In practice, this Lifesaver has many applications, and it can be easily combined with other applications as well to determine the emergency of humans. For example, if an old human falls due to some medical reasons, then this application is automatically determining the human state and then calls a person from this emergency contact list. Moreover, if the car accidentally crashes due to an accident, then the Lifesaver application is also helping to call a person who is on the emergency contact list to save human life. Therefore, the main objective of this project is to develop an application that can save human life. As a result, the proposed Lifesaver application is utilized to assist the person to get immediate attention in case of absence of help in four different situations. To develop the Lifesaver system, the GPS is also integrated to get the exact location of a human in case of emergency. Moreover, the emergency list of friends and authorities is also maintained to develop this application. To test and evaluate the Lifesaver system, the 50 different human data are collected with different age groups in the range of (40-70) and the performance of the Lifesaver application is also evaluated and compared with other state-of-the-art applications. On average, the Lifesaver system is achieved 95.5% detection accuracy and the value of 91.5 based on emergency index metric, which is outperformed compared to other applications in this domain.

  • There are various researches on MPEG techniques. MPEG technique is used to digital TV(DTV) and internet image communication. Connection method between server and client is usually using wire. Applications may be expanded, if wireless technology is used between server and client system. In this paper, Bluetooth is used for connection method between server and client. Bluetooth offers fast and reliable transmissions of both voice and data over the globally available 2.4GHz ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band. One of the major application purposes of Bluetooth is the cable replacement for mobile and peripheral devices. Bluetooth has the advantage of small size, low power and low cost. It has the disadvantage of limited bandwidth and limited range. In order to transfer effectively image Information between server and client using Bluetooth, we apply MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 image compression techniques and the results are compared with each other.

  • Objectives: This paper describes an experience of implementing seamless service trials online and offline by adopting Internet of Things (IoT) technology based on near-field communication (NFC) tags and Bluetooth low-energy (BLE) beacons. The services were provided for both patients and health professionals. Methods: The pilot services were implemented to enhance healthcare service quality, improve patient safety, and provide an effective business process to health professionals in a tertiary hospital in Seoul, Korea. The services to enhance healthcare service quality include healing tours, cancer information/education, psychological assessments, indoor navigation, and exercise volume checking. The services to improve patient safety are monitoring of high-risk inpatients and delivery of real-time health information in emergency situations. In addition, the services to provide an effective business process to health professionals include surveys and web services for patient management. Results: Considering the sustainability of the pilot services, we decided to pause navigation and patient monitoring services until the interference problem could be completely resolved because beacon signal interference significantly influences the quality of services. On the other hand, we had to continue to provide new wearable beacons to high-risk patients because of hygiene issues, so the cost increased over time and was much higher than expected. Conclusions: To make the smart connected hospital services sustainable, technical feasibility (e.g., beacon signal interference), economic feasibility (e.g., continuous provision of new necklace beacons), and organizational commitment and support (e.g., renewal of new alternative medical devices and infrastructure) are required.

  • The EEG system can be classified as a wired or wireless device. Each device used for the medical or entertainment purposes. The collected EEG signals from sensor are analyzed using feature extractions. A wireless EEG system provides good portability and convenience, however, it requires a mobile system that has heavy computing power. In this paper a single board system is proposed to handle EEG signal processing for BCI applications. Unfortunately, the computing power of a single board system is limited unlike general desktop systems. Thus, parallel approach using multiple single board systems is investigated. The parallel EEG signal processing system that we built demonstrates superlinear speedup for an EEG signal processing algorithm.
