In the ACI Code, the empirical equations governing deep beam design are based on low-strength concrete specimens with $f_{ck}$ in the range of 14 to 40MPa. As high-strength concrete(HSC) is becoming more and more popular, it is timely to evaluate the application of HSC deep beam. For the shear strength prediction of HSC deep beams, this paper proposed Softened Strut-and-Tie Model(SSTM) considered HSC and bending moment effect. The shear strength predictions of the proposed model, the Appendix A Strut-and-Tie Model of ACI 318-02, and Eq. of ACI 318-99 11.8 are compared with the experimental test results of 4 deep beams and the collected experimental data of 74 HSC deep beams, compressive strength in the range of 49~78MPa. The proposed SSTM performance consistently reproduced 74 HSC deep beam measured shear strength with reasonable accuracy for a wide range of concrete strength, shear span-depth ratio, and ratio of horizontal and vertical reinforcement.
Recently, analysis researches on durability are focused on chloride attack and carbonation due to increased social and engineering significance. Generally, chloride penetration and carbonation occur simultaneously except for in submerged condition and chloride behavior in carbonated concrete is evaluated to be different from that in normal concrete. Furthermore, if unavoidable crack occurs in concrete, it influences not only single attack but also coupled deterioration more severely. This is a study on analysis technique with system dynamics for chloride penetration in concrete structures exposed to coupled chloride attack and carbonation through chloride diffusion, permeation, and carbonation reaction. For the purpose, a modeling for chloride behavior considering diffusion and permeation is performed through previous models for early-aged concrete such as MCHHM (multi component hydration heat model) and MPSFM (micro pore structure formation). Then model for combined deterioration is developed considering changed characteristics such as pore distribution, saturation and dissociation of bound chloride content under carbonation. The developed model is verified through comparison with previous experimental data. Additionally, simulation for combined deterioration in cracked concrete is carried out through utilizing previously developed models for chloride penetration and carbonation in cracked concrete. From the simulated results, CCTZ (chloride-carbonation transition zone) for evaluating combined deterioration is proposed. It is numerically verified that concrete with slag has better resistance to combined deterioration than concrete with OPC in sound and cracked concrete.
The reduction phenomena of concrete compressive strength with the size of specimens have been extensively investigated, but till now the adequate analysis technique is not fixed. The existing research results show that the bigger the member size, the smaller the strength. This means the nonlinear fracture mechanics theory is needed in order to analyze the fracture behaviors of concrete and the size effect. There is a few model equations that is to predict the size effect of compressive strength of standard and non-standard cylindrical specimen. However, theses equations did not considered the difference of fracturing mechanism which depends on the strength level. In this paper, model equations to predict compressive strength of concrete considering the size effect and strength level are suggested. The size effect model suggested in this paper shows good prediction compared with the existing test data of various concrete size and strength level.

Recently, construction technology of RC structures must be examined for creep in concrete. The factors affecting the creep prediction of concrete and the results of creep in domestic construction field were reviewed. The longer the creep test period and the higher the compressive strength, the higher the creep prediction accuracy. The higher the curing temperature, the higher the initial strength development of the concrete, but the difference in the creep coefficients increased over time. Based on the results of creep evaluation in the domestic construction field and lab. tests, a modified predictive model that complements the ACI-209 model was proposed. In the creep prediction of real members using general to high strength concrete, the test period and temperature should be considered precisely.
In this study, fracture formation and fracture volume by blasting demolition of model reinforced concrete pillars were compared with various vertical load and influence of reinforced steel bar. The more vertical load increased, the more tensile cracks and vertical direction cracks produced. In vertical load of 2.0ton, tensile cracks on vertical direction were predominantly produced. Generally, the more vertical load increased, the more bending deformation of concrete steel bar decreased. As a result, vertical load was influenced fracture formation of concrete and bending deformation of reinforced steel bar. Reinforced steel bar was influenced fracture volume of concrete. According to vertical load and influence of reinforce steel bar by blasting demolition of reinforced concrete pillars, drilling and blasting pattern may be modified.
This paper aims to develop a prediction model for the hardened properties of waste LCD glass that is used in concrete by analyzing a series of laboratory test results, which were obtained in our previous study. We also summarized the testing results of the hardened properties of a variety of waste LCD glass concretes and discussed the effect of factors such as the water-binder ratio (w/b), waste glass content (G) and age (t) on the concrete compressive strength, flexural strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity. This study also applied a hyperbolic function, an exponential function and a power function in a non-linear regression analysis of multiple variables and established the prediction model that could consider the effect of the water-binder ratio (w/b), waste glass content (G) and age (t) on the concrete compressive strength, flexural strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity. Compared with the testing results, the statistical analysis shows that the coefficient of determination $R^2$ and the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) were 0.93-0.96 and 5.4-8.4% for the compressive strength, 0.83-0.89 and 8.9-12.2% for the flexural strength and 0.87-0.89 and 1.8-2.2% for the ultrasonic pulse velocity, respectively. The proposed models are highly accurate in predicting the compressive strength, flexural strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity of waste LCD glass concrete. However, with other ranges of mixture parameters, the predicted models must be further studied.

