  • Cleavage fracture behaviors were investigated in Ni-Mo-Cr steels with mixed microstructure of lower bainite and martensite. As the size of carbide decreased, the cleavage fracture strength increased, which was independent of the sizes of grain and packet. The measured cleavage fracture strengths were in good agreement with cleavage fracture strengths calculated by Petch model rather than by modified Griffith model in micro-structures with fine carbides, the size of which were small below a few hundred nanometer.

  • We have developed a Differential Absortion LIDAR (DIAL) method for the measurement of lower tropospheric ozone concentration. We used two laser beams from quadrupled Nd:YAG (266 nm) for the resonance wavelength and dye lasers (299.5 nm) for non -resonance wavelength. Aerosol extinction coefficients in the lower troposphere was computed by both Klett and Slope methods. To correct the SIN (Signal -Induced Noise) effect caused by photo detector, we subtracted a new-fitted baseline on the background part of a LIDAR signal, after the subtraction of the DC level. This is because SIN can be treated as an exponentially decaying tail. Using theme results, ozone profiles were obtained approximately 2km at daytime and 3km at nighttime. We compared the results derided by the Slope method with those measured by UV spectrometer. The computed results are in mostly good agreement with experimental results. In the measurement of the vertical layer, we observed the variation of the ozone profiles around the top mixed layer.

  • To deal with electronic circuits analysis, the matrix-topological formulation is described. In addition to the classical mesh, node and outset method, a mixed analysis is described, and it is presented that any electronic circuits problem, including dc, ac, transient anatysis, can be analysed by the electronic circuit analysis program. In this paper a model of two stage transistor audio amplifier is made and frequency characteristics for the cicuits are analysed by ECAP. The measured results give good agreement with the ECAP analysis.

  • In this article, the Strain Energy Density (SED) averaged over a well-defined control volume at a notch edge was applied in combination with the Equivalent Material Concept (EMC) to assess the fracture behaviors of some keyhole-notched specimens made of a High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE-PE80) material under mixed-mode loading conditions. An experimental program was performed and 54 new experimental data were totally provided. Additionally, different loading mode ratios were regarded by changing the inclination angles of the notches with respect to the applied load directions. The results obtained from the determined criteria were in good agreement with those of the experimental data.

  • Condensing heat transfer characteristics of hydrocarbon refrigerants are experimentally investigated. Single component hydrocarbon refrigerants (propane, isobutane, butane and propylene) and binary mixtures of propane/isobutane and propane/butane are considered as test fluids. Local condensing heat transfer coefficients of selected refrigerants are obtained from overall conductance measurement. Average heat transfer coefficients at different mass fluxes and heat transfer rates are shown and compared with those of R22. Pure hydrocarbon refrigerants have higher values of heat transfer coefficient than R22. It is also found that there is a heat transfer degradation for hydrocarbon mixtures due to composition variation during condensation. Measured condensing heat transfer coefficients are compared with predicted values by available correlations. An empirical correlation for pure and mixed hydrocarbon is developed, and it shows good agreement with experimental data.

  • An alternative technique (or the numerical solution of Fredholm integral equations of second kind is presented. The approximate solution is obtained by fitting the data in mixed form at knots in the region of the problem. To decrease the error in the numerical solution, cubic B-spline functions which are twice continuously differentiable at knots are employed as basis function. For a given example, the results of this technique are compared with those of Moment method employing pulse functions for basis function and delta functions for test function and found to br in good agreement.

  • Molecular dynamic (MD) simulations with new interatomic potential function including the covalent bond were performed on the phase transition of $\alpha$-quartz-type GeO2 under high pressure. The optimized crystal structure and the pressure dependence of the lattice constant showed higher reproducibility than the previous models and were in very good agreement with the experimental data. A phase transition of $\alpha$-quartz and $\alpha$-quartz-type GeO2 by simulation was found approximately 24 GPa and 6-7 GPa, respectively. This phase transition involved an abrupt volume shrinkage and showed 4-6 coordination mixed structure with the increasing in the coordination number of cation.

  • A density functional theory method with the local basis set was employed to perform slab calculations to study thiolate-induced surface reconstruction structures of butylthiolates (ButS) with c($4{\times}2$) superlattice of the Au(111) surface. The slab calculations indicate that the most stable adsorption structure is the ButS-Au (adatom)-SBut complex form, which is in good agreement with the reported experiments and theoretical results for thiolates with shorter alkyl chains. The cis form of ButS-Au (adatom)-SBut motifs is preferred by 0.11 eV with respect to the trans form, and by 0.15 eV over the mixed cis-trans configurations due to the steric hindrance between adjacent butyl groups. It appears that the motif of Au adatom on the Au(111) surface is favored even for butylthiolate.

  • The performance of a three dimensional non-linear finite element model for hyperelastic material considering the effect of compressibility is studied by analyzing rubber blocks under different modes of deformation. It includes simple tension, pure shear, simple shear, pure bending and a mixed mode combining compression, shear and bending. The compressibility of the hyperelastic material is represented in the strain energy function. The nonlinear formulation is based on updated Lagrangian (UL) technique. The displacement model is implemented with a twenty node brick element having u, ${\nu}$ and w as the degrees of freedom at each node. The results obtained by the present numerical model are compared with the analytical solutions available for the basic modes of deformation where the agreement between the results is found to be satisfactory. In this context some new results are generated for future references since the number of available results on the present problem is not sufficient enough.

  • In this paper, the designed and fabrication of a K-band push-push oscillator using miniaturized hairpin resonator have been presented. One experimenal oscillator has been designed and fabricated for K-band point-to-point operation. the miniaturized harpin resonator has been analyzed theoretically and simulated by MPIE(Mixed Potential Integral Equation) method. With this results, the analysis of hairpin resonator which coupled microstrip line has been carried out with transmission-mode using this results. an optimized output matching network for the suppression of the fundamental and the 3rd order harmonic was acquired by using a nonlinear analysis method. The fabricated oscillator shows the output power of -2.28dBm, the fundamental frequency suppression of -19dBc, the 3rd order harmonic suppressionof -24dBc and 0.33 percent effiiency at 22.8GHz. The experimental outputs are in good agreement with the theoretical and simulated results.
