  • A practical implementation method of squeeze-film aeroelastic disk vibration damping and its practical design performance are presented to provide a solution method to meet the tight TMR(Track Mis-Registration) design budget of high-TPI HDDs. Most previous research results are mainly based on the component-level study in the 'open-cover state' which is far from the realistic operation HDD condition. In this study, the squeeze-film disk damping effect is widely investigated under the realistic drive-level condition of 'enclosed-cover state.' It is found that the proper aeroelastic gap(s) between disk(s) and adjacent surface(s) to give significant vibration reduction in the enclosed HDD operating conditions can be achieved not only by classical well-known squeeze-film damping gaps such as very small 0.0x-millimeter level gaps which are not practically implementable in mass-production HDDs, but also by a few 0.x millimeter which is possible for designing realistic HDD design. The various experimental results including drive-level PES are also presented to prove feasibility of the optimal disk damper design for 93kTPI HDDs.

경영정보 관련 학과의 교육과정 설계와 운영 방안: K대학 e-비즈니스학과 사례를 중심으로 (A Study on Design and Operation of MIS Oriented Curriculum)

  • Purpose To meet changing social demands and fulfill the needs of the information and communications technology industry, the curriculum of MIS related department should develop and implement new conceptual frameworks. In response, the purpose of this study was to develop curriculum for students in the Department of e-Business at Kyungnam University. Design/methodology/approach We conducted a demands analysis of educational demanders, NCS(National Competency Standards) based curricular analysis, and benchmarking from other management information systems related departments. The expert panel committee consisting of e-Business department faculty members was held to examine and discuss the student-oriented curriculum developed during this study. Findings Results show that the contents and types of curriculum should be organized so that students can maximize their professional job competency to apply to their core professional tasks. Given these findings, we reconstructed the curriculum with both basic and advanced courses, all systematically organized according to the job requirements they offer toward meeting the industry's needs. We also implemented the web-based JSSS(Job Searching Support System) with which educational demanders can search among 13 job types, estimate their performances, and obtain the information about course registration. In all this study presents specific, practical evidence of the job-related curriculum for students in the Department of e-Business at Kyungnam University.

IS 분야 연계전공의 교육만족도 : 사례연구요 (Students' Satisfaction of IS Interdisciplinary Majors : A Case Study)

  • As technology rapidly develops, the demand for manpower by new industries is increasing. In order to respond to the changing demands of the workforce, universities are actively introducing interdisciplinary majors, which is a program formed by two or more departments cooperating to develop new majors. Although the importance of the interdisciplinary major is increasing, universities have difficulties managing them due to non-flexible educational systems. The purpose of this study is to present an effective management direction for interdisciplinary majors based on the results of a survey on student satisfaction with interdisciplinary majors. Also, we analyzed the required level and possessed level of the IS practitioners' competencies, and developed specific educational directions for training IS talents. The results showed that there was a significant difference in satisfaction with the curriculum development and curriculum evaluation of existing subjects provided by existing departments and new subjects established of interdisciplinary majors, specifically the satisfaction of new subjects is higher than existing subjects. In the IS field, there was a high demand for education in the following areas, in order: information security, information technology strategy planning, information technology operation, information technology development, information technology management, information technology sales, and core competencies. Based on the results of the analysis, the satisfaction of students and the cultivation of the talents that the interdisciplinary major aims to develop can be improved.

  • 최근 들어, 컴퓨터와 전자장비의 기술 발전에 힘입어 대부분의 유조선에서도 자동 적ㆍ양하 시스템 장비들이 도입되고 있다. 그러나 과도한 자동화에 따른 기기 조작이 복잡해짐에 따라 사감의 조작 실수에 따른 사고의 가능성이 논아지고 있는 것이 사실이다. 즉, 비록 적ㆍ양하 작업이 전문가들에 조작되지만 전체 작업 과정에서의 인적 오류 가능성을 배제할 수 없으며, 현재 도입되어 있는 시스템들은 오조작에 대한 방지 및 시스템의 이상 상황을 진단하여 대안을 제시할 수 있는 기능을 보유하고 있지 않다. 유류와 관련된 사고는 엄청난 피해를 초래하기 때문에 본 시스템의 개발 목적은 완전 자동화 시스템을 지양하고, 안전을 고려한 시스템 개발을 추구하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 지식기반 모니터링 시스템 개발을 위한 적ㆍ양하 작업 분석과 시스템 작동 가이드 및 시스템의 이상 상환과 작업자의 오조작을 모니터링하여 이에 신속히 대응할 수 있는 시스템 설계에 대해 언급하였다.

  • Current transformers(CTs) whose rating is selected per a full load current of a feeder in high voltage system can be easily saturated due to high fault current that may be several hundred times of the full load current of the feeder. However, the protective relay shall operate properly at the fault without mis-operation under the CT saturation. So, in selecting the CT rating, it is necessary to consider the behaviour of CT and a performance of protection scheme in condition where CT can be saturated. In this paper, a performance of CT and a degree of saturation are studied and verified whether its ratings are proper for the operation of the protective relay.

Multi-Dimensional Analysis on Korean IS Practitioners' Job Activities and Competency Requirements

  • Research results show (1) there are two dimensions characterizing Korean IS practitioners : 'project -operation' and 'product-orientation-strategic-orientation', (2) there are two distinctive and main career paths of Korean IS practitioners : generalists who support using information systems in the context of operation and specialists who are engaged in software development or improvement projects, and (3) Korean IS practitioners are experiencing serious and pervasive knowledge and skill deficiencies. Research results also provide clear evidence that Korean universities fail to provide eligible entry-level software developers and that the shortage of eligible entry-level software developers distorts both IS specialists' careers and knowledge and skill requirements for them.

That is, electromagnetic interference with communication lines, operational trouble in signaling, overheat and/or vibration in power capacitor, mis-operation in protection relay and so on. Therefore, the exact assessment of the harmonic current flow must be undertaken at design and planning stage for the electric traction systems. For these reasons, this study propose a new approach to model and to analyse traction power feeding system focused on system response to current and voltage harmonic(PART I ). Measurements of harmonics are also performed for railway power supply systems under normal operation. Spectrum and distortion analyses in measurement data are variously described in PART II

교통량 분석을 통한 항만 VTS 관제사의 업무량 평가 (A Study on Evaluation of Harbor VTS Operators' Workload by the Analysis of Marine Traffic)

  • 전세계적으로 물동량이 증가하고 동시에 지난 10여년간 VTS는 급격한 성장을 하여 왔다. 그러나 VTS가 생겨난 이후 15년간 VTS 관제사의 업무량에 대한 관심과 연구는 미흡하였다. VTS 관제사의 업무량을 측정하기 위해 우선, Port-MIS 자료와 De-briefing자료를 이용하여 7일간 입출항 척수를 시간-톤수별로 구별하여 조사한다. 그러나, 한 척의 선박이 입항하더라도 관제사가 느끼는 부담의 정도가 달라지므로 선종, 크기, $L^2$ 환산치등을 조사한다. 여기에 설문조사를 통하여 구해진 관제 비관제 척수를 1과 0.3의 가중치를 주어 환산관제척수를 구한다. VTS 업무량에 영향을 주는 요소인 관제구역 크기, 사고발생 빈도, 거대선, 위험선을 조사 분석하여 관계식을 정립하고, 이 연구의 결론인 복합환산 관제척수(실제로 관제사에게 부담이 되는 업무량 교통량)를 산출한다.
