  • As construction industry is requiring competitive power and technique in national construction market with rapid fluctuation of construction environment and development, requirements upgrading performance in construction materials are increasing. But, national lightweight aggregate and lightweight concrete's inappropriateness when produced are also increasing. And there are not international standard of aggregates in using these construction materials because standards and characteristics of aggregate in each countries are different. Therefore, in this study, lightweight aggregate acquired due to wide range of use is tested and mixed for concrete to gain practicality and set the authorized manual in international. Also, basic data will be proposed to set a standard for concrete by analyzing lightweight aggregate characteristics. When lightweight aggregate absorptivity is high, concrete shows low strength and when it's density is low, concrete shows low weight of unit volume. Furthermore, compressive strength of lightweight aggregate is steep in first and longtime material age is tendency to cause low strength increasing rate.

  • Mine is quickly decline, Nowadays, many of abandoned and closed mines. AMD is abandoned surface water by accumulated yellowboy and caused environmental pollution by amount of heavy metals. The aim of this study waste lime was mixed with the sediment to produce an aggregate far the purpose of neutralizing the acidity and stabilization the heavy metal in the aggregate structure .to pozzolan effect. The result of Waste lime and sediment mixed(5%, 10%, 20%)ration by curing days(3, 7, 38days), After 28 curing days as 5% mixed waste lime leaching solution concentration of all heavy metals is satisfied with regulation limit. Also, the result of fractionate heavy metals to stabilization as 28 curing days very decrease exchangeable and reducible type, and then increase carbonate type. With the above results, waste lime the most effective for the sediment treatment and useful for the recycling waste resource.

  • In this study, concrete durability was reviewed before CGS, a by-product generated from IGCC, was used as a fine aggregate for concrete. The characteristics of concrete and effect on carbonization according to the type of pre-mixed cement and the CGS substitution rate were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the depth of carbonation according to the pre-mixed cement types increased by up to 52%, and the carbonation resistance tended to be similar overall when CGS was used as a fine aggregate.

  • Recently, the reuse of coarse aggregate derived from demolished concrete was introduced into practice with two environmental aspects: protection of natural sources of aggregate and recycling of construction waste. However, recycled aggregate has been used for the very limited application such as subbase material for pavement and constructional filling material because it was considered as low quality constructional materials. In the present study, in order to examine the possibility that recycled aggregate can be used for concrete mixing, we conducted various experimental tests to identify mineralogical, chemical and mechanical properties of recycled aggregate and to determine the workability and mechanical properties of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC). The cement paste and mortar contained in recycled aggregate significantly affect the basic mechanical properties of aggregate and the workability and mechanical properties of RAC. However, RCA mixed with the proper replacement ratio of recycled aggregate shows the comparable compressive strength and freeze and thaw resistance to those of normal concrete. Therefore, it is considered that recycled aggregate can be widely used for concrete if the cement paste and mortar can be efficiently removed from recycled aggregate and/or if the effective replacement ratios of recycled aggregate are applied for mixing concrete.

  • Recycling of waste concrete will contribute not only to the solution of a growing waste disposal problem, also help to conserve natural resources of aggregate and to secure future supply of reasonably priced aggregates for building construction purpose within large urban areas. But there recycled aggregates are more porous and less resistant to mechanical actions. In comparison with natural aggrete concrete, recycled aggregate concrete shows reductions in strength and other engineering properties. And it may also be less durable due to increase in porosity and permeability. Economical ways of improving the quality of recycled aggregate concrete are: (1)by reducing the water-cement ratio; (2)by reducing the water content using a superplasticizer without affecting the workability; (3)addition of pozzolan, such as fly ash; and (4)blending of recycled aggregate with the natural aggretes.

  • A policy for recycling waste concrete has been extensively studied, but it is still lacking to recycle and reuse as a cementitious powder, and the property has big different depending on the aggregate rates. In this study, the amount of cement powder according to the internal properties of the aggregate were mixed. From as a result, Concrete Powder to play inside the aggregate composition of the cement composition CaO rigs that causes loss of power and strength reduction due to rising real water cement ratio will affect large.

  • Concrete is one of the principal materials for the structure and it is widely used all over the world, but it shows extremely brittle failure under bending and tensile load. Recently to improve such a poor property, Ductile Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composites (DFRCC) have been developed, and it are defined by an ultimate strength higher than their first cracking strength and the formation of multiple cracking during the inelastic deformation process. This paper is to estimate experimentally the mechanical properties of ductile concrete with the kinds of used fine and coarse aggregate for purpose of development of high ductile concrete mixing coarse aggregate. As the results, ductile concrete mixed coarse aggregate showed the displacement-hardening behavior under bending load similar to DFRCC, and its compressive and bending performance varied according to the kinds of used coarse aggregate.

  • Recently, Korea government prepared Act on facilitation of construction waste recycling in December 2003 for effective recycling of rapidly increasing construction wastes, and has enforced the Act on Jan. 2005. This Act limits the definition of recycled aggregates to the aggregates which obtained quality certificate and for this purpose, government has operated quality standard and certificate system of recycling aggregate. The objective of this experimental study is to evaluate the mechanical properties of recycled coarse aggregate concrete according to curing method by ready-mixed concrete. Compressive strength ratio of recycled aggregate concrete under air-dry curing/wet curing was $74{\sim}91%$. KCI code for conventional concrete overestimated elastic modulus for recycled coarse aggregate concrete.

  • The purpose of this study is to enhance the development of construction waste-recycling technologies and its economical efficiency by developing environment-friendly tetrapod, precast concrete, where recycled aggregate is used in order to promote recycling of waste concrete. The results of concrete mechanic characteristics experiments by the circulation coarse aggregate-replacement ratio are as the following. The circulation aggregate is lower and higher than natural aggregate in specific gravity and absorption ratio, respectively so that in case of mix proportioning, unit volume increases, while unit aggregate amount decreases. From the result, sufficient experiments of physical characteristics of circulation aggregate are required to get proper mix proportioning. When circulation aggregate-replacement ratio increases, compressive strength tends to decrease comprehensively, but 50% of replacement ratio is good enough to use. When circulation coarse aggregate's replacement ratio is 0%, drying shrinkage, which causes cracks in concrete and deteriorates durability, shows the minimum length change and the higher the ratio, the larger the length change. Thus. when using circulation coarse aggregate, drying shrinkage should be fairly examined. In freezing-and-thawing resistance, weight loss tends to comprehensively increase its loss at the circulation aggregate-mixed site. And the examination of surface aggregate-omission ratio is further needed and dynamic elastic modulus and durability factor(DF) require more study as well. In order to use circulation aggregate to tetrapod, a clear standard for strength should be first prepared and at the same time, more study about durability is needed.
