Cu 입자분산 Al2O3 나노복합재료의 미세조직과 기계적 특성에 미치는 소결온도의 영향 (Effect of Sintering Temperature on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Cu Particles Dispersed Al2O3 Nanocomposites)

  • The microstructure and mechanical properties of hot-pressed $Al_2O_3/Cu$ composites with a different sintering temperature have been studied. The size of matrix grain and Cu dispersion in composites increased with increase in sintering temperature. Fracture toughness of the composite sintered at high temperature exhibited an enhanced value. The toughness increase was explained by the thermal residual stress, crack bridging and crack branching by the formation of microcrack. The nanocomposite, hot-pressed at $1450^{\circ}C$, showed the maximum fracture strength of 707 MPa. The strengthening was mainly attributed to the refinement of matrix grains and the increased toughness.

  • The 2.5 vol% TiNi/6061Al composites were fabricated by permanent mold casting, and its microstructures and tensile test for the cold rolled composites with maximum 50% reduction ratio were investigated. In the case of TiNi fiber with 2mm interval in preform, the interface bonding of fabricated composites were good. EPMA analysis results were found the small amount of Mg, Si segregated interface of diffusion layer. Transverse section of TiNi fiber was decreased with increasing reduction ratio and 40% reduction ratio was observed microcrack from TiNi fiber. And the tensile strength of composites at 38% reduction ratio was 194MPa. In the case of over 38% reduction ratio, the decrease of the tensile strength was due to TiNi fiber rupture by excess working. The fracture mode was appeared brittle fracture with increasing reduction ratio

  • The effects of aging of PSF/AS4 laminates on fatigue was studied using the new energy release rate analysis. The analysis by the variational mechanics has been useful in providing fracture mechanics interpretation of matrix microcracking in cross-ply laminates. This paper describes the changes of the critical energy release rate (microcracking toughness) according to the aging period under fatigue loading. The master plot by modified Paris-law gives a characterization of a material system's resistance to microcrack formation. PSF $[0/90_{s}]_{s}$ laminates were aged at four different temperature based on the glass transition temperature for 0 to 60 days. At all temperatures, the toughness decreased with aging time. The decrease of the toughness at higher temperature was faster than at lower temperature. To assess the effects of aging on fatigue, the unaged laminates were compared with the laminates which had been aged for 60 days at 170$^{\circ}C$ near 180 $^{\circ}C$ t$_g$. The slope of dD/dN versus ${\Delta}G_m$. of the aged laminates was lower than that of the unaged laminates. There was a significant shift of the aged data to formation of microcracks at the lower values of ${\Delta}G_m$.

비커스 압입 하중에 의한 취성재료의 균열 신호특성 (The Signal Characteristics from Crack of Brittle Materials by Vickers Load)

  • 본 연구에서는 3종류의 취성재료에 비커스 경도기를 사용하여 압축하중에 의한 신호특성과 잔류응력의 에너지 해방에 의하여 검출되는 신호특성을 조사하였다. 각 시험편에서 I영역과 III영역에서는 신호가 검출되었으나, 일정 하중이 유지되는 II영역에서는 음향방출 신호가 전혀 검출되지 않았다. 유리 시험편은 III영역에서 높은 진폭값을 가지는 신호가 검출되었고, $Al_2O_3$$Al_2O_3/SiC$ 시험편은 I영역에서 높은 진폭값을 가지는 신호가 검출되었다.

  • In this study, the effect of temperature effect of the rubber matrix filled with nano sized silica particles composites with silica volume fraction of 19-25% was investigated by the Charpy impact test. The Charpy impact test was conducted in the temperature range from $-40^{\circ}C$ to $0^{\circ}C$. The critical energy release rate GIC of the rubber matrix composites filled with nano sized silica particles was considerably affected by temperature and it was shown that the maximum value was appeared at higher temperature between temperature tested and it was shown that the value of GIC increases as temperature tested increases. The major fracture mechanisms were matrix deformation, silica particle debonding and delamination, microcrack between particles and matrix, and/or pull out between particles and matrix which is ascertained by SEM photographs of Charpy impact surfaces fracture.

  • Al2TiO5 powder was prepared by the sol-gel processing from th metal alkoxides ; aluminium sec-butoxide (Al(OC4H9)3 and tetraethyl orthotitanate (Ti(OC2H5)4) The particles of Al2TiO5 produced from alkoxides were measured to be below $1.5mutextrm{m}$ and mre than 90% weere below 1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ however those from commercial alumina and titania were over 0.5-7${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and only 60% were below 1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 90% were below 2.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ Therefore Al2TiO5 powder produced from alkoxides had the narrower distributionin size than that produced from the commercial alumina and titania powders. The addition of mullite or Al2O3 powder to the prepared aluminum titanate inhibited the grain growth and this resulted in decreased and increase in density.

