The ionic association constant(K) of 2,4,6, N-tetramethyl pyridinium iodide (TeMPI) in 95 volume percentage ethanol-water mixture were determined by a modified UV and conductance method at $25^{\circ}C$ to $50^{\circ}C$ under 1 to 2,000 bars. The K values increase with increasing pressure and have maximum value at $40^{\circ}C$. The partial molar volume hange (${\Delta}V$) has relatively small negative value and the absolute values of ${\Delta}$ are minimum at $40^{\circ}C$. The ion size parameter(a) of TeMPI have maximum value at $40^{\circ}C$. {\Delta}H^{\circ}$ values are zero, positive and negative at 40^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$ and $50^{\circ}C$ respectively. Other thermodynamic parameters such as the changes of standard entropy ({\Delta}S^{\circ}$) and free energy {\Delta}G^{\circ}$ were evaluated. From these experimental results, we came to conclusion that TeMPI is stabilized by the elevation of pressure and that of temperature below $40^{\circ}C$ but weakly dimerized at $40^{\circ}C$ because of the intermolecular hydrophobic interaction of eight methyl groups of two molecules. And it thermally decomposed above $50^{\circ}C$.
Solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have been constructed employing supramolecular electrolytes with multiple hydrogen bonding. A supramolecule was facilely synthesized by one-pot reaction between the amines of methyl isocytosine (MIC) and the epoxy groups of poly(ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether) (PEGDGE) to produce quadruple hydrogen bonding units. Hydrogen bonding interactions and dissolution behavior of salt in supramolecular electrolytes are investigated. The ionic conductivity of the supramolecular electrolytes with ionic liquid, i.e. 1-methyl-3-propylimidazolium iodide (MPII) reaches $8.5{\times}10^{-5}$ S/cm at room temperature, which is higher than that with metal salt (KI). A worm-like morphology is observed in the FE-SEM micrographs of $TiO_2$ nanoporous layer, due to the connection of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles resulting from adequate coating by electrolytes. DSSCs employing the supramolecular electrolytes with MPII and KI exhibit an energy conversion efficiency of 2.5 % and 0.5 %, respectively, at 100 $mW/cm^2$, indicating the importance of the cation of salt. Solar cell performances were further improved up to 3.7 % upon introduction of poly(ethylene glycol dimethyl ether) (PEGDME) with 500 g/mol.
Studies on the side effects of contrast agents are being discussed based on various cases, but studies analyzing the chemical structure of the underlying contrast agents are difficult to understand as the manufacturers have not disclosed them. Therefore, in this study, the chemical structure of the contrast medium was analyzed using 1H-NMR spectrometer for Omnipaque contrast medium prepared from Iohexol, which is a nonionic iodide contrast medium, Xenetix contrast medium from Iobitridol, and Iomeron contrast medium from Iomeprol. As a result, it was found that the Omnipaque contrast medium of Iohexol had 6 carboxyl groups, 3 carbonyl groups, 4 amine groups, 1 methyl group, and 2 cyano groups. It was found that the Xenetix contrast medium of the iobitridol formulation had 6 carboxyl groups, 3 carbonyl groups, 2 amine groups, and 4 cyano groups. It was found that the Iomeron contrast agent of the Iomeprol formulation had 5 carboxyl groups, 3 carbonyl groups, 4 amine groups, 1 methyl group, and 2 cyano groups. As shown in this study, the chemical structure of the non-ionic monomer contrast agent increases its affinity with water by binding a number of hydroxyl groups (OH) to the carboxyl group. It is necessary to accurately identify each of these factors and analyze the physical and chemical changes of the contrast medium according to various environmental factors.
Several styrylquinolium salts were synthesized to investigate their absorption and thermal properties, which had five different p-aminobenzene units and three different counter ions (iodide, perchlorate, and hexafluorophosphorate anion), respectively. Hydroxy, methoxy, and methyl group in the meta position to the amino group led to bathochromic shift, while Ν-ethyl-Ν-chloroethylamino unit instead of Ν,Ν-diethylamino unit resulted in hypsochromic shift. A dye having a methoxy group in the meta position to the amino group had the highest molar extinction coefficient ($\xi$), while a dye carrying chloro group in Ν-alkyl chains had the lowest $\xi$. The type of counter ions had no effect on spectral properties like the maximum absorption wavelength and $\xi$. All styryl dyes had exothermic peaks at decomposition in DSC curves. Among these styryl dyes, S2 series with perchlorate anions showed the strongest exothermic decomposition. From TGA spectra, S3 series with hexafluorophosphorate anions had the best thermal stability and the sharpest threshold at thermal decomposition.

