A Study on Defense Robot Combat Concepts Using Fourth Industrial Revolution Technologies

  • The ultimate purpose of this study is as follows: The current primary concern in the defense sector revolves around how to strategically utilize Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in combat. The Fourth Industrial Revolution denotes a shift towards an environment where automation and connectivity are maximized, driven by technologies such as artificial intelligence. Coined by Klaus Schwab in the 2015 Davos Forum, this term highlights the significant role of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Particularly, the military application of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies is expected to be actively researched and implemented. Combat involves military actions between units, typically conducted as part of a larger war, with units striving to achieve one or more objectives. The concept of combat refers to the fundamental ideas of how units should engage with the enemy, both presently and in future scenarios, to achieve assigned objectives.

  • Enemy information has significant value when it comes to the process of military actions in battle field. Our Army now uses Battlefield Management Systems(BMSs) equipped in Ground Fighting Vehicles(GFVs) and we need to make research on what kind of role enemy information can play in such systems. Also, enemy information can be shared among GFVs and target information shall be extracted from it in view of KVMF scheme. Because KVMF becomes requisite standard in modern BMSs, we need to implement target information handling process in KVMF standard. In this article, we will focus on how target information and its sharing process can be managed efficiently without information conflicts. Also, situation map produced by it will be noted.

  • Modern Battle Fields are covered with various weapon systems, such as tanks, infantry vehicles, or artillery vehilces. In such environment, it is important to take it into consideration what kind of efficient method should be developed to communicate with heterogeneous friend combat systems for the exchange of tactical information aqcuired because military operations require coordinated actions. For this purpose, we made a research on tactical information equipments such as Battlefield Management Systems(BMSs) equipped in multiple kinds of Mobile Combat Vehicles(MCVs). The exchange of tactical information could be divieded into separate domains, such as connectivity, messages, and recognition processes by operators. In this article, we will deal with wireless radio connectivity, KVMF messages, and User Interfaces showing shared data.

  • The study considers trends and prospects for developing virtual (augmented) reality and civil transactions in relation to digital property. In jurisprudence, there is a need to determine the legal status of virtual and augmented reality to regulate legal relations in the digital environment. Legal relations using new digital technologies require the creation of new legislative approaches and rules of their legal regulation. The article dwells on the legal status of virtual (augmented) reality and determines the methods of regulating legal relations in the sphere of digital property. The study utilized methods for collecting single and multiple facts in order to identify the main trends in the civil circulation of digital assets, as well as private law methods. The methods of generalization, concreteness, induction and deduction reveal the legal nature and main features of virtual (augmented) reality and digital property. The paper highlights the specifics of virtual reality and civil transactions in relation to digital assets. The research has concluded that the sale, exchange and other actions with digital objects in virtual reality have distinctive features, while digital property has also unique characteristics since it is involved in civil circulation and legal relations.

  • FRACAS(Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System) is intended to provide management visibility and control for reliability and maintainability improvement of hardware and associated software by timely and disciplined utilization of failure and maintenance data to generate and implement effective corrective actions to prevent failure recurrence and to simplify or reduce the maintenance tasks. This process applies to acquisition for the design, development, fabrication, test, and operation or military systems, equipment, and associated computer programs. This paper shows the FRACAS development process and developed FRACAS system for a defense equipment.

해상운송안보를 위한 선원 확보에 관한 연구 (Study on the Recruitment of Seafarers to Improve Military Sealift Capability in Korea)