Finite element analysis of shear-deficient RC beams strengthened with CFRP strips/sheets

  • Performance of shear-deficient reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened with carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips/sheets is analyzed through numerical simulations on four-point bending tests. The numerical simulations are carried out using the finite element (FE) program ABAQUS. A micromechanics-based constitutive model (Liang et al. 2006) is implemented into the FE program ABAQUS to model CFRP strips/sheets. The predicted results are compared with experiment data (Khalifa and Nanni 2002) to assess the accuracy of the proposed FE analysis approach. A series of numerical tests are conducted to investigate the influence of stirrup lay-ups on the shear strengthening performance of the CFRP strips/sheets, to illustrate the influence of the damage parameters on the microcrack density evolution in concrete, and to investigate the shear and flexural strengthening performance of CFRP strips/ sheets. It has been shown that the proposed FE analysis approach is suitable for the performance prediction of RC beams strengthened with CFRP strips/sheets.

  • [$YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$] thin films were deposited on various buffered-templates by a metal organic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD). Three different templates of $CeO_2/YSZ/CeO_2/pure-Ni(CYC),\;CeO_2/YSZ/Y_2O_3/Ni-3at.%W(YYC)$ and $CeO_2/IBAD-YSZ$/stainless steel were used. The Ni and Ni-W alloy tapes were biaxially textured by cold rolling and annealing heat treatment. The dense YBCO films were grown on both the IBAD and YYC templates with no microcrack, while the YBCO films on the CYC templates were grown with the formation of microcracks and NiO. The YBCO film on the YYC template showed the higher $I_c$ than that on CYC template. Especially, the IBAD templates with a thin $CeO_2$(type I) and thick $CeO_2$(type II) top layer were used to compare the deposition nature of the YBCO on them. Comparing the current property of the YBCO films on IBAD templates, the YBCO film deposited on thick $CeO_2$ layer was better than the film on thin $CeO_2$ layer.

  • $Bi_{2}Sr_{2}CaCu_{2}O_{x}$(Bi-2212) and $Bi_{2}Sr_{2}Ca_{2}Cu_{3}O_{y}$(Bi-2223) high-$T_{c}$ superconductor(HTS) coating have been prepared by plasma spraying and heaat treatment. The Bi-2212 HTS coating later is synthesized through the peritectic reaction between Sr-Ca-Cu oxide coating layer and Bi-Cu oxide coating later, and $Bi_{2}Sr_{2}CaCu_{2}O_{y}$(Bi-2212) superconducting phase grow by partial melting process. The superconducting characteristic depends strongly on the conditions of the partial melting process. the Bi-2212 HTS layer consists of the whiskers grown in the diffusion direction. Above the 2212 layer, Bi-2223 phase and secondary phase was observed. The secondary phase is distributed uniformly over the whole surface. This is caused to the microcrack on the coatings surface. Despite everything, the film shows superconducting with an onset $T_{c}$ of about 115K. There are two changes steps. One changes (1step) at 115K is due to the diamagnetism of the Bi-2223 phase and the other changes (2step) at 78K is due to the diamagnetism of the Bi-2212 phase.

극지 빙하유동에 있어서 Polycrystalline Ice의 Creep 변형특성 수치 시뮬레이션 (Creep Deformation Characteristics of Polycrystalline Ice and its Numerical Simulation in the Flow of Polar Glaciers)

  • 극지방의 해양 환경은 낮은 온도와 함께 여러 가지 형태로 존재하는 얼음의 분포에 의해 큰 영향을 받는다. 빙하와 빙산, 해빙 등 빙역학의 기초적인 이해를 위하여 본 연구는 polycrystalline ice의 재료적 특성과 파괴기구 등을 파악하고 극지 방하유동시 관측되는 creep 변경을 기술하기 위한 constitutive 모델을 제시하였다. 빙변형에 관여되는 여러 가지 물리적 변화 중 microcracking에 의한 재료의 손상을 주요인으로 간주하여 파손역학의 이론을 적용한 3차원 수치모델을 개발하였으며 기발표된 실험 결과와 비교하였다. 1축 균일압축을 받는 경우 실험 데이타와 수치모델은 유사한 거동을 보이고 있으며, 빙변형에 있어서 1, 2기 creep의 소성적 변형특성 뿐 아니라 microcracking에 의한3기(tertiary) creep의 특징까지도 잘 기술해 주고 있다.
