  • Mobile IP maintains Internet connectivity while Mobile Hosts moving from one Internet attachment point to another. However, Mobile If is not appropriate for seamless mobility. Some micromobility protocols were proposed to complement Mobile IP by offering fast and seamless handoff control in limited geographical areas. In this paper, a new scheme, based on path prediction and resource reservation, is proposed to reduce the handoff latency by trying to eliminate the link setup time for fast handoff in all-IP wireless networks. Analytical results show that the proposed scheme offers shorter handoff delay and can improve the handoff efficiency.

  • Despite the fact that the deployment of sensor networks and target tracking could both be managed by taking full advantage of Voronoi diagrams, very little few have been made in this regard. In this paper, we designed an optimized barrier coverage and an energy-efficient clustering algorithm for forming Vonoroi-based Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN) in which we proposed a mobile target tracking scheme (CTT&MAV) that takes full advantage of Voronoi-diagram boundary to improve detectability. Simulations verified that CTT&MAV outperforms random walk, random waypoint, random direction and Gauss-Markov in terms of both the average hop distance that the mobile target moved before being detected and lower sensor death rate. Moreover, we demonstrate that our results are robust as realistic sensing models and also validate our observations through extensive simulations.

  • In Korea, the mobile telecommunication service market is expanding rapidly and becoming more competitive. For service providers in such a dynamic environment, it is very important to accurately forecast demand including market potential in order to work out marketing strategies. In this paper, we suggest a general approach to forecast the market potential using a multinomial logit model, which is applied to individual-level market survey data. Then we develop a dynamic market potential model that can adapt to changes in the external environment without requiring further market survey. The proposed model is applied to the mobile telecommunication service market in Korea.

  • As well as the development of the measurement of service quality, various kinds of service measurements are also being developed. Especially the mobile telecommunication service being representative to the mobile telecommunication company would be the mostly developed area. Its development can be understood along with the development of the telecommunication companies as well as cellular companies, not only the service alone. It is a differentiated phenomenon in the current research, such as the organic influence between the service quality and product. Of course there are such products placed on sale and enjoyed the common service, but at present there is another case that the product is on the market exclusively with the mobile company in here.

  • So far, artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) has produced impressive results in speech recognition, computer vision, and natural language processing. AI/ML has recently begun to show promise as a viable means for improving the performance of 5G mobile telecommunication systems. This paper investigates standardization activities in 3GPP and O-RAN Alliance regarding AI/ML applications on mobile telecommunication system. Future trends in AI/ML technologies are also summarized. As an overarching technology in 6G, there appears to be no doubt that AI/ML could contribute to every part of mobile systems, including core, RAN, and air-interface, in terms of performance enhancement, automation, cost reduction, and energy consumption reduction.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there were differences in sound quality among telecommunication service providers(SPs). To avoid the influence of brand of SPs and mobile phone manufacturer, a series of structured experiments was planed. Possible source of sound difference were tested such as specific genres of music, contents providers, mp3 players for PC, and mobile phone manufacturers. The results show there are differences of sound quality among telecommunication service providers(SPs). But the difference comes from contents, mobile phone, and MP3 player for PC. The same model of mobile phone from the manufacturer sounded differently depending on telecommunication service providers(SPs). The genre of music did not show consistent difference in sound quality.

  • Mobile radio technologies have evolved in the railway industry offering seamless connectivity and various functionalities to improve railway service. Recently, advanced mobile communication technologies have enabled a new level of railway customer services with more efficient railway operation. Since the LTE mobile communication technology offers many benefits and better performance for new railway services, it is considered to be a strong candidate for the future railway mobile telecommunication. However, communication networks in the railway sector are critical for secure operation and have stringent requirements for reliability and safety. In this paper, we explain the requirements for the future railway mobile telecommunication. The LTE, which would be the future railway mobile technology, is analyzed against these requirements. We also introduce the current state of standardization for the future railway mobile telecommunication and its implementation plan.

  • In this paper, we have presented the improved IF transceiver architecture and the implementation and experimental results on re-configurable transceiver based on digital IF for multiple wideband OFDM/TDD base stations for high-speed portable internet-service in which is issued Korea. The implemented IF transceiver has been designed to support multiple frequency allocations and multiple standards by only modifying the programmable software not its hardware like as the software-defined-radio concept. Also, the digital complex quadrature modulation technique has been used for the digital IF transmitter, which is able to combine multiple frequency bands in digital processing block not RF block and to reject the image frequency signals. And the bandpass sampling technique has been used for the digital IF receiver to reduce the sampling rate of ADC. This paper has shown the experiment results on the frequency response and constellation on the base-station implemented using the modified IEEE 802.16a/e physical layer channel structure based on OFDM/TDD.
