Clustering-Based Mobile Gateway Management in Integrated CRAHN-Cloud Network

  • The limited storage and computing capacity hinder the development of cognitive radio ad hoc networks (CRAHNs). To solve the problem, a new paradigm of cloud-based CRAHN has been proposed, in which a CRAHN will make use of the computation and storage resources of the cloud. This paper envisions an integrated CRAHN-cloud network architecture. In this architecture, some cognitive radio users (CUs) who satisfy the required metrics could perform as mobile gateway candidates to connect other ordinary CUs with the cloud. These mobile gateway candidates are dynamically clustered according to different related metrics. Cluster head and time-to-live value are determined in each cluster. In this paper, the gateway advertisement and discovery issues are first addressed to propose a hybrid gateway discovery mechanism. After that, a QoS-based gateway selection algorithm is proposed for each CU to select the optimal gateway. Simulations are carried out to evaluate the performance of the overall scheme, which incorporates the proposed clustering and gateway selection algorithms. The results show that the proposed scheme can achieve about 11% higher average throughput, 10% lower end-to-end delay, and 8% lower packet drop fractions compared with the existing scheme.

  • Clustering is one of the key technologies in vehicular networks. Constructing and maintaining stable clusters is a challenging task in high mobility environments. DWCM (Distributed and Weighted Clustering based on Mobility Metrics) is proposed in this paper based on the d-hop dominating set of the network. Each vehicle is assigned a priority that describes the cluster relationship. The cluster structure is determined according to the d-hop dominating set, where the vehicles in the d-hop dominating set act as the cluster head nodes. In addition, cluster maintenance handles the cluster structure changes caused by node mobility. The rationality of the proposed algorithm is proven. Simulation results in the NS-2 and VanetMobiSim integrated environment demonstrate the performance advantages.

  • Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) is a network which consists of sensor nodes(SNs) in data collection area. It is hard for the SNs to replace battery. Thus energy and transfer efficiency is important because the energy is limited. In this paper, we propose energy-efficient data collection algorithm for wireless sensor networks by using mobile agent in distance-based cluster structure. For avoid collisions and guarantee low latency, make distance-based topology and build cluster by the topology. For performance comparison of the proposed algorithm, compare with existing mobile agent algorithm. When network constructed by 300 nodes, proposed algorithm has performance increase than existing algorithm(GCF, LCF, TBID) in network lifetime 194, 124.6, 1.46 times each and data merging energy efficiency 87.5%, 85%, 45% each.

  • A sensor network is an important element of the ubiquitous and it consists of sensor fields that contain sensor nodes and sink nodes that collect data from sensor nodes. Since each sensor node has limited resources, one of the important issues covered in the past sensor network studies has been maximizing the usage of limited energy to extend network lifetime. However, most studies have only considered fixed sink nodes, which created various problems for cases with multiple mobile sink nodes. Accordingly, while maintaining routes to mobile sink nodes, this study aims to deploy the hybrid communication mode that combines single and multi-hop modes for intra-cluster and inter-cluster transmission to resolve the problem of failed data transmission to mobile sink nodes caused by disconnected routes. Furthermore, a 2-level hierarchical routing protocol was used to reduce the number of sensor nodes participating in data transmission, and cross-shape trajectory forwarding was employed in packet transmission to provide an efficient data dissemination method.

  • In this paper, we propose a new hybrid type of the routing protocol (Virtual Cluster-based Routing Protocol: VCRP) for mobile ad-hoc networks, based on a virtual cluster, which is defined as a narrow-sense network to exchange the basic information related to the routing among the adjacent nodes. This particular approach combines advantage of proactive routing protocol (PRP), which immediately provides the route collecting the network-wide topological and metric information, with that of reactive routing protocol, which relies on the route query packet to collect the route information on its way to the destination without exchanging any information between nodes. Furthermore, it also provides the back-up route as a byproduct, along with the optimal route, which leads to the VCBRP (Virtual Cluster-based Routing Protocol with Backup Route) establishing the alternative route immediately after a network topology is changed due to degradation of link quality and terminal mobility, Our simulation studies have shown that the proposed routing protocols are robust against dynamics of network topology while improving the performances of packet transfer delay, link failure ratio, and throughput over those of the existing routing protocols without much compromising the control overhead efficiency.

  • The study aims to propose the intelligent clustering technique that calculates the distance by improving the problems of multi-hop clustering technique for inter-vehicular secure communications. After calculating the distance between vehicles with no connection for rapid transit and clustering it, the connection between nodes is created through a set distance vale. Header is selected by the distance value between nodes that become the identical members, and the information within a group is transmitted to the member nodes. After selecting the header, when the header is separated due to its mobility, the urgent situation may occur. At this time, the information transfer is prepared to select the new cluster header and transmit it through using the intelligent cluster provided from node by the execution of programs included in packet. The study proposes the cluster technique of the intelligent distance estimation for the mobile Ad-hoc network that calculates the cluster with the Store-Compute-Forward method that adds computing ability to the existing Store-and-Forward routing scheme. The cluster technique of intelligent distance estimation for the mobile Ad-hoc network suggested in the study is the active and intelligent multi-hop cluster routing protocol to make secure communications.

Improvement of location positioning using KNN, Local Map Classification and Bayes Filter for indoor location recognition system

  • In this paper, we propose a method that combines KNN(K-Nearest Neighbor), Local Map Classification and Bayes Filter as a way to increase the accuracy of location positioning. First, in this technique, Local Map Classification divides the actual map into several clusters, and then classifies the clusters by KNN. And posterior probability is calculated through the probability of each cluster acquired by Bayes Filter. With this posterior probability, the cluster where the robot is located is searched. For performance evaluation, the results of location positioning obtained by applying KNN, Local Map Classification, and Bayes Filter were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that even if the RSSI signal changes, the location information is fixed to one cluster, and the accuracy of location positioning increases.

  • In the Cluster-Based Routing Protocol (CBRP) a cluster header in each cluster should be elected. The cluster headers consume energy much more than other nodes because they manage and operate all of mobile nodes in their cluster. The traditional CBRP elects a cluster header without considering the remaining electric energy of each node. So, there exists problems that the cluster header has short average lifetime, and another cluster header should be elected again frequently. In this paper, we propose the improved protocol which prolongs the lifetime of the cluster header and enhances the stability of the path. In order to achieve this, when a cluster header is elected in a cluster, the remaining electric energies of all the nodes are compared with one another, and the node with the highest energy is elected as the cluster header.

  • One inevitable problem in Ad Hoc networks is the limited battery capacity, which explains why portable devices might shut down suddenly when the power of hardware is depleted. Hence, how to decrease the power consumption is an important issue in ad hoc networks. With the development of wireless technology, mobile devices can transmit voices, surf the Internet, download entertaining stuffs, and even support some P2P applications, like sharing real-time streaming. In order to keep the quality stable, the transmission must be continuous and it is thus necessary to select some managers to coordinate all nodes in a P2P community. In addition to assigning jobs to the staffs (children) when needed, these managers (ancestors) are able to reappoint jobs in advance when employees retire. This paper proposed a mechanism called Cluster-based Power Management (CPM) to stabilize the transmissions and increase Time to Live (TTL) of mobile hosts. In our new proposed method, we establish the clusters according to every node's joining order and capability, and adjust their sleep time dynamically through three different mathematical models. Our simulation results reveal that this proposed scheme not only reduces the power consumption efficiently, but also increases the total TTLs evidently.
