  • Facing information overload in today's complex environments, managers look to a concise set of marketing metrics to provide direction for marketing decision making. While there have been several papers dealing with the theoretical aspects of dashboard creation, no research creates and tests a dashboard using scientific techniques. This study develops and demonstrates an empirical approach to dashboard metric selection. In a fast moving consumer goods category, this research selects leading indicators for national-brand and store-brand sales and revenue premium performance from 99 brand-specific and relative-to-competition variables including price, brand equity, usage occasions, and multiple measures of awareness, trial/usage, purchase intent, and liking/satisfaction. Plotting impact size and wear-in time reveals that different kinds of variables predict sales at distinct lead times, which implies that managerial action may be taken to turn the metrics around before performance itself declines.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the significant sound quality metric and compose the sound quality index of motor driven roller blind which is part of vehicle sunroof. Before subjective evaluation, sound characteristics of roller blind was analyzed and set the target operating sound for subjective evaluation. Thus, transfer sound of roller blind which has the characteristics of sound modulation was used for subjective evaluation. Linear regression was carried out by chosen Zwicker's metrics which are pointed by comments of jurors. Loudness and sharpness related metrics are prime metrics in sound quality index we composed. Effect of roller blind assay when it is attached to real vehicle was identified to evaluate the validity of index.

  • This study investigates whether rhythm metrics can be used to capture the rhythmic differences between spontaneous and read English speech. Transcription of spontaneous speech tokens extracted from a corpus is read by three English native speakers to generate the corresponding read speech tokens. Two data sets are compared in terms of seven rhythm measures that are suggested by previous studies. Results show that there is a significant difference in the values of vowel-based metrics (VarcoV and nPVI-V) between spontaneous and read speech. This manifests a greater variability in vocalic intervals in spontaneous speech than in read speech. The current study is especially meaningful as it demonstrates a way in which speech styles can be differentiated and parameterized in numerical terms.

  • In this paper, we provide application strategies of representative finance and investment metrics using breakdown properties of Return On Equity(ROE). The research discusses the relationship of ROE for finance and investment metrics such as Return On Asset(ROA), Return On Invested Capital(ROIC), Price Book Ratio(PBR), and Price Earning Ratio(PER). Furthermore, we provide three different perspectives of its purpose and utility of Residual Income(RI) Models, Market Value(MV) Models and Enterprise Value(EV) Models.

  • This paper gives an introduction to multicast in wireless mesh networks. The factors to be addressed when designing a multicast protocol for wireless mesh network are presented. Emphases are paid on selection of multicast routing metrics in wireless mesh networks. Also details of adapting these metrics to gain high-throughput multicast in wireless mesh network are described in the paper.

  • Wireless mesh networks are considered a promising solution to last mile broadband. The unique characteristics of WMN impose unique requirements on designing routing protocols and metrics for WMN. However, existing routing schemes that are designed for single-channel multi-hop wireless networks may lead to inefficient routing paths in multichannel. This paper focuses on the routing problem for multi-radio multichannel WMNs. We list the challenges in designing routing algorithms for multi-radio multichannel WMNs. Then we examine the requirements and considerations for designing routing metrics according to the characteristics of multi-radio multichannel WMNs. Finally we survey and investigate the existing routing metrics in terms of their ability to satisfy these requirements.

  • It is very important to evaluate the quality of soft wares based on SOA, which develops rapidly. Particularly, one of the most important properties influencing on the quality of system is complexity. Therefore, we propose the metrics for measuring a structural complexity of softwares based on SOA. The proposed metrics is composed of the size of a service, the depth of a service and interdependency from the viewpoint of system structure, and finally we applied the proposed metric to an example.

  • In the case of time-series analysis, it is often more convenient to rely on the frequency domain than the time domain. Spectral density is the core of the frequency-domain analysis that describes autocorrelation structures in a time-series process. Possible ways to estimate spectral density are to compute a periodogram or to average the periodogram over some frequencies with (un)equal weights. This can be an attractive tool to measure the similarity between time-series processes. We employ the metrics based on a smoothed periodogram proposed by Park and Kim (2008) for the classification of different classes of time-series processes. We consider several lag windows with unequal weights instead of a modified Daniel's window used in Park and Kim (2008). We evaluate the performance under various simulation scenarios. Simulation results reveal that the metrics used in this study split the time series into the preassigned clusters better than do the raw-periodogram based ones proposed by Caiado et al. 2006. Our metrics are applied to an economic time-series dataset.
