The purpose of this study is to analyze the changes in contents of home management part in the home economics textbooks fur middle school from the 1st to the 7th curriculum period. The contents in the all of home economics textbooks published in every curriculum period are analyzed. The major findings of this study are as follows: 1. The part of home management is divided into seven specific areas including 'definition and process of home management', 'utilization of family resource and environment management', 'time management', 'household labor/work nanagement', 'family financial management', 'purchasing', and 'consumer protection'. 2. From the 6th curriculum period, the area of 'definition and process of home management' begun to be explained using system's approach and the area of 'household labor/work management' changed its' focus from household to self management. 3. The areas emphasized in the beginning of curriculum period were 'family financial management' and 'household labor/work management'. The 'consumer protection' ' and 'utilization of family resource and environment management' were the areas emphasized in the later curriculum period. 4. The contents of 'family financial management' area have changed very little, however, the contents of 'purchasing' area have changed a lot during the all curriculum periods. 5. The contents of illustrations, tables, pictures, and activities have changed according to changes of the contents of the textbooks.
A dapo type bracket system which consists of chuganpo(柱間包) and chusangpo(柱上包) with a fake-beam adopted a nemok-dori member to cope with oemok-dori member in order to obtain balance between the outer-side and the inner-side of the bracket system. The middle part of the longest rater in the dapo system is supported by three points made by oemok-dori, jusim-dori and nemok-dori members and the area between the rafer supporting points forms a supporting area. The increase of rafter supporting points and supporting area leads to heightening the structural stability and the efficiency of load delivery. In the eave of dapo system the portion where the three supporting points formed by oemok-dori, jusim-dori and nemok-dori members shows as 33% in the early period, 71% in the middle period and 78% in the later period. On the contrary the portion where more than one of the three dori members were omitted shows as 67% in the early period, 29% in the middle period and 22% in the later period. This is the result of the increase of the number and the distance of steps in the dapo bracket system as time goes on. This is because the structural role of three supporting points becomes important as the increase of distance between the dori members leads to the increase of load which burdens on each dori member.

The purpose of this study is to help improvements of education and effective management of school organization by grasping interrelationship between middle school teachers' job satisfaction and their teaching profession consciousness based on the different levels of professional socialization. To accomplish the purpose stated above, two questions were selected. First, how different are the middle school teachers' teaching profession consciousness according to the different levels of professional socialization? Second, how different are the middle school teachers' job satisfactions according to the levels of professional socialization. To answer these questions, a theoretical investigation into previous studies was made, and survey method was adopted for the inquiry. 500 questionnaires were given to teachers of 14 middle schools in Busan Metropolitan City, 470 questionnaires were collected. The results of the analysis may be summarized as follows: First, the teaching profession consciousness of middle school teachers show high level. Especially, there are much difference of teaching profession consciousness between the period of adaptation and maturity. Second, job satisfaction of middle school teachers show low level, and the job satisfaction points of compensations, school administrations, changes of educational environments are lower than the points of human relations, extension of profession, stress of duties. Especially, there are much difference between the period of adaptation and growth, adaptation and maturity, growth and maturity, growth and mellowness.
The effects of Eurycoma longifolia Jack on masculine copulatory behaviour were studied in the middle aged male Sprague-Dawley rats, 9 months old and retired breeders after dosing them with 500 mg/kg twice daily for 10 days prior to test. The test lasted for 30 minutes after a 20 minute adaptation period, was carried out on the 11th day during the dark phase of the light-dark cycle (2000-0700 hours) and in subdued light, using a modified copulation cage but with the presence of a piece of mirror of appropriate size to facilitate observation. Results showed that the mean values of EL-1, EL-2 and EL-3 of the control middle aged male rats were 103.20 sec, 91.21 sec and 80.00 sec but were significantly (p<0.05) increased to 118.40-120.20 sec, 101.24-171.28 sec and 100.42-110.21 sec respectively in the methanol-chloroform, methanol-butanol-water and methanol-butanol treated middle aged male rats. However, further results also showed that PEI-1 and PEI-2 of the control middle aged male rats were 182.30 sec and 257.2 sec but were significantly (p<0.05) decreased to 100.42-121.31 sec and 40.21-132.31 sec respectively in the methanol-chloroform-butanol-water and methanol-butanol treated middle aged male rats. In conclusion, this study showed that although E. longifolia Jack continued to enhance the sexual activity of the middle aged male rats by extending the duration of coitus and decreasing the refractory period between the different series of copulation, but to a smaller degree as compared to sexually active, adult male rats (Ang and Sim, 1997).
