In this paper, we propose a dual-mode frequency tripler using push-push and stacked FET structures. The proposed circuit can operate either in frequency multiplier mode or in amplifier mode. In the frequency multiplier mode, push-push frequency multiplication is achieved by allowing input signals with particular phase shifts. In the amplifier mode, the device operates as a distributed amplifier to obtain high gain. Also both modes were designed using stacked FET structure. The designed circuit showed frequency tripled output power of 9.7 dBm at 2.4 GHz with the input at 800 MHz. On the other hand, in the amplifier mode, the device showed 8.9 dB of gain to generate 19.5 dBm at 800 MHz.

The characteristics of the unstable impinging circular jet is investigated based on the frequency characteristics and the sound field of the impinging-tones. Two symmetric modes S1 and S2, associated with low frequency and high frequency respectively, and one helical mode H have been observed. At low speed the S2 mode is dominant and switched by the S1 mode as the speed increases. When the jet speed is high the S1 mode is very active over the impinging distance from half the nozzle diameter to its ten times, while the S2 mode occurs at shorter distance corresponding to stage 2 and 3. The helical mode H seems unstable, likely to be influenced much by the experimental environment, and occurs at relatively high speed with almost the same frequency characteristics as the S2 mode. By estimating the convection speed of the unstable jet, it is found that the ratio of the convection speed to the jet speed decreases with both Strouhal number and Reynolds number and the speed of S2 mode is faster than the Si mode. When the present experimental results are compared with the previous investigations performed for the hole tone and the impinging tone with a small plate, the S1 mode is found to be associated with the ring vortex of large diameter with low speed, but the S2 mode with the vortex of small diameter with high speed. In addition, the frequency is found to be influenced by the nozzle configuration but the characteristics is almost the same. From the impinging distance and frequency range, it can be deduced that S1 mode is related with the jet column mode and S2 mode with the shear mode.

Aerodynamic flow control phenomena were investigated with a low-current DC surface discharge plasma actuator. The plasma actuator was found to operate in three different discharge modes with similar discharge currents of about 1 mA or less. Stable continuous DC discharge without audible noise was obtained at higher ballast resistances and lower discharge currents. However, even with continuous DC power input, a low-frequency self-pulsed discharge was obtained at lower ballast resistances, and a high-frequency self-pulsed discharge was obtained at higher set-point currents and higher ballast resistances, both with audible noise. The Schlieren image reveals that the low-frequency self-pulsed mode produces a synthetic jet-like flow implying that a gas heating effect plays a role, even though the discharge current is small. The high-frequency self-pulsed mode produces pulsed jets in a tangent direction, and the continuous DC mode produces a steady straight pressure wave. Particle image velocimetry (PIV) images reveal that the induced flow field by the low-frequency self-pulsed mode has flow propagating in the radial direction and centered between the electrodes. The high-frequency self-pulsed mode and continuous DC mode produce flow from the anode to the cathode. The perturbed region downstream of the cathode is larger in the high-frequency self-pulsed mode with similar maximum speeds.

The stress state acting on mechanical parts and structures is generally mixed stress. This complex stress state, which is subject to changes in the environment, will produce many. Cars running on roads with different road conditions will subject the automotive parts to combined stress state. In the x direction and the y direction, a different amplitude and frequency of the fatigue load can be present. However, the load amplitude for Mode I and Mode II in a 2-axis fatigue test is limited to a constant ratio; the load frequency is always the same for any mode. In this paper, it is verified how the variation of the load frequency for mode II affects the behavior of fatigue crack propagation under mixed mode.

Based on the experiment for the frequency characteristics and the feedback theory of the impinging-tones, the unstable characteristics of the symmetric mode is analyzed among the various unstable modes of circular impinging jets. There are two different symmetric modes; one is the low-frequency mode S1 due to the vortex at the outside of the jet and the high-frequency mode S2 due to the inside vortex. Each mode has its own characterictics of convection speed decreasing with frequency.

In this research, a MEMS vibratory gyroscope with dual-mass system in the sensing mode has been proposed to increase the stability of the device using wide bandwidth. A wide flat region between the two resonance peaks of the dual-mass system removes the need for a frequency matching typically required for single mass vibratory gyroscopes. Bandwidth, mass ratio, spring constant, and frequency response of the dual-mass system have been analyzed with MATLAB and ANSYS simulation. Designed first and second peaks of sensing mode are 5,917 and 8,210Hz, respectively. Driving mode resonance frequency of 7,180Hz was located in the flat region between the two resonance peaks of the sensing mode. The device is fabricated with anodically bonded silicon-on-glass substrate. The chip size is 6mm x 6mm and the thickness of the silicon device layer is $50{\mu}m$. Despite the driving mode resonance frequency decrease of 2.8kHz and frequency shift of 176Hz from the sensing mode due to fabrication imperfections, measured driving frequency was located within the bandwidth of sensing part, which validates the utilized dual-mass concept. Measured bandwidth was 768Hz. Sensitivity calculated with measured displacement of driving and sensing parts was 22.4aF/deg/sec. Measured slope of the sensing point was 0.008dB/Hz.
Vibration mode localization and frequency loci veering in disordered coupled beam system are studied in this paper using finite element analysis. Two beams coupled with transverse and rotational springs are examined. Small disorders in the physical parameters such as Young's modulus, mass density or span length of the substructure are introduced in the investigation of the mode localization and frequency loci veering phenomena. The effect of disorder in the elastic support on the mode localization phenomenon is also discussed. It is found that an asymmetric disorder in the weakly coupled system will lead to the occurrence of mode localization and frequency loci phenomena.

In the frequency response analysis using a modal method, it is very important to determine the number of modes involved with the formulation of a frequency response function. Most engineers are inclined to determine mode truncation with their experience. But it is difficult for non-experts to decide the mode truncation reasonably in many problems of dynamic analyses. In this study, fuzzy theory is used to standardize the empirical determination of mode truncation so that not only the experts but also non-experts can decide a proper mode truncation easily. Fuzzy rule base is based on the simulation results using finite element method. Numerical simulations show that the developed mode truncation method is a very effective method to choose the number of the considered modes.
This paper propose a "common mode voltage damper" that is capable of reducing the common mode voltage produced in the PWM VSI. An push-pull circuits and high frequency leakage current damper[1] are incorporated into the "common mode voltage damper", the design method of which is presented. Effect of "common mode voltage damper" is simulated in this paper verifies the viability and effectiveness in 2.2kW induction motor drive using IGBT inverter. Simulated results show that "common mode voltage damper" makes significant contributions to reducing a high frequency leakage current.ducing a high frequency leakage current.
This paper describes a new algorithm for encoding spectral shape and envelope in the generic mode of G.718 super-wide band (SWB). In the G.718 SWB coder, generic mode coding and sinusoidal enhancement are used for the quantization of modified discrete cosine transform (MDCT)-based parameters in the high frequency band. In the generic mode, the high frequency band is divided into sub-bands and for every sub-band the most similar match with the selected similarity criteria is searched from the coded and envelope normalized wideband content. In order to improve the quantization scheme in high frequency region of speech/audio signals, the modified generic mode by the improvement of the generic mode in G.718 SWB is proposed. In the proposed generic mode, perceptual vector quantization of spectral envelopes and the resolution increase for spectral copy are used. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated in terms of objective quality. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm increases the quality of sounds significantly.
