Modality and implication of chinese minority group's cultural change: focused on hui-zu's culture and yi-zu's culture (중국(中國) 소수민족(少數民族) 문화접변(文化接變) 양상(樣相)의 변화(變化): 회족(回族)과 이족(彝族)의 문화(文化)를 중심으로)

  • This study focused on concretely how minority group's attitude accepting han-zu's culture changes. In the past, minority group's culture and han-zu's culture were acculturated spontaneously, not forcibly. But as the people's republic of china was founded and control of chinese government was intensified, control and interference of minority group area became aggressive, and acculturation became compulsory. However, after chinese economic reform, by economic affluence and modernization and urbanization according to economic affluence, acculturation of minority group's culture and han-zu's culture is changing from forced acculturation to spontaneous acculturation. Still there are some areas where mutual friction lasts because of forced acculturation. But except some areas the stream is changing rapidly to spontaneous acculturation. In the text, this study investigated process and present state of acculturation focused on hui-zu that implemented aggressive acceptance of han-zu's culture relatively early. Then this study investigated yi-zu society and cultural change focused on their spontaneous acculturation. In the modern society setting a high value on convenience and personal happiness rather than ideology and value, value of race becomes less attractive to young people of minority group who know modern civilization and convenience of city. In this respect, maybe hui-zu society is future of yi-zu society and minority group society.

A Study on Women's Headgear of Muslim Ethnic Minority in Xinjiang Uygur (신장자치구 무슬림계 소수민족 여성쓰개에 관한 고찰)

  • Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is the area with the most Muslim populations in China and the costume of this ethnic minority group was influenced from its surrounding environment and religion. Headgear is one of the important costume elements of Muslim ethnic minority such as Kazakh, Kirghiz, Uzbek, and Tadzhik people, and each group has developed narious forms of it. Especially, we can notice characteristics of headgear in Xinjiang Uygur and four ethnic minority groups through women's headgear pursuant to motive of wear, classification of type, differences and comparability with other areas. Thus, purpose of this study is to investigate women's headgear of Muslim ethnic minority in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Based on local data at the Xinjiang Uygur Museum, the study referred to Chinese ethnic minority costume and literature data as well as advanced researches related to Islam, and analyzed characteristics of women's headgear of four ethnic groups in connection with Muslim formation background in Xinjiang Uygur. Women's headgear of Muslim ethnic minority in Xinjiang Uygur can be largely divided into three types; cylindrical, conical and hood type. Headgear was influenced not only by natural environment and weather for protection of body, but also by Islam. Along with strong desire for decoration and expression of racial features, it was used as a means of race discrimination and representation of identity. The religion of Islam within these four ethnic groups grew in accordance with tradition of existing nomadic tribes and regional characteristics, and women's headgear developed in various ways added with religious precepts and nomadic features. Taking everything into consideration, it is found that women's headgear of Kazakh, Kirghiz, Uzbek, and Tadzhik people developed, adopting their own living style and features of minority races instead of remaining identical to the headgear type of Muslim countries in other area.

  • This study intends for providing a methodological foundation for information behavior research. To the end, we classify the 'Minority Groups' into two separate groups, ethnic minority and socio-economic minority. Then we reviewed the relevant literature with emphasis on analyzing the methodological characteristics. In details, our focus was on identifying the queries and variables of the collected major articles, and on introducing the methods used for data collection and interpretation in those articles.

A Study on the Formation Factors and Characters of Yi Women's Headdress in China (중국 이족(彝族) 여성 두식(頭飾)의 형성요인과 특징에 관한 연구)

  • The headdress is one of the most important clothing characters in China, as it was used to distinguish the 55 minority groups in China. Each minority group has a unique headdress culture. Among the 55 minority groups, the Zang, the Yi, and the Miao focus their ethnic costumes on the headdress, and have a more distinctive headdress culture compared to be other nationality groups. The Yi is one of the minority groups that linvd in Southwest China. They usually lived in compact communities in Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou provinces, as well as the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region. The total population of the Yi is the sixth largest among the 55 minority groups. Modern scholars believe that the Yi people are descendants of the ancient Qiang people, which is a group that lived in Northwest China six or seven thousand years before. It is believed that the Qiang went down to the southern part of China and allied with the aboriginals in that region, and this group of people became the Yi, Due to its long history, cultural background, and the large number of people and settlements, they have produced a unique costume culture. The women's headdress culture is considered to be the one of the most important characteristics of their costume culture. There are four forming element of the Yi women's headdress, religious faith, myths, geographical distribution and customs & festivals. The first three elements play an important role in the protection and spread of headdress, while the fourth element provides potential for the modern headdress development. Because of much influence factors, more than 100 types of Yi women headdresses have developed. Depends on categories, Yi woman headdress can be divided into kerchief, hat, fascinator and other accessories wore on the hand. This study investigated the development of the Yi women's headwear, and screened and analyzed representative Yi women accessories, such as the headscarf, hat, and fascinator. This analysis will provide basic materials for further studies of Yi women's headdress or costume.

