관능검사법과 정신물리학적 방법론을 활용한 두께 감각 특성에 대한 고찰 (Characteristics of Thickness Sensation Observed through Sensory Evaluation and Psychophysical Method)

  • The purpose of this study was to figure out the various characteristics of the thickness sensation among elements of tactile sensation using psychophysical method. Firstly, panel screening was processed to select sensitive thickness panel using the triangle test. As a result of discriminating the paper thickness difference from 1 to 4 pieces, the female students perceived the thickness difference more sensitively than the male students (p<.05). Secondly, JND (Just Noticeable Difference) was obtained at percentage of stimulus detection rate in order to detect the degree of thickness difference by psychophysical method. It was found that the difference threshold of the entire group was about 0.125mm, with male group being about 0.178mm and female group being about 0.095mm. Thirdly, Weber's law was used to find the minimum discrimination difference between the stimuli. The experiments were conducted by increasing the paper's base thickness from 1.950mm to 1.330mm, and it was found that the difference tendency increased when the size of the basic stimulus increased. At this time, the minimum discrimination difference increased, but the Weber' fraction was not proportional to the magnitude of the stimulus. The significance of this study was that sensory evaluation was applied to research in the fields of clothing science and it seems effective to further screen and train sensitive students as material discrimination experts.

수평형 고압다이캐스팅용 샷슬리브의 강건설계 (Robust Design of Shot Sleeve Wall Thickness for a Horizontal Pressure Die Casting Machine)

  • As a shot sleeve in die casting plays a critical role in delivering molten metal to a die cavity, any disruption to its function in the injection stage results in deterioration of the quality of final castings. To guarantee a smooth operation of a shot sleeve, its structural stability should be maintained. Despite the simple geometry, design of shot sleeve is based on individual engineer's experience and no agreement on the design is present. In this study, we newly propose a systematic methodology to determine a minimum wall thickness of a shot sleeve to prevent yielding or plastic deformation. Analytical calculations incorporating numerical analysis produce a rational design rule for minimum thickness of a shot sleeve subject to metal intensification pressure and geometric die constraint. To validate the proposed design guideline, authors present real data on a collection of actual shot sleeves. Upon checking their conformity to the new design rule, we discovered a strong correlation between the design of wall thickness and premature failures.

S45C 강의 피로균열전파 지연거동의 영향인자에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Factors that Affect Fatigue Crack Growth Retardation Behavior in S45C Steel)

  • Constant ΔK fatigue crack growth tests were performed by applying an intermediate multiple overload for S45C steel. The purpose of the present study is to investigate effects of specimen thickness at various baseline stress intensity factor range levels (ΔK(sub)b), overload application position (a/W) and overload application frequency (OL(sub)HZ) on fatigue crack growth retardation behavior. The principal results are summarized as follows. The amount of retardation for a given ΔK(sub)b level is increased with increasing the baseline stress intensity factor range level for all specimen thickness. The normalized minimum crack growth rate is increased with increasing the specimen thickness, except for ΔK=45MPa√m. The retardation cycle is decreased with increasing a/W and increased with OL(sub)HZ.

그라비아 인쇄물의 망점 형성을 위한 포토레지스터 코팅층의 레이저 직접 페터닝 (Laser Direct Patterning of Photoresist Layer for Halftone Dots of Gravure Printing Roll)

  • Laser direct patterning of the coated photoresit (PMER-NSG31B) layer was studied to make halftone dots on gravure printing roll. The selective laser hardening of photoresist by Ar-ion laser(wavelength : 333.6nm∼363.8nm) was controlled by the A/O modulator. The coating thickness in the range of 5㎛∼11㎛ could be obtained by using the up-down directional moving device along the vertically located roll. The width, thickness and hardness of the hardened lines formed under laser power of 200∼260㎽ and irradiation time of 4.4∼6.6$\mu$ sec/point were investigated after developing. The hardened width increased according to the increase of coating thickness. Though the hardened thickness was changed due to the effect of the developing solution, the hardened layer showed good resistance to the scratching of 2H pencil. Also, the hardened minimum line widths of 10㎛ could be obtained. The change of line width was also found after etching, and the minimum line widths of 6㎛ could be obtained. The hardened lines showed the good resistance to the etching solution. Finally, the experimental data could be applied to make gravure halftone dots using the developed imaging process, successfully.

  • 격벽 착화 모듈은 도우너 화약이 폭발하면서 발생한 충격파가 격벽을 통해 억셉터 화약에 전달되었을 때 동작한다. 격벽 착화 모듈의 가장 중요한 설계 요소인 격벽의 최소 두께를 결정하기 위하여 구조해석을 수행한 결과 격벽의 두께가 0.1 mm 이상인 경우 구조적으로 충분한 마진이 있음을 확인하였다. 격벽의 적정 두께를 결정하기 위하여 VISAR 간섭계를 이용하여 억셉터 화약 충전면에서 자유 표면 속도를 계측하였다. 이 속도를 이용하여 충격 압력으로 환산하고 그 결과를 억셉터 화약의 반응 민감도와 비교함으로서 격벽 두께에 따른 격벽 착화 모듈의 작동 신뢰도를 계산하였다.

Theoretical Sensitivity of Warp to Varying Layer Thickness in 5-layer Plywood

  • Monte Carlo simulation was performed on theoretical models of plywood warp for southern yellow pine plywood originating from the United States. The objective of the investigation was to determine which plywood layers was more warp sensitive to veneers that were manufactured to an undesired thickness. This study found that for a balanced panel (a panel of equal target thickness for each of five layers) manufactured veneers of undesired thickness would experience minimal warp. The veneers of undesired thickness placed in the center of the plywood panel also provided a minimum change of plywood warp properties. The panel warp was very sensitive to surface veneers constructed with undesired thickness. Conversely, this study confirms that monitoring of veneer thickness and proper allocations within the plywood lay-up were critical.

전치부 후방이동에 따른 연조직 측모 변화의 두부방사선 계측학적 연구 (A CEPHALOMETRIC STUDY ON THE SOFT-TISSUE PROFILE CHANCES FOLLOWING THE INCISOR RETRACTION)

  • This study was carried out in order to find out the soft tissue profile changes associated with maxillary incisor retraction in Angle's class I malocclusion patients. For this study fifty two female adult patients (Maximum Retraction Group 23, Minimum Retraction Group 29) who received orthodontic treatment were chosen. Following conclusions were obtained by analysing the changes of soft tissue and hard tissue before and after treatment. 1. When considering the mean changes of soft tissue and hard tissue, UP, LIP, Ls, Li (p<0.001), Point B, Si (p<0.01), Point A, Ss (p<0.05) were significant posterior movement in Maximum Retraction Group and UIP (p<0.001), LIP, Ls, Li (p<0.01), Point B, Si (p<0.05) were significant posterior movement in Minimum Retraction Group. 2. When considering the correlations between hard tissue and soft tissue changes, greater correlations were found in Minimum Retraction Group between UIP and Ls (p<0.01), Point A and Ss, UIP and Li, Point B and Si (p<0.05) than Minimum Retraction Group. 3. Correlations (p<0.01) were found between upper incisor retraction and posterior movement of the upper and lower lip in Thin Lip-Thickness Group, whereas no significant correlations were found in Thick Lip-Thickness Group. 4. Mean changes of the soft tissue thickness subsequent to incisor retraction were increased (p<0.01) in upper lip (Ls-Ls'), whereas no changes were found in lower lip.
