  • In MRI, gradient coils are needed for spatial selection and position coding to obtain the position information of the NMR signal. In this paper, a new design scheme for actively-shielded x, y-gradient coils, namely, a minimum-power and/or minimum-inductance design scheme using current-loop elements, has been proposed. Its utility in designing MRI gradient coils has been shown by using simulation. An actively-shielded x-gradient coil has been designed as an example and the results are presented. The design scheme seems to be useful for actively-shielded transverse gradient coils, even of non-cylindrical or of arbitrarily -selected shapes.

  • A time of minimum light for VV Orionis has been determined photographically using techniques developed by Jeong. The observed time of minimum light shows that VV Ori exhibits a constant orbital period. The O-C computed with the light elements given by Eaton is found to be $-0^d$, 0070. An attempt to correct for night-to-night shifts for plates taken on three nights in February and March 1975, was unsuccessful and thus the complete light curve initially planned was not obtained.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identify minimum data sets for oral mucous integrity-related documentation and to analyze nursing records for oral care. Methods: To identify minimum data sets for oral status, the authors reviewed 26 assessment tools and a practical guideline for oral care. The content validity of the minimum data sets was assessed by three nurse specialists. To map the minimum data sets to nursing records, the authors examined 107 nursing records derived from 44 patients who received chemotherapy or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in one tertiary hospital. Results: The minimum data sets were 10 elements such as location, mucositis grade, pain, hygiene, dysphagia, exudate, inflammation, difficulty speaking, and moisture. Inflammation contained two value sets: type and color. Mucositis grade, pain, dysphagia and inflammation were recorded well, accounting for a complete mapping rate of 100%. Hygiene (100%) was incompletely mapped, and there were no records for exudate (83.2%), difficulty speaking (99.1%), or moisture (88.8%). Conclusion: This study found that nursing records on oral mucous integrity were not sufficient and could be improved by adopting minimum data sets as identified in this study.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is developing the nursing information system which contains the core elements of nursing practice, the Nursing Minimum Data Set (NMDS) that should be collected and documented all the settings in which nursing care is provided. Method: The program was developed under the hospital information system by TCP/IP protocol and used NANDA, Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC), and Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC) to fill out the elements of NMDS. The Oracle was used as DBMS under the Windows 98 environment and Power Builder 5.0 was used as a program language. Results: This study developed linkage among the NANDA-NOC-NIC to facilitate choosing correct nursing diagnosis, interventions, and outcomes and stimulate nurses' critical thinking. Also the system developed includes nursing care sensitive patient outcomes, so nurses can actively involve in nursing effectiveness research by analyzing the data stored in the database or by making relational databases with other health care related databases. Conclusion: The program developed in this study ultimately can be used for the nursing research, policy development, reimbursement of nursing care, and calculating staffing and nursing skill mix by providing tool to describe and organize nursing practice and measure the nursing care effectiveness.

  • Design criteria far a block code which guarantees minimized PAPR of the OFDM signals are proposed in this paper. Encoding procedure of the minimum PAPR codes (MPC) is composed of searching a seed codeword, circular shifting the register elements, and determining codeword inversion. It is shown that the PEP is invariant to the circular shift of register elements and codeword inversion. Based on such properties, systematic encoding rule for MPC is proposed. In addition proposed encoding rule can reduced greatly the size of look up table for MPC.

  • Using the concept of cellular manufacturing systems(CMS) in job shop manufacturing system is one of the most innovative approaches to improving plant productivity. However. several constraints in machine duplication cost, machining capability, cell space capacity, intercell moves and exceptional elements(EEs) are main problems that prevent achieving the goal of maintaining an ideal CMS environment. Minimizing intercell part traffics and EEs are the main objective of the cell formation problem because it is a critical point that improving production efficiency. Because the intercell moves could be changed according to the sequence of operation, it should be considered in assigning parts and machines to machine ceil. This paper presents a method that eliminates EEs under the constraints of machine duplication cost and ceil space capacity attaining two goals of minimizing machine duplications and minimizing intercell moves simultaneously. Developing an algorithm that calculates the machine duplications by cell-machine incidence matrix and part-machine Incidence matrix, and calculates the exact intercell moves considering the sequence of operation. Based on the number of machine duplications and exact intercell moves, the goal programming model which satisfying minimum machine duplications and minimum intercell moves is developed. A linear programming model is suggested that could calculates more effectively without damaging optimal solution. A numerical example is provided to illustrate these methods.

  • As it is known, uranium enrichment is carried out on industrial scale by means of multistage separation facilities, i.e., separation cascades in which gas centrifuges (GCs) are connected in series and parallel. Design and construction of these facilities require significant investment. So, the problem of calculation and optimization of cascade working parameters is still relevant today. At the same time, in many cases, the minimum unit cost of a product is related to the cascade having the smallest possible number of separation elements/GCs. Also, in theoretical studies, it is often acceptable to apply as an efficiency criterion the minimum total flow to supply cascade stages instead of the abovementioned minimum unit cost or the number of separation elements. In this article, cascades with working parameter of a single GC changing from stage to stage are optimized by two of the abovementioned performance criteria and are compared. The results obtained allow us to make a conclusion about their differences.

  • In this paper, a novel Zero-Current-Transition (ZCT) technique, which provides Zero-Current-Switching (ZCS) turn-off of the main switch, the main diode and the auxiliary switch, is presented. The proposed auxiliary circuit consists of minimum elements only one auxiliary switch, resonant inductor and resonant capacitor. Also the reduced di/dt, which is obtained by resonant inductor, helps soft turn-on of the main switch. Besides, to eliminate the additional conduction loss and current stress on main switch, a topological variation was performed. The theoretical analysis and the operation principle of the new ZCT techniques are described in detail with a boost converter as an example. To verify the validity of the proposed ZCT techniques, the simulation and the experiment were performed under 1kW output power and 100kHz switching frequency.

  • PURPOSES : This study is to develop Right-Turning Channelization Design Models of Semitrailer at Intersections by regression of vehicle tracking simulation. METHODS : Based on the literature review, it was indicated that right-turning channelization design guide of semitrailer is too complex and is not reflected turning speed and approach angle. To verify effectiveness of right turning semitrailer trajectories according to the changing turning speed and approach angle, vehicle tracking simulation was executed. And then, simulation results were analyzed for modeling design elements; minimum turning radius, swept path width, arc length, width of triangle island, of right-turning channelization using regression methods. RESULTS : When the turning speed is getting higher, minimum turning radius, arc length, width of triangle island increased and the approach angle lower, swept path width, arc length, width of triangle island reduced. The turning radius completely reflected by turning speed. CONCLUSIONS : In this research, it was investigated how much design elements are changed according to the turning speed and the approach angle of semitrailer. The developed right-turning channelization design models can help engineers to easy and comfortable design at various conditions.