The purpose of this study was to evaluate students' satisfaction with foodservice of middle school by region in Gangwon province. Students’ satisfaction concerning foodservice quality characteristics was surveyed by using importance performance analysis(IPA) technique in middle school foodsevice operations. Middle school students from four cities(Gangnung, Sokcho, Wonju, Chuncheon) were surveyed by self-developed questionnaire. Total of 1,025 questionnaires(female 521 and male 504 respectively) were analyzed using SAS program. The results of this study are summarized as follows: 1.The performance level of foodservice quality attributes was significantly different according to region. 2.The attribute of the highest performance level was taste of food. The attributes of the lower performance level were waiting time of meal service and treatment about complaints. The attributes of the higher importance level were hygiene of food and dining room and hygiene of spoon and cup and drinking water table. 3.Satisfied quality attributes identified were taste of food and variety of menu. Dissatisfied quality attribute identified was treatment about complaints. 4.The satisfaction of middle school lunch service was lower than their elementary school period. 5.The satisfied quality attributes of middle school foodservice were portion size, facility of dining room, hygiene of food, variety of menu compared with their elementary school period.
This experiment was carried out to investigate of the early pregnancy diagnosis by finger pressure method, mucus smear method and rectal palpation method in 169 heads of pregnant dairy cow. 1. Pregnancy diagnostic rate of previous, middle and late period of pregnancy by finger pressure methods were 87.3%, 82.0% and 70% respectively. 2. Pregnancy diagnostic rate of previous, middle and late period of pregnancy by mucus smear methods were 83.1%. 94.9% and 95.0% respectively. 3. Pregnancy diagnostic rate of previous, middle and later period of pregnancy by rectal palpation methods were 83.1%, 96.1% and 100% respectively. 4. Pregnancy diagnostic rate of early pregnancy by finger pressure method, mucus smear method and rectal palpation method were 86.7%, 86.8% and 66% respectively. 5. Accordingly, finger pressure method in pregnancy diagnosis is thought to be recommendable because this early diagnostic means are simple with accurate results.
Maximal oxygen uptake was measured in thirty-three secondary school girls by means of the treadmill test. Eighteen middle school girls aged 14.0 (range: $13.0{\sim}15.9$) years and fifteen high school girls aged 16.9 (range: $16.0{\sim}18.0$) years served as subjects. Maximal treadmill run lasted for 2 minutes and 20 seconds and the expired air was collected in a Douglas bag through a J-valve during the last one minute period. In general, absolute values of various measurements in the high school girls were greater than those of the middle school girls. When values were expressed on the body weight or lean body weight basis, however, work capacity of middle school girls was superior to that of the high school girls. The detailed results are as follows: 1. In middle school girls maximal oxygen uptake was 1.78 l/min., 47.4 ml/kg body weight, 12.3 ml/cm body height, and 61.7ml/kg lean body mass. In high school girls maximal oxygen uptake was 1.93 l/min., 39.7ml/kg body weight, 12.3 ml/cm body height, and 51.2 ml/kg LBM. Although the absolute value of maximal oxygen uptake was greater in high school girls than in middle school girls, values expressed on the body weight basis showed the reverse trend, namely, values of the middle school girls was greater than those of the high school girls. 2. The ratio of maximal to resting oxygen uptake was 8.8 in the middle school girls and was 10.2 in the high school girls. 3. Maximal pulmonary ventilation in the middle school girls was 55.3 l/min. and 66.1 l/min. in the high school girls. The ratio of maximal to resting pulmonary ventilation was 10.2 in the middle school girls and 10.1 in the high school girls. 4. The correlation between body weight and maximal oxygen uptake was relatively high, namely, r=0.79 both in middle and high school girls. The correlation coefficient between body weight and maximal pulmonary ventilation was a little less that of between maximal oxygen uptake and showed a value of r=0.60 both in middle and high school girls. The lean body mass was a poor reference of maximal oxygen uptake or maximal pulmonary ventilation as compared to body weight. The correlation between maximal oxygen uptake and maximal pulmonary ventilation was high and the coefficient of correlation in middle school girls was 0.927 and in high school girls it was 0.856. 5. Maximal ventilation equivalent was 30.9 liters in middle school girls and 33.9 liters in high school girls. This indicated that no hyperventilation was induced during the maximal of oxygen uptake exercise period as related to the maximal oxygen uptake. 6. Heart rate reached to the peak value within 1.5 minutes after beginning of maximal oxygen uptake run and remained at the same peak plateau level throughout the entire running period. Heart rate decreased steeply on cessation of running and subsided slowly thereafter. The maximal heart rate was 184 beat/min. in middle school girls and 189 beat/min. in high school girls. 7. Maximal oxygen pulse was 9.4 in middle school girls and 9.9 ml/beat in high school girls.