Recent research on steel moment-resisting connection between steel beams and concrete filled steel tubes has shown that there are considerable advantages to be obtained by anchoring the connection to the concrete infill within the tube using anchors in blind bolts. In the research reported here, extensive experimental tests and numerical analyses have been performed to study the anchorage behaviour of cogged deformed reinforcing bars within concrete filled circular steel tubes. This data in essential knowledge for the design of the steel connections that use anchored blind bolts, both for strength and stiffness. A series of pull-out tests were conducted using steel tubes with different diameter to thickness ratios under monotonic and cyclic loading. Both hoop strains and longitudinal strains in the tubes were measured together with applied load and slip. Various lead-in lengths before the bend and length of tailed extension after the bend were examined. These dimensions were limited by the dimensions of the steel tube and did not meet the requirements for "standard" cogs as specified in concrete standards such as AS 3600 and ACI 318. Nevertheless, all of the tested specimens failed by bar fracture outside the steel tubes. A comprehensive 3D Finite Element model was developed to simulate the pull-out tests. The FE model took into account material nonlinearities, deformations in reinforcing bars and interactions between different surfaces. The FE results were found to be in good agreement with experimental results. This model was then used to conduct parametric studies to investigate the influence of the confinement provided by the steel tube on the infilled concrete.
The purpose of this paper is to present an analysis method which can exactly analyze load-deflection
relationships. crack propagations and stresses and strains of steel reinforccnlent and concrete in hehaviors of elastic, mclastic and ultlmate ranges of reinforced concretc beams under
monotonically increasing loads. For these purposes, the material nonlinearities are taken into account
by comprising the tension. compression and shear models of cracked concrete and a model
for reinforcement in the concrete. Smeared crack model is used as a modeling of concrete. The
steel reinforcement is assumed to be in an uniaxial stress state and modeled srncaretl layers of
eqivalent thickness and line elernents for correct positiori arid behavior.
For the verification of application and validity of the method proposed in this paper, several
numerical examples are analyzed and compared with those from other researchers. As a results,
this method shown in 3.5-15(%) error is correct.

In recent years, the use of supplementary cementing materials, especially in addition to concrete, has been the subject of many researches. Rice husk ash (RHA) is one of these materials that in this research, is added to the roller compacted concrete as one of the pozzolanic materials. This paper evaluates how different contents of RHA added to the roller compacted concrete pavement specimens, can influence on the strength and permeability. The results are compared to the control samples and determined optimal level of RHA replacement. As it was expected, RHA as supplementary cementitious materials, improved mechanical properties of roller compacted concrete pavement (RCCP). Also, the application of adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) in predicting the permeability and compressive strength is investigated. The obtained results shows that the predicted value by this model is in good agreement with the experimental, which shows the proposed ANFIS model is a useful, reliable, fast and cheap tool to predict the permeability and compressive strength. A mean relative error percentage (MRE %) less than 1.1% is obtained for the proposed ANFIS model. Also, the test results and performed modeling show that the optimal value for obtaining the maximum compressive strength and minimum permeability is offered by substituting 9% and 18% of the cement by RHA, respectively.
This paper presents damage detection and estimation of stiffness parameter on a concrete scale model and a real structure of concrete pontoon using dynamic properties such as mode shapes and natural frequencies. In case of damage detection, dynamic impact test on a concrete scale model is accomplished to extract mode shapes and the practicality is verified by utilizing a damage detection technique. And the stiffness parameter of a real structure of concrete pontoon was estimated via system identification technique using the natural frequencies of the structure. The results indicate that the damaged elements of the scale model are found exactly using damage detection technique and the effective stiffness property of the real structure of concrete pontoon can be estimated by system identification technique.
