  • Pulmonary vein wedge angiography was applied to two patients of 2 years old TOF with PFO. Left pulmonary artery was not visualized by standard right ventriculogram and catheter was not entered into main pulmonary artery. Through PFO and left atrium, pulmonary vein wedge angiography at left lower pulmonary vein was done. The ipsilateral pulmonary artery & its trees in both cases and the contralateral pulmonary artery in one case were well visualized. Dangerous complication, such as massive bronchoconstriction due to extravasation of contrast material into the bronchus, was not developed. Mild coughing was occurred, but well tolerable in both cases. We recommended a dose of 0.8 mL/Kg of contrast material at a rate of 2 to 3 mL/sec and 1 to 2 mL/Kg of flush solution at the same rate by the hand, and routine use of pulmonary vein wedge angiography in cyanotic patients whose pulmonary artery was not visualized by the standard angiography.

  • The measurement from the indentation process depends on the amount of pile-up or sink-in around the contact impressions. In this paper, finite element concept is utilized to study the pile-up and sink-in behaviour for the wide range of materials with different young's modulus, yield stresses, strain-hardening exponents and coefficient of friction values. The exact indentation model is created by using the two dimensional axisymmetrical model for simulating the spherical indentation process on the lines of Taljat and Pharr (2004) work. The result shows that during spherical indentation process the amount of pile-up is greatly influenced by the strain hardening exponents in addition to other material properties and depth of penetration. The numerical results from the finite element analysis are also validated using the exact multilinear material properties obtained from the tensile testing for the materials like mild steel, brass and aluminium.

  • A hydrated strontium iron fluoride, Sr2Fe2F10(H2O) has been synthesized and characterized. The material was synthesized through mild hydrothermal reaction using an aqueous CF3COOH solution. The material exhibits a one-dimensional structure consisting of chains of corner-shared Fe3+F6 octahedra, isolated Fe3+F5(H2O) octahedra, chains of SrF10 polyhedra and isolated SrF8 polyhedra, respectively. Magnetic property measurements on Sr2Fe2F10(H2O) reveals an antiferromagnetic order at TN of ~2.5 K with a Weiss temperature (θ) of -61.51 K.

  • In physicochemical property, increasing the raw materials of Samul Chol Pyon, the content of moisture decreased, somewhat in total sugar, crude lipid, ash was increased. The pH of raw material for Samul Chol Pyon was shown at 5.70~5.80, in the mild acidity. Total saturated fatty acid of 50% added to the sample was shown to be four times higher than that of rice powder. The raw materials of Samul Chol Pyon were shown to possess 16 kinds of total amino acids. The content of minerals, K, P, Zn, Mn, Fe, Mg, Ca increased its additive raw material of Samul Chol Pyon. Especially, Na decreased, while K increased its additive raw materials of Samul Chol Pyon. In a limited Na diet, Samul Chol Pyon should be used in the future.

  • Synthesis of the fluorescent Au nanoclusters is reported. The Au nanoclusters were synthesized via reduction of gold ions in reverse micelles with mild reducing agents. The Au nanoclusters show a bright red emission at 640 nm. The fluorescent Au nanoclusters attract great interest for sensor, electronic device and bio-imaging applications because of ultra-small size, high chemical stablity and bright emission. We believe that the fluorescent Au nanoclusters can have optoelectronic applications such as optical down conversion phosphors.

  • Inorganic-organic hybrid perovskite solar cells have demonstrated a significant achievement by reaching a certified power conversion efficiency of 25.2% in 2019 as compared to that of 3.8% in 2009. However, organic hole conductors such as PTAA and spiro-OMeTAD are known to be expensive and unstable when they are exposed to operational conditions. In this study, the inorganic hole conductor CuSCN was used to overcome such concerns. The influence of dipropyl sulfide (DPS) and diethyl sulfide (DES) as CuSCN deposition solvents on the underlying perovskite active layer was investigated. DES solvent was observed to be advantageous in terms of CuSCN solubility and mild for the perovskite layer, thereby resulting in a power conversion efficiency of 16.9%.

  • Optically translucent Sialon ceramics was fabricated by hot pressed sintering method. The Sialon ceramics was laser textured and their tribological performance was observed. Starved lubrication method was applied on Sialon ceramics with different dimple spacing under a load of 10N and at room temperature. The material having high dimple spacing ($200{\mu}m$) shows low coefficient of friction. The material shows mild wear and therefore, wear rate of steel ball (meeting partner) was observed to measure wear rate. Different phases Sialon ceramics were analyzed by XRD patterns. Moreover, the mechanical properties of the Sialon ceramics were observed.

  • The ocean environment offshore West Africa is considered to be mild. However, the generated swell from distant North and South Atlantic during austral winter and summer can reach high wave amplitudes with relatively low wave periods or low wave amplitudes with long wave periods, the later can be a crucial scenario to consider when the assessment of vessel resonance is of importance. Most offshore operations, which include offshore drilling, and installation in West Africa, are carried out from floating systems. The response of these systems and performance are governed by characteristics, such as amplitude and frequency of the wave and swell seas. It is therefore important to fully understand the sea conditions offshore Nigeria. This study covers the description of the swell sea offshore Nigeria using Bonga offshore wave measurements collected from the directional wave-rider (DWR), positioned at the Bonga site off the coast of Nigeria.

  • Spent activated carbons (SACs) collected from a water treatment plant were regenerated and then adopted as electrochemical material in capacitors. The SACs used in this study were regenerated via two steps, namely thermal and chemical activation. However, during the activation process, the adsorbates were converted into ashes, which caused pore blockage and decreased specific surface area. The regenerated SACs were washed with acid solutions with different levels of acidity (strong: HCl, mild: H3PO4, and weak: H2O2) to remove the ashes. The regenerated SACs washed with HCl exhibited the highest specific surface area, although their capacitance was not the highest. Conversely, the specific surface area of regenerated SACs washed using H3PO4 was slightly lower than that of HCl, but exhibited higher capacitance and electrochemical stability. Although the strong acid removed the generated ashes in the pores efficiently, it could adversely affect their structural stability, which would lead to lower capacitance.

  • The SM45C metallic coupons have been tested under static tensile loading with acoustic emission (AE) as the load-deflection curve mainly. In this study, we used AE to detect the yielding of material and AE techniques was applied to rapidly estimate the mechanical characteristics of a material. First, coupons without an artificial defect were tested at different cross-head speed. For all cases in this analysis, yielding point of SM45C coupons did not appear definitely compared to mild steel, whereas coupons start to generate AE counts upon yielding. So all cases are normalized to know the possibility of accelerated life test of a material. And next, coupons with different from sizes of circular hole defects were tested at the same cross-head speed of 5 mm/min. Results were classified into 3 classes and analyzed by AE amplitude & signal strength as a function of time. Summarizing the specific conclusions, we need to additional research considering plate with width-ratio in order to estimate the fracture mechanism.
