Dynamic analysis and compensation design for an asymmetrical half bridge do-dc converter are presented. A small-signal model is developed using the averaging method. Based on the proposed small-signal average model, the open loop transfer functions of the power stage were obtained and used for the compensation design. All theoretical predictions are validated by experiments on a prototype converter.
This paper presents dynamic analyses and control design of the current-mode controlled active-clamp forward-flyback converter. The circuit averaging technique is used to extract the small-signal circuit model for the power stage From the small-signal circuit model of the power stage, the open-loop transfer functions are derived and used for the compensation design. The analysis results are verified using an experimental converter that delivers a 3.3V/10A output from a $40\~60V$ input source.
Cross regulation is a key technical issue of single-inductor multiple-output (SIMO) DC-DC converters. This paper investigates the cross regulation in single-inductor dual-output (SIDO) Buck converters with continuous conduction mode (CCM) operation. The expressions of the DC voltage gain, control to the output transfer function, cross regulation transfer function, cross coupled transfer function and impedance transfer function of the converter are presented by the time averaging equivalent circuit approach. A small signal model of a SIDO CCM Buck converter is built to analyze this cross regulation. The laws of cross regulation with respect to various load conditions are investigated. Simulation and experiment results verify the theoretical analysis. This study will be helpful for converter design to reduce the cross regulation. In addition, a control strategy to reduce cross regulation is performed.
A brief introduction is given on the conditional moment closure model for turbulent nonpremixed combustion. It is based on the transport equations derived through a rigorous mathematical procedure for the conditionally averaged quantities and appropriate modeling forms for conditional scalar dissipation rate, conditional mean velocity and reaction rate. Examples are given for prediction of NO and OR in bluffbody flames, soot distribution in jet flames and autoignition of a methane/ethane jet to predict the ignition delay with respect to initial temperature, pressure and fuel composition. Conditional averaging may also be a powerful modeling concept in other approaches involved in turbulent combustion problems in various different regimes.

A multi-phase interleaved buck converter is used to reduce current ripples and filter size of a power supply. This paper addresses the modelling and steady-state analysis of the multi-phase interleaved buck converter operated in discontinuous inductor current mode. The model is derived using an averaging technique in steady state. The do voltage ratio and the range of the discontinuous inductor current mode(DICM) and the continuous output current mode(COCM) are derived from the averaged state-space model. In addition, the efficiency is investigated according to the number of phase.

In general, fretting is a contact damage process due to micro-slip associated with small amplitude oscillatory movement between two surfaces in contact. Previous studies in fretting fatigue have observed a contact size effect related to contact width. The volume-averaging method of theoretically predicted contact stress fields was required to emulate experimental trends and to predict the observed contact size effects. This contact size effect is captured by the mean values of stresses and strains at the element integration points of FE model and two critical plane models (SWT, FS) in the present paper. It is shown that crack nucleation and fretting fatigue life can be predicted by the FE-based critical plane models.
The present study has been conducted to estimate the chemical flame height based on fuel consumption in fire field model. The calculation algorithms based on cumulative fraction of HRRPUL and fuel concentration along the z axis were applied to the results predicted by Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) version 6.3.2 and the mean chemical flame height was obtained by time averaging of instantaneous flame height with the algorithms. The mean flame height calculated by fuel concentration was quite well matched with that of cumulative value of HRRPUL within 10% over-prediction. This study contribute to a more detailed understanding of fire behavior and quantitative evaluation of flame height in the computational fire model.

This study proposes a small-signal model and control design for a two-stage DC-DC-AC converter to investigate its dynamic characteristics in relation to battery energy storage system. When the circuit analysis of the two-stage DC-DC-AC converter is attempted simultaneously, the mathematical procedure of deriving the dynamic equation is complex and difficult. The main idea of modeling the two-stage DC-DC-AC converter states that this topology is separated into a bidirectional DC-DC converter and a single-phase inverter with an equivalent current source corresponding to that of the inverter or converter. The dynamic equations for the separated converter and inverter are then derived using the state-space averaging technique. The procedures of building the small-signal model of the two-stage DC-DC-AC converter are described in detail. Based on the derived small-signal model, the individual controllers are designed through a frequency-domain analysis. The simulation and experimental results verify the validity of the proposed modeling approach and controller design.

A theoretical study on the turbulent round jet diffusion flame impinging on the wall was carried out to predict the characteristics and structure of Impinging jet flame and heat transfer to the wall. Finite chemistry via Arrhenius equation and eddy dissipation model was adopted as a combustion model, and the Favre averaging and $k-{\varepsilon}$ model were Introduced In the theoretical modeling. The SIMPLE algorithm was applied to the calculation. All the transport properties were considered as the variable depending on the temperature and composition. For the parametric study, the distance from nozzle to impinging wall and Reynolds number at nozzle exit were chosen 88 the major parameters. As the results of the present study, the characteristics of flow fields, the distributions of main variables and each chemical species and the flame shapes were obtained. The heat transfer rate from the flame to the wall and the effective heating area were calculated to investigate the Influences of the major parameters on the heat transfer characteristics.

To evaluate the hydraulic resistance behind bodies in a large scale grid numerical model, a drag stress term which is formulated by the drag force is introduced in the depth-integrated Reynolds equations. And also, the applicability and problems of this model are discussed through various numerical experiments where the analytical solutions exist. In the case of a single body, the error range of velocity difference between analytical and numerical solutions is within $\pm$10% and the wake width behind the body shows a good agreement with the analytical solution. When the drag coefficient and the eddy viscosity are precisely decided, the numerical solutions behind a row of bodies will be efficiently used in real situations.
