shows very stable retrieval performance especially for large size of XML documents. Foremost our approach handles XML updates efficiently by removing cascading effects.

  • When an emergency situation happens in buildings, the top priority is to ensure the occupant from danger as soon as possible. Achieving that goal is a multifaceted and difficult task. However, current evacuation systems have many deficiencies in dealing with the emergency in multi-level structures. The shortage of abilities to continuously update database, predict the future situation and provide the information to users with contextual information is the limit in current systems. Thus, it is very crucial to introduce Evacuation Information System (EIS), which is able to respond quickly to the emergency, and transfer the information to both the administrator and the occupant. The main purpose of this paper is to build EIS on the basis of the indoor Geographical Information System (GIS). When the emergency happens, EIS gives the instruction to Emergency Response Model (ERM) at once. ERM carries out the order and calculates the optimal evacuation routes, then sends the result to EIS. At last, EIS transmits evacuation messages to the occupant who implements evacuation plan. This paper highlights the benefits of EIS in two aspects. One is that EIS can update the data continuously to support evacuation strategy-making. The other is that it can transmit evacuation messages to both the administrator and the occupant.

  • Mobile IP (MIP) is the solution supporting the mobility of Mobile Nodes (MNs), however, it is known to lack the support for NEtwork MObility (NEMO). NEMO manages situations when an entire network, composed of one or more subnets, dynamically changes its point of attachment to the Internet. NEMO Basic Support (NBS) protocol ensures session continuity for all the nodes in a mobile network, however, there exists a serious pinball routing problem. To overcome this weakness, there are many Route Optimization (RO) solutions such as Bi-directional Tunneling (BT) mechanism, Aggregation and Surrogate (A&S) mechanism, Recursive Approach, etc. The A&S RO mechanism is known to outperform the other RO mechanisms, except for the Binding Update (BU) cost. Although Improved Prefix Delegation (IPD) reduces the cost problem of Prefix Delegation (PD), a well-known A&S protocol, the BU cost problem still presents, especially when a large number of Mobile Routers (MRs) and MNs exist in the environment such as train, bus, ship, or aircraft. In this paper, a solution to reduce the cost of delivering the BU messages is proposed using a multicast mechanism instead of unicasting such as the traditional BU of the RO. The performance of the proposed multicast-based BU scheme is examined with an analytical model which shows that the BU cost enhancement is up to 32.9% over IPDbased, hence, it is feasible to predict that the proposed scheme could benefit in other NEMO RO protocols.

  • Recently, as the number of mobile users keeps increasing explosively, the location management to track the mobile users in mobile communication systems is being more important. However, the previous location management schemes have been used static location information without the consideration of a user's moving direction. This results in unnecessary pagings, consequently it increases location management costs. In this paper, we propose a mew location management costs. In this paper, we propose a new location the cell occurred a location update. It also determines whether the location update will be executed or not, by the offset operation of direction vector. Thus, a user's paging areas are generated dynamically along the user's moving direction. The wide of paging areas is also determined dynamically. Besides, we present analytic model for our scheme. To compare with our scheme, the distance-based scheme is analyzed. The numerical result shows that our scheme is more efficient than the distance-based scheme in the most cases except a low CMR. Particularly if a user move into a specific direction, our scheme has the lower location management cost than that of the distance-based scheme.

  • In this paper, a graph data model is introduced to effectively recognize the situation between each object on the road detected by vehicles or road infrastructure sensors. The proposed method builds a graph database by modeling each object on the road as a node of the graph and the relationship between objects as an edge of the graph, and updates object properties and edge properties in real time. In this case, the relationship between objects represented as edges is set when there is a possibility of approach between objects in consideration of the position, direction, and speed of each object. Finally, we propose a spatial indexing technique for graph nodes and edges to update the road object graph database represented through the proposed graph modeling method continuously in real time. To show the superiority of the proposed indexing technique, we compare the proposed indexing based database update method to the non-indexing update method through simulation. The results of the simulation show the proposed method outperforms more than 10 times to the non-indexing method.
