This paper is implemented a control algorithm in order to be stable and minimized to entire train traffic system at delayed case. Signal ing system is described wi th algebraic equations given for train headway, Discrete-event simulation principles are reviewed and a demonstration block signaling model using the technique is implemented. Train congestion at station entrance for short headway operation is demonstrated and the propagation of delays along a platform of trains from any imposed delay to the leading train is also shown. A rail way signaling system is by nature a distributed operation with event triggered at discrete intervals. Although the train kinematic variables of position, velocity, and acceleration are continually changing, the changes are triggered when the trains pass over section boundaries and arrive at signals and route switches. This paper deals with linear-mode1ing, stability and optimal control for the traffic on such metro line of the model is reconstructed in order to adapt the circuits. This paper propose optimal control laws wi th state feedback ensuring the stability of the modeled system for circuits. Simulation results show the benefit to be expected from an efficient traffic control. The main results are summarized as follows: 1. In this paper we develop a linear model describing the traffic for both loop lines, two state space equations have been analyzed. The first one is adapted to the situation where a complete nominal time schedule is available while second one is adapted when only the nominal time interval between trains is known, in both cases we show the unstability of the traffic when the proceeding train is delayed following properties, - They are easily implemented at law cost on existing lines. - They ensure the exponetial stability of loop system. 2. These control laws have been tested on a traffic simulation software taking into the non-linearites and the physical constraints on a metro line. By means of simulation, the efficiency of the proposed optimal control laws are shown.
Pantograph sliding plate abrasion auto-detect system, one of the electric rail car auto-detecting devices, is a system that decides how much abrasion and when to replace without an inspector physically looking at the abrasion on the wet plate using machine vision, a cutting-edge technology. This paper covers the cause of deteriorating reliability that affects pantograph wet plate edge detection due to noise added to the video when it rains. In order to remove such noise, problems should be checked through Smoothing, Averaging mask and Median filter using filtering technique and stable edge detection without being affected by noise should be induced in video measurement used in machine vision technology.
The most important part of RIMS(Rolling Stock Information Maintenance System) project is to construct BOM(Bill of Material). BOM is a listing or description of raw materials, parts, and assemblies that define a product. To construct BOM for RIMS is not a easy task due to several reasons such as data base scale and flexibility, proper integration between physical BOM and functional BOM, interoperability with other systems, etc. In this study we show several principles that Seoul Metro takes to get over the difficulties mentioned above. Based on these principles we propose the methodology Seoul Metro employs to construct BOM efficiently. We also discuss the applicability of BOM in several fields.
Recently, ubiquitous sensor network forms the self-organization network, and transfers the information among sensor nodes that have computing technology ability. In this paper, we design and implement U-IT system for monitoring the safety of metro railway and underground shopping malls. For this, we implement sensor nodes to support IEEE 802.15.4 wireless communication standard using low power. Also we implement USN gateway node system to transmit the collected data from sensor nodes to database server over CDMA cellular network.
This study finds out and suggests success factors for the application of RIMS project through the case study of Seoul Metro and literature survey. The successful application of RIMS needs expert knowledge and concept of BOM, standardization of maintenance planning, check lists of heavy maintenance inspection, organization structure of rolling stock maintenance offices, material management system of warehousing and the process of parts repairing between offices, connection of material ordering system, problem solving of circular spare parts administration among inspection, maintenance, and material organizational units, systemic serial number management of parts with RFID, daily closing diary connected with work process chart, and sufficient period of RIMS's test run. RIMS contributes to real time management of rolling stock maintenance, transparency of management, reliability of train operation, customer satisfaction, and management innovation.
Risk-based railway safety management has been mandatory in Korea as by relevant laws and regulations enacted since the Railway Safety Act 2004. In particular, the Railway Vehicle Safety Guidance came into effect on Jan 1, 2008 specifies the details of methodology for hazard analysis, risk assessment and safety verification and validation. Fundamentals for success of the risk-based safety management are systematic hazard identification and risk assessment by use of reasonable risk assessment criteria, but the principle of risk-based safety management has not been applied in an effective way to introduction and maintenance of railway vehicle systems because definite risk assessment criteria have not been set down for each railway system or railway network. The purpose of this study is to suggest a risk matrix development principle for risk assessment of domestic urban metro vehicles by analyses of relevant rules and railway operating environment of Korea.

A metro ring network using WDM technology requires many issues to be considered even though its transmission distance is shorter and its transmission capacity is lower than a long-haul WDM system. Unlike a long-haul WDM system, which is basically point-to-point configuration, a metro ring network usually equips with capabilty of wavelength reconfiguration. Therefore network performance considering crosstalk within OADM and the network behavior when the ring network is closed should be analyzed before implemented. We discussed some of results analyzed for the issues. Furthermore we proposed a novel method to design a dispersion map for a ring network, and demonstrated the methodology with an exemplary 8-node ring network of 399km circumference.
Platform Screen Door(PSD) has been installed and operated at seoul subway line $1\sim4$ in the manual train operation mode(ATS/ATC) by SeoulMetro since 2005. SeoulMetro uses the wireless (RF) communication system and the train door detection system for the link between the train and PSD doors opening/closing motion in the manual train operation mode. For the convenience and safety of passengers, the train doors and the PSD doors opening/closing shall be synchronized as much as possible. In ATO(Automatic Train Operation) mode which provides the interface between train control system and PSD system, ATO signaling system makes the train doors and PSD doors open/close command signals systematically, so PSD doors can be opened/closed almost simultaneously with the train doors. But, in the manual train control(ATS/ATC) mode, PSD system needs to detect the train doors open/close operation and make PSD open/close command signals to actuate PSD doors. These PSD open/close commanding process cause time delay of PSD doors opening/closing motion in response to the train doors opening/closing motion. Sometimes the response delay time can be over 1 second, which is not proper to operate PSD, and need to be reduced This paper presents the reduction method of the PSD response delay time to improve the convenience and safety of passengers.
This paper presents an approximate model for computing the peak demand power in a metro railway system. The peak demand of substations can be calculated using the current vector iteration method. But the existing method requires many repeated calculations to determine the peak demand power, which makes it difficult to apply to the real-time peak power control problem. In this paper, we assume that none of the conditions vary except source impedance and make an approximate model for rapid calculation based on changes in the impedance of the power substation. The proposed model result is approximately the same as the existing model, which is demonstrated through simulation.
