  • We report the microwave reflection coefficient $S_{11}$ of copper(II)-phthalocyanine(CuPc) using a near-field microwave microscope(NSMM) in order to understand the intrinsic electromagnetic properties of organic materials. For a NSMM system, a high-quility microstip resonator coupled with a dielectric resonator was used. The reflection coefficient $S_{11}$ was changed by the preparation conditions of CuPc thin films. We compared the reflection coefficient with crystal phase, surface morphology, UV absorption spectra and x-ray diffraction results.

  • In this paper, we explain new EM(electromagnetic) wave absorber that mixed NC (Natural Ceramics) and Ferrite with NL(Natural Lacquer). At first, a mixed NC and Ferrite(NC : F = (0.1~30)wt% : (99.9~70)wt%) bum at 95$0^{\circ}C$~125$0^{\circ}C$. And then, it is comminuted and injected into NL((NC+F) . NL = (30~80)wt% (70~20)wt%), finally we made Ferrite-NL EM wave absorber. Generally, conventional labor Ferrite covers only 500 MHz to 10 GHz under tolerance limits of 2 to 6 dB in absorption, and Ferrite-NL is over 8 ~ 14 dB. However, NCFerrite-NL huts superior absorption ability. It is over 16 to 19 dB through 500 MHz to 10 GHz.

  • The foam concrete was fabricated by adding the foaming agent which composite ordinary Portland cement with plant and animal protein into cement paste, and the electromagnetic wave absorption properties were studied for the first time as well. The studies showed that the electromagnetic waves can be absorbed by multiple reflections and scattering within the porous material. Thickness and filling ratio have a great influence on the electromagnetic wave absorbing properties in 2-18 GHz of the foam concrete, the greater the thickness, the better the performance of absorption; filling ratio was about 52 vol.%, the absorbing properties achieved the best.

  • In this experimentation, we investigated the characteristics of electromagnetic wave absorption of ferroxplana powder and silicone rubber composite. Ferroxplana was prepared by flux method at low temperature. The crystallization, magnetic properties and particle morphology of the obtained ferroxplana powder were investigated by using XRD, VSM and SEM. The particle size of ferroxplana powder was 2∼4$\mu\textrm{m}$ at the ratio of R=26, The coercivity and saturation magnetization of ferroxplana powder increased slightly with increase of temperature, The magnetic loss was the main factor of electromagnetic wave absorption of ferroxplana powder and silicone rubber composite, The maximum reflection loss of composite was about -l5dB below 4GHz.

  • The absorption properties of Cu-Zn ferrite/rubber composite microwave absorbers with PZT(Lead Zirconate Titanate) additive were evaluated. The composite specimens have prepared by molding and curing the mixture of matrix rubber and Cu-Zn ferrite powders which are synthesized by the coprecipitation method using Fe Cl/sub 3/ .center dot. 6H/sub 2/O, CuCl/sub 2/ .center dot. 2H/sub 2/O and Zn Cl/sub 2/ as a starting raw materials. PZT is used as another filler particles to adjust the material constants of Cu-Zn ferrite/rubber composite specimens. We have found that the material constants of specimens could be controlled by various PZT mixing ratio. On the Cu-Zn ferrite/rubber composite specimens with PZT 10[wt%] additive, the reflection losses were larger than 30[dB] in the frequency range from 2.72 to 4.4[GHz]' by adjusing the thickness.

  • We measured the low field microwave absorption (LFMA) and ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) signals at various magnetic field angle in exchange biased CoFe/MnIr thin film. The LFMA signals were dominantly related to the magnetization rotation process. In order to analyze the LFMA signal, we calculated transverse magnetization ($M_{\tau}$) and permeability (${\mu}_{\tau}$) for CoFe/MnIr thin film by using S-W model, which magnetic parameters of exchange bias ($H_{ex}$ = 58.5 Oe) and uniaxial anisotropy field ($H_k$ = 30Oe) was obtained from FMR signals. The LFMA signal at hard axis showed similar behavior compared with that of $M_{\tau}$. As the magnetic field angle approach to the perpendicular to hard axis, the LFMA signals were depending on both of $M_{\tau}$ and ${\mu}_{\tau}$.

