  • In this study, we find out the feasibility of self-consolidating concrete with EP nylon fiber. Three kinds of method were used; when length of nylon fiber is differed for the experiment to investigate usability of nylon fiber with enhanced performance by dispersing-agent coating in self-consolidating concrete, when mixing in other organic fibers (polypropylene, cellulose) and in case of Binary Blended and Ternary Blended concrete mixed with different types of mineral admixtures (blast-furnace slag and fly ash). Based on the results of the experiment described above, comparison was made on the basic properties and dynamic characteristics of general fiber reinforced concrete mixed with enhanced performance nylon fiber and SCC mixed with enhanced performance nylon fiber as a Mock-up test prior to the experiment of application to the actual structure. Considering characteristics and durability of the fresh and hardened self-compacting concrete, dynamic characteristics and durability were found to be more outstanding when using nylon fiber for the mineral admixtures used, dynamic characteristics and durability were found to be more outstanding when using blast-furnace slag.

  • In this work, we undertake a comparative study of the crystallographic microstructures and photo-catalytic properties of rutile $TiO_2$ nanorods grown on FTO facing up and down by a hydrothermal method. An analysis of the fine structures showed that $TiO_2$ nanorods grown on FTO facing up were mixed with sea urchin and microsphere. These structures induced a vertical orientation of the nanorods on FTO. The saturated photocurrent densities of the $TiO_2$ nanorods grown both up and down were $1.5mA/cm^2$ in the former case, the IPCE was increased to 10% at 300~350 nm. The onset potential (${\fallingdotseq}$ flat band potential) of the nanorods grown on FTO facing up is negatively shifted to a value of -0.31 V. This is caused by an increase in the surface state, in this case the number of oxygen vacancies, and by the formation of $Ti^{3+}$. Therefore, the FTO facing direction is considered as a critical factor during the hydrothermal reaction for $TiO_2$ growth so as to develop an efficient photo-catalytic system.

  • Bipolar disorder is a psychopathy characterized by manic and major depressive episodes. It is important to determine the degree of depression when treating patients with bipolar disorder because 810% of bipolar patients commit suicide during the periods in which they experience major depressive episodes. The Hamilton depression rating scale is most commonly used to estimate the degree of depression in a patient. This paper proposes using the Hamilton depression rating scale to estimate the effectiveness of patient treatment based on the linear mixed effects model and the transition model. Study subjects were recruited from the Seoul National University Bundang Hospital who scored 8 points or above in the Hamilton depression rating scale on their first medical examination. The linear mixed effects model and the transition model were fitted using the Hamilton depression rating scales measured at the baseline, six month, and twelve month follow-ups. Then, Hamilton depression rating scale at the twenty-four month follow-up was predicted using these models. The prediction models were then evaluated by comparing the observed and predicted Hamilton depression rating scales on the twenty-four month follow-up.

  • A novel approach for the feature selection is proposed, which is the important preprocessing task of on-line document classification. In previous researches, the features based on information from their single population for feature selection task have been selected. In this paper, a mixed feature set is constructed by selecting features from multi-population as well as single population based on various information. The mixed feature set consists of two feature sets: the original feature set that is made up of words on documents and the transformed feature set that is made up of features generated by LSA. The hybrid feature selection method using both filter and wrapper method is used to obtain optimal features set from the mixed feature set. We performed classification experiments using the obtained optimal feature sets. As a result of the experiments, our expectation that our approach makes better performance of classification is verified, which is over 90% accuracy. In particular, it is confirmed that our approach has over 90% recall and precision that have a low deviation between categories.

  • Recently, housing prices in metropolitan areas is also increasing in the UK and Australia. Their governments are trying to solve this problem by the housing development in the quarry sites near cities. The cases reviewed in this study, Erith Hill Quarry (The Quarry), Plymstock Quarry, Lilydale Quarry (Kinley), and Bombo Quarry are the mixed-used development cases in the closed quarry sites through the urban planning system. In the UK, the local government uses the urban planning scheme such as the planning permit system, section 106. The local government permits the quarry site development on the condition that it provides necessary public facilities, such as schools and affordable housing for the local community. In Australia, local governments use up-zoning permission rights to convert land uses in quarries from industrial to mixed-use. Development plans have to include urban infrastructure and open space in addition to affordable housings. In the case of Australia, establishing a development plan in advance and filling the quarry pit with overburden through a phased development is expected to have the effect of reducing the project cost. Both countries think that developing brownfields, such as quarry sites, is a more sustainable and eco-friendly development from the perspective of future generations than developing new green fields. Such a perspective of the UK and Australia will be able to give policy implications for our slightly rigid urban development system.

  • In this paper we suggest an efficient evolutionary approach based on topological sort techniques for precedence constrained TSPs. The determination of optimal sequence has much to offer to downstream project management and opens up new opportunities for supply chains and logistics. Experimental results show that the suggested approach is a good alternative to locate optimal solution for complicated precedence constrained sequencing as in optimization method for instance.

  • The uncapacitated facility location problem considered here is to determine facility location sites, minimizing the total cost of establishing facilities and serving customer demand points which require primary and back-up services. To solve this problem effectively, we propose two things in this study. First, we propose an idea of Benders' decomposition approach as a solution method of the problem. Second, we implement the problem on GAMS. Using GAMS (general Algebraic Modeling System) can utilize an mixed-integer programming solver such as ZOOM/XMP and provide a completely general automated implementation with a proposed solution method.

  • This paper deals with an exit strip gauge controller design for a cold rolling mill process with one input and two outputs. In order to attenuate the exit strip gauge variation caused by the Back-up roll eccentricity and the entry guage variation, an H$_{\infty}$ controller design methodology is used to keep the frequency weighted mixed sensitivity function small. Effectiveness of the proposed controller is demonstrated by a computer simulation..

  • The aim of the work described in this paper is to develope a pavement method for farm road. To this ends, a series of material test are conducted on in-situ soil which was mixed additives-coarse aggregate, polypropylene fiber, excellent soil compound etc. With the laboratory test results, in-situ pavement test was conducted during two years. The serious problem of the pavement is not appeared up to this time. And the measurement of field data is continued presently. The majority merits of this pavement method is low cost and using environmental materials.