Subjective Well-being and Attitude toward Minority Group Members: A longitudinal analysis (주관적 안녕감과 소수집단에 대한 태도: 종단 분석)

  • This research investigated the influence of subjective well-being on attitude towards minority group members. In a cross-sectional data, the higher subjective well-being predicted more positive cognitive beliefs, affective feelings, and behavioral intentions towards foreign laborers and children of international couples. The causal link from subjective well-being to greater tolerance for cultural diversity was found again in a large longitudinal sample. The rate of life satisfaction increase from Time 1 to Time 2 significantly predicted multicultural receptiveness at Time 2. Overall, the findings suggest that subjective well-being may contribute to the formation of favorable attitude towards minority group members.

열선 CVD를 이용한 a-Si:H의 c-Si표면 passivation 및 열처리 효과 분석

  • c-Si wafer에 HWCVD로 증착된 a-Si:H 박막은 초기에 낮은 passivation 특성을 가지나 열처리 공정을 통해 효과적인 passivation을 가진다. 열처리 공정은 온도와 시간에 따라 큰 차이를 보인다. 이에 열선CVD를 이용하여 n type의 c-Si 기판에 a-Si:H을 증착하여 열처리 온도에 따른 Minority carrier Lifetime를 QSSPC를 통해 passivation 특성을 측정하였다. 온도는 $150^{\circ}C{\sim}270^{\circ}C$로 변화하여 측정하였다. 또한 열처리 시간을 10분씩 증가시켜 열처리 시간에 따른 passivation을 연구, 1ms에 이르는 Minority carrier lifetime을 얻었다.

A Study on Social Distance of Nursing Students toward Minority Groups in a Metropolitan City (일 도시 간호대학생의 소수집단에 대한 사회적 거리감)

  • Purpose: To survey the social distance of nursing students toward minority groups (immigrants, foreign workers, Saeteomins, and foreign students) and compare them according to general and multicultural characteristics. Methods: The subjects were 409 students from two nursing schools at G metropolitan city. Data were collected with self-reported questionnaires from April 2012 to June 2012, and analyzed by descriptive statistics (t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Scheffe test) using the SPSS/WIN 17.0 program. Results: The mean scores of social distance were $1.90{\pm}0.57$ (out of 4 points) and scores significantly differed according to religion (t=3.095, p=.002), tourist experiences in foreign countries (t=-2.651, p=.008), and for Asian background of minority groups. There were also differences according to the number of foreign friends(F=4.924, p=.008) and duration of friendships(F=3.913, p=.021). Conclusion: The level of social distance of nursing students was lower than average but needs to be reduced. We suggest further studies on the social distance toward each minority group and the development of valid scales for social distance and its related variables.

Development of Probabilistic Thinking of the Minority Students with Low Achievement & Low SES (교육소외 학생들을 대상으로 확률 이해수준에 관한 연구)

  • Since research has barely been done on the minority with low-achievement & low-SES in probability, this research attempted to search the change of their thinking level in the classes of probability and motivate them on the mathematical learning to feel confident in mathematics. We can say that the problems of the educational discriminations are due to the overlook on the individual conditions, situations, and environments. Therefore, in order to resolve some discrimination, 4 students who belonged to the minority group, engaged in the research, based on 10 units of the instructional materials designed for the research. As a result, for the student's thinking level, it was observed that they were improved from the 1st to the 3rd level in probability. Also, the researcher found that the adequate use of the encouragement, the praise, the direct explanation, and the scaffolding enabled them to prompt their learning motives and the increased responsibility on the learning. As time passed, the participants could share their mathematical knowledge and its concept with others, in the increased confidence.

  • The Cultural Revolution(wenhuadageming) is one of the most important political movement in the modem China. The studies on the movement done in recent years concentrated on the political conspiracy or the struggle over political line, so they did not pay attention to the political geographical dimension of the movement. This paper proposes that the Cultural Revolution practised in the area of minority nationalities at least is well understood through the political geographical perspective. Through the discussion on the Cultural Revolution practised in the Inner Mongolia autonomous district and the Oroqen minority nationality autonomous banner, this paper suggest that the socialist Chinese leader group considers the frontier area(bianjiang) or the minority nationality regions(xiaoshuminzudiqu) important as 'region' or 'space' not as 'the area of minority nationalities (minzu)'. Especially, in the period of the movement, the leader group of the revolution manipulated the space by using the index of nationality or manipulated the nationality by using the index of space. Therefore this paper assert that the Cultural Revolution in the area of minority nationality autonomous region was a integration process of the people and national territory through the reorganization of the nationalities into classes and of autonomous region into region in general meaning.

Minority Students' Learning Patterns in Science Class (소외 계층 학생들의 과학 학습 유형)

  • As the number of minority students such as multicultural, North Korean defectors, and low-income groups increases, more research is needed in science education to help their learning. Due to the various growth backgrounds and learning environments of the underprivileged students, there is a big difference in the individual characteristics of the group rather than the whole group characteristics. In this study, we conducted about 50 hours of science lessons for seven students in the underprivileged class, categorized them by observing and interviewing the characteristics of their science learning. Seven underprivileged students showed five different learning patterns, these are 'I love science', 'I think I know science', 'I want to know science', 'I need to know science', and 'I don't know what I want'. Although the scientific activities they experienced were not all of an excellent educational quality, their interest in science learning has increased with their experience in science activities. It shows the need to provide more abundant science experience and educational opportunities for these minority students who can only experience science learning under the public educational system.