  • In order to measure the absolute plasma density, various probes are proposed and investigated and microwave probes are widely used for its advantages (Insensitivity to thin non-conducting material deposited by processing plasmas, High reliability, Simple process for determination of plasma density, no complicate assumptions and so forth). There are representative microwave probes such as the cutoff probe, the hairpin probe, the impedance probe, the absorption probe and the plasma transmission probe. These probes utilize the microwave interactions with the plasma-sheath and inserted structure (probe), but frequency range used by each probe and specific mechanisms for determining the plasma density for each probe are different. In the recent studies, behaviors of each microwave probe with respect to the plasma parameters of the plasma density, the pressure (the collision frequency), and the sheath width is abundant and reasonably investigated, whereas relative diagnostic characteristics of the probes by a comparative study is insufficient in spite of importance for comprehensive applications of the probes. However, experimental comparative study suffers from spatially different plasma characteristics in the same discharge chamber, a low-reproducibility of ignited plasma for an uncertainty in external discharge parameters (the power, the pressure, the flow rate and so forth), impossibility of independently control of the density, the pressure, and the sheath width as well as expensive and complicate experimental setup. In this paper, various microwave probes are simulated by finite-different time-domain simulation and the error between the input plasma density in FDTD simulations and the measured that by the unique microwave spectrums of each probe is obtained under possible conditions of plasma density, pressure, and sheath width for general low-temperature plasmas. This result shows that the each probe has an optimum applicable plasma condition and reliability of plasma density measurement using the microwave probes can be improved by the complementary use of each probe.

  • In this study we successfully altered the structural characteristics of the mica surface and were able to control oil-absorption by using the microwave enhanced etching (MEE) technique, which has originally been used in semiconductor industry. When microwave energy is applied to the mica, the surface of the mica is etched in a few minutes. As the result of etching, oil-absorption of the mica was enhanced and surface whiteness was improved by modifying the silicon dioxide layer. Additionally, the high whiteness was maintained even though the etched mica absorbed the sebum or sweat. The surface modification of mica was performed by microwave irradiation after the treatment of hydrofluoric acid. The degree of etching was regulated by acid concentration, irradiation time, the amount of energy and slurry concentration. The surface morphology of the etched mica appears to be the shape of the 'Moon'. The characteristics of surface area and roughness were examined by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analysis, atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), spectrophotometer and goniophotometer.

  • We report the electro-optical properties of the sensory rhodopsin II using a near-field scanning microwave microscope(NSMM). Rhodopsin was known as a photoreceptor pigment with a retinal as a chromophore via a protonated Schiff base and consists of seven ${\alpha}-helical$ transmembrane segments. The sensory rhodopsin II, expressing E. coli UT5600 with endogenous retinal biosynthesis system and purified with $Ni^{-2}-NTA$ affinity chromatography in the presence of 0.02 % DM (Dodecyl Maltoside) from Natronomonas pharaonis. We measured the absorption spectra and the transients difference of sensory rhodopsin II from Natronomonas pharaonis using a UV/VIS spectrophotometer with Nd-Yag Laser (532 nm). The absorption spectra of NpSR II showed a typical rhodopsin spectrum with a left shoulder region and the photointermediates spectra of NpSR II-ground state (${\lambda}max=498\;nm$), NpSR II-M state (${\lambda}max=390\;nm$), and NpSR II-O state (${\lambda}max=550\;nm$) during the photocycle. The observed photocycle reaction was confirmed by measuring the microwave reflection coefficient $S_{11}$ at an operating frequency of f=3.93-3.95 GHz and compared with the results of a photocycle of NpSR II.