This study mainly inquired characteristics and changes of 'Chang-aelgool' through 38 cases(with 161 Ssang-chang) of annex and pavillion buildings in Yeong-nam region which are built during the Chosun dynasty. The method of inquiry included actual survey of windows along with bibliographical research, and the results are as below. First, through the discovery of the term 'Chang-aelgool' as an indication of the window-forming frame in 'YeongGeonUiGwe'(1680 A.D), it is apparent that the term 'Chang-aelgool' was widely used in Korea from the late 17th century. Second, the 'Chang-aelgool' of study objects are classified into 4 categories. Type I and II are comprised of mitre-joints which cover the 4 corners of 'Chang-aelgool' and mainly used in building annex and pavillion buildings during the early period of the Chosun dynasty. Type III was widely used during the early and middle period of the Chosun dynasty and drastically dropped in number during the late period of the dynasty. Type IV is comprised of mitre-joint of the upper-half, tenon-jointing of the lower-half and widely used in annex and pavillion building during the late period of the Chosun dynasty. Third, the form of 'Chang-aelgool' has changed from rectangular form with longer width during the early period of Chosun dynasty to square form during the middle period and eventually ended up as a rectangular form with longer height during the late period of the dynasty. Fourth, it is considered that while mullion which is located in the center of 'Chang-aelgool' was mainly used around the main floored room during the early period of the Chosun dynasty, became commonly used in main floored room and 'ondol' rooms during the middle period and drastically dropped in number from then and ended up being not in use after the mid 18th century.
This study examined how middle-aged jobholders anticipate their living after retirement, how they plan their post-retirement financial welfare and what attitude they have towards old age. The data came from 290 middle-aged male and female people in Incheon, Suwon and Cheongju city and were analyzed to find the differences among public planned pension types, such as the National Pension System (NPS), the Government Employee Pension Corporation (GEPC), and the Korea Teachers Pension (KTP). The major results were as follows: First, the expected income level after retirement in GEPC members was the highest and the lowest in KTP members. Second, the expected living period after retirement is the main criteria used when determining the amount of money needed for old age. Third, KTP members were of the most inferior at financial planning and practice, especially self-reflection of their expending behavior, thrift and saving practice for old age.
The purpose of this study was to investigate how the married middle-aged married men and women describe their own gender-role attitude, mid-life crisis and psychological adjustment, including search components as both middle-aged men and women's income, and education with occupation. Psychological adjustment was composed of mid-life crisis, depression, and perceived happiness, These data were collected from 397 married, middle aged men and women from 40 years to 59 years-old by using self-administered questionnaire method, The summarized results of the study are as follows: First of all, the middle-aged men's gender-role attitudes were more traditional gender-role attitudes 'than of women's. Second, in general characteristic, the men were different according to education, However, the women's gender-role attitudes were different according to ages, a period of marriage, education, income, and occupation. Third, in psychological adjustment, the men had significant differences in income. And, the women had significant differences in ages, a period of marriage, education, income, and occupation. Finally, the men and women's gender-role attitudes were positively correlated with mid-life crisis and depression, and were negatively correlated with happiness. And, the women's gender-role attitudes were positively correlated with psychological adjustment.
