Design of Optical Path for Small Form Factor Optical Disk Drive and Fabrication of Micro-Compensatory Lens (초소형 광 정보 저장 기기를 위한 광 경로 설계 및 마이크로 보정 렌즈 제작)

  • The purpose of this paper is to design a pick-up for the small form factor optical disk drive and to fabricate a micro-compensatory lens for the pick-up using the micro-compression molding process. At design stage, the optical elements including the objective lens and the compensatory lens are miniaturized. The height of pick-up and free working distance are designed as 2mm and 0.2% respectively. To analyze the fabricated micro-compensatory lens, the system was analyzed using the surface profile of the fabricated micro-compensatory lens and CODE V which is commercial software. The RMS wave front aberration of the system using fabricated micro-compensatory lens is 0.01677λ which is lower than Marechal's criterion, 0.07λ.

  • In this paper, we present a polysilicon actuator on silicon wafer using surface micromachining technology which employs an electrostatic stepwise driven Scratch Drive Actuator to generate a force that can move an external object. For optical applications, we propose wavelength selector using distributed feedback structures and this micro actuator.

  • Micro stepping method is adopted in order to eliminate effectively the resonant phenomena and to increase the positional resolution. Exist micro-step method by using Sinusoidal waveform, drive circuit is complex by using micro controller and ROM, it have fault on cost Increase. This paper proposed trapezoidal current wave form for simple control circuit and micro stepping method by using a low cost controller. This paper proposed method verify by using CPLD(EPM9320RC208-15) of low cost. This paper make experiment that comparison of exist method and proposed method. This paper obstruct a escape of motor by using high speed detect.

  • Current Optical Disk drive is dominating high share gradually in information storage device market through development of great skill. These technologies can achieve not only improvement of transmission speed but also elevation of recording/reproduction technology. However, these present state cause not only the increase of vibration in structural viewpoint but also problem of serious noise while the ODD becomes high speed/high performance. Specially, air-born noise is being bigger than structural-born noise as disk rotation speed increases gradually. The object of this research is that reduce the air-born noise in optical disk drive by reducing a quantity of flow by using a miniaturized muffler. The micro muffler is a miniaturized muffler. The muffler is used widely by solution to reduce air-born noise which is generated by flow. According to frequency band of the noise source, it can be applied by muffler of various forms. In this research, we examined the noise characteristics of the micro muffler and applied it by noise reduction solution of the ODD. It could get an excellent noise reduction in high frequency band by using the micro muffler than the opened case through the decrease of an inner flow. But it could not get a noise reduction in low frequency band through the decrease of an inner flow.

  • As high performance and high speed have been accomplished by technology of optical disk drive. optical disk drives have gradually high percentage of the market share in market of storage devices. This technology helps to improve the quality of record/reproduction. However, simultaneously it causes various problems in the structural aspect and increases noise largely. Especially at high speed, dominant noise is more influenced by fluid noise than by structure-borne noise. The purpose of this study is that reduce the air-born noise in optical disk drive as it decreases a quantity of flow by using a micro muffler. The micro muffler is a miniaturized muffler. The muffler is used widely by solution to reduce air-borne noise which is generated by flow. According to frequency band of the noise source, it can be applied by muffler of various forms. In this study, we examined the acoustic characteristics of the micro muffler and applied it to reduction of the ODD noise.   • This paper reports a novel microfluidic system, by which microfluidic delivery, transport and control can be digitally realized in femtoliter scale. Microelectronic grade $N_2$ from a pressurized canister was passed through HPLC tubing into a micro injector. The micro injector was driven and controlled digitally by the control system that can apply various control parameters such as pulse frequencies. A front-end of micro nozzle was inserted the dyed oil to collect droplets injected. The diameter of a droplet was measured by a microscope and a CCD camera, and then its volume can be calculated on the assumption that the droplet is spherical. The micro nozzles were simply pulled in glass capillary tubes by the micro puller self-made, and the geometry parameters of the micro nozzles can be adjusted easily. Experiments have successfully been carried out, and the results demonstrated that the proposed digital micro injector possesses three significant advantages : precise ultra-small liquid volume in femtoliter scale, digital microfluidic control and micro devices fabricated by simple glass process, not based on IC process.

  • As a disk drive becomes widely used in portable environments, one of the important requirements is durability under severe environmental condition, especially, resistance to mechanical shock. An important challenge in the disk recording is to improve disk drive robustness in shock environments. If the system comes In contact with outer shock disturbance, the system gets critical damage in head-gimbal assembly or disk. This paper describes analysis of a HGA(head-gimbal assembly) in micro MO drives to shock loading during both non-operating state and operating state. A finite element model which consists of the disk, suspension, slider and air bearing was used to find structural response of micro MO drives. In the operational case. the air bearing is approximated with four linear elastic springs. The commercially available finite element solver, ANSYS/LS-DYNA, is used to simulate the shock response of the HGA in micro MO drives. In this paper, the mechanical robustness of the suspension is simuiated considering the shock responses of the HGA.

  • The switched reluctance drive provides a good adjustable steed characteristics like a D.C series motor. However, because of the torque production mechanism, it also has some disadvantage such as higher torque ripple and fluctuation in speed. To reduce torque ripple and to control speed precisely at low condition current level technique is adopted. The SRM drive with current control of invariable frequency and phase swichting control has good speed regulation characteristics. Digital control system with an 80c196kc micro-controller is used to realize this drive system. Test results show that the control system has the goof ability to achive precise speed control at low speed.

  • After finding the harmonic components by measuring the thrust force, which affects high accuracy position control during micro-step drive of LPM, the exciting current was calculated to remove them. Also the detent force being induced by magnetic flux density of permanent magnetic was measured. It was comfirmed that the tooth and slot width was designed properly thresh the analysis of detent force.

  • Recently as a people recognize a safety more about a high and large buildings the importance of a fire-damper which supplies fresh air into the building in case of fire increases greatly. Therefore, in this paper a fire-damper using a micro-controller is designed and fabricated. In the design of fire-damper a pressure sensor is modeled as a capacitor and the p-spice is used as a circuit simulator PIC16F72 is used as a micro-controller to drive a pressure sensor and to display a pressure value from the pressure sensor and to drive a motor to open and close a damper. A photo-coupler is used to protect a motor from a overcurrent.