  • 한국의 해군은 점증하는 대양해군의 역량강화에 따라 충분한 항해능력의 확보와 우수한 병력을 확보하는 것이 요청되고 있다. 그러나 병력자원의 확보측면에서는 최근 전체적인 인구감소 추세에 따라 병력의 효율적인 활용이 요구되고 있다. 이 연구에서는 가용자원의 확보를 위해 국방민간인력으로서 선원을 활용검토하고 미국의 해상운송사령부를 벤치마킹하였다. 검토결과 해상운송사령부를 설립하여 작전지원함정을 운영할 경우 해군의 전투능력이 확장이 가능하다. 게다가 기존에 구축된 해양대학 등 국가 교육시스템과 민간의 해기자원을 활용하는 것이 가능하다. 또한 승선근무예비역 제도와 지정국제선박을 보다 효율적으로 운영할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 본 연구는 군 적응에 영향을 미치는 것으로 연구된 자기존중감, 통제소재, 사회적 지지, 스트레스 대처 방식의 요인들의 관련성을 살펴보고 구조 모형을 검증함으로써 군 적응에 대한 이해를 증진하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 대상은 강원도 소재 육군 소속 이병에서 병장까지의 현역 병사 447명이었다. 본 연구에서 사용된 측정도구는 다음과 같다. 자기 보고식 질문지를 통해서 자기존중감, 통제소재, 사회적 지지, 스트레스 대처 방식, 군 적응이 측정되었다. 신뢰도 검사를 통해 각 척도의 신뢰도를 측정하였고, 변인 간의 상관관계분석을 시행하였으며 연구모형 검증을 위해 구조방정식 모형 검증을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 다음 두 가지로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 자기존중감, 내적 통제와 같은 내적 특성이 각각 사회적 지지와 적극적 대처에 정적 영향을 미치며, 적극적 대처, 사회적 지지가 군 적응에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 내적 통제, 자기존중감이 사회적 지지와 적극적 대처를 통해 군 적응에 영향을 미친다. 이는 사회적 지지와 적극적 대처 방식이 내적 특성과 군 적응 사이의 매개 변인의 역할을 함을 밝힌 것이다. 본 연구는 개인의 내적 특성과 적응 간의 연구들에 제한점을 주는 것으로 사회적 지지 체계의 확립이나 대처 행동 훈련과 같은 개입의 중요성을 강조한다.

  • 지식경제가 기반이 되는 21세기에 인터넷의 개방성, 글로벌성, 접근용이성이 기술, 산업 그리고 문화의 새로운 융합과 발전을 구축하는 중심 축이 되고 있다. 그러나, 사이버공간에서 발생되고 있는 정보화의 역기능(인터넷을 이용한 각종범죄, 정보시스템 불법침입 및 파괴, 불건전정보의 유통, 개인의 프라이버시 침해, 개인정보의 오남용 등)들은 갈수록 빈번하고 지능화되고 있어 심각한 사회적 혼란과 국가의 전략적, 행정적, 경제적으로 막대한 손실은 물론 군사활동마저 마비시키고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 글에서는 사이버공간에서의 범죄행위를 예방하고 차단시킬 수 있는 정보보호와 기술 그리고 그 패러다임을 조사 분석하여 기술하고 정보보호기술과 산업현황을 국내외적으로 알아본 다음 정보보호기술의 측면에서 바람직한 활성화 방안을 제시한다.

무기체계 정비성 향상을 위한 BIT 설계 및 검증 방안 (Improvements in Design and Evaluation of Built-In-Test System)

  • Built-In-Test is a design feature in more and more advanced weapon system. During development test and evaluation(DT&E) it is critical that the BIT system be evaluated. The BIT system is an integral part of the weapon system and subsystem. Built-In-Test assists in conducting on system and subsystem failure detection and isolation to the Line Replaceable Unit(LRU). This capability reduces the need for highly skilled personnel and special test equipment at organizational level, and reduces maintenance down-time of system by shortening Total Corrective Maintenance Time. During DT&E of weapon system the objective of BIT system evaluation is to determine BIT capabilities achieved and to identify deficiencies in the BIT system. As a result corrective actions are implemented while the system is still in development. Through the use of the reiterative BIT evaluation the BIT system design was corrected, improved, or updated, as the BIT system matured.

Advantage Actor-Critic 강화학습 기반 수중운동체의 롤 제어 (Roll control of Underwater Vehicle based Reinforcement Learning using Advantage Actor-Critic)

  • In order for the underwater vehicle to perform various tasks, it is important to control the depth, course, and roll of the underwater vehicle. To design such a controller, it is necessary to construct a dynamic model of the underwater vehicle and select the appropriate hydrodynamic coefficients. For the controller design, since the dynamic model is linearized assuming a limited operating range, the control performance in the steady state is well satisfied, but the control performance in the transient state may be unstable. In this paper, in order to overcome the problems of the existing controller design, we propose a A2C(Advantage Actor-Critic) based roll controller for underwater vehicle with stable learning performance in a continuous space among reinforcement learning methods that can be learned through rewards for actions. The performance of the proposed A2C based roll controller is verified through simulation and compared with PID and Dueling DDQN based roll controllers.