Supramolecules containing double hydrogen bonding sites at their both chain ends were self-polymerized to become solid state polymer and were utilized to improve the efficiency of solid state DSSCs. Hydrogen bonding sites were attached at the chain ends of PEG of Mw=2000, such as pyrimethamine and glutaric acid. The solar cell with the solid state supramolecular polymer electrolyte resulted in the overall energy conversion efficiency of 4.63 % with a short circuit current density $(J_{sc})$ of 10.41 $mAcm^{-2}$, an open circuit voltage $V_{oc}$, of 0.71 V and a fill factor (FF) of 0.62 at one sun condition ([oligomer]:[1-methyl-3-propyl imidazolium iodide (MPII)]:$[I_2]$ = 20 : 1 : 0.19, active area = 0.16 $cm^2$, $TiO_2$ layer thickness = 10 ${\mu}m$). The ionic conductivity of the sol id state electrolyte was $5.11{\times}10^{-4}$ (S/cm). The cell performance was characterized by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and ionic conductivity.
The reaction of potassium fluoride with amyl iodide in presence of dimethylformamide at low temperature gave a fluorination product together with decane. Polyhalogenated acid such as ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$,-dichloro-${\beta}$-phenyl-propionic acid gave ${\alpha}$-chlorostyrene, fluorinated styrene, and fluorinated acid. The same reaction with the ethyl ester did not give the fluorination product and gave a mixture of various dimerized product. Dibromostyrene gave bromostyrene together with fluorination product. Iodo acid such as m-iodo acid gave the salt and a trace quantity of dimerized product. Iodides such as m-iodotoluene and 1-amino-4-iodo-2-methyl benzene did not show any appreciable reactivity towards potassim fluoride. The reaction condition was described, and fluorination, ${\alpa}$-dehydrofluorination, decarboxylation, and dimerization were discussed.
A series of hydroxyl-derivatized quaternized polymers were successfully synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and Cu(I)-catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of azide and alkynes (click chemistry), followed by quaternization reactions. ATRP was employed to synthesize poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA), followed by introduction of alkyne groups using pentynoic acid, leading to HEMA-Alkyne. 2-Azido-1-ethanol and 3-azido-1-propanol were combined with the HEMA-Alkyne backbone via click reaction, resulting in triazole-ring containing hydroxyl-derivatized polymers. Quaternization reactions with methyl iodide were conducted on the triazole ring of each polymer. Molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, and the degree of quaternization (DQ) were determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and $^1H$ NMR spectroscopy. The average molecular weight ($M_n$) of the resulting polymers ranged from $5.9{\times}10^4$ to $1.05{\times}10^5g/mol$ depending on the molecular architecture. The molecular weight distribution was low ($M_w/M_n$ = 1.26-1.38). The transmission spectra of the 0.1 wt % aqueous solutions of the resulting quaternized polymers at 650 nm were measured as a function of temperature. Results showed that the upper critical solution temperature (UCST) could be finely controlled by the level of DQ.
1,2,3,4,5,6-Hexaalkyl-1,4-dibora-2-cyclohexene was not produced by the general preparation method in our laboratory because of difficulties in the preparation of $B_2Cl_4.$ 2,3-Dietyl-1,4,5,6-tetramethyl-1,4-dibora-2-cyclohexene, 2 was synthesized by the reduction-oxidation reaction of potassium and methyliodide from 1,4-dimethyl-2,3-diethyl-1,4-dibora-2-cyclohexene, 1 as a substrate. Cobalt sandwich-complexes, 6, 7 and 8 were synthesized by the reaction of 2,3-diethyl-1,4,5,6-tetramethyl-1,4-dibora-2-cyclohexene with $({\eta}5-C_5H_5Co(C_2H_4)_2.$.

Carbon-11 is one of the most sensitive and desirable positron emission tomography radio-isotope, which offers the capacity to be incorporated, through a covalent bond, into biologically active molecules without altering their biological properties. Carbon-11 can be obtained from the cyclotron with two different chemical forms: $[^{11}C]CO_2$ and $[^{11}C]CH_4$. [$^{11}C$]Methyl iodide has been widely used as a highly reactive labelling precursor that can be applied to label carbon-11 with biologically active molecules via alkylation of N-, O-, or S-nucleophiles. A more recent and still challenging labeling method is transition metal mediated $^{11}C$-carbonylation. Advances in organic chemistry, radiochemistry and improved automated techniques greatly encourage researchers to develop more carbon-11 labelled radiotracers for molecular imaging studies. This mini-review will introduce a historical track of carbon-11 chemistry combining with examples and its role in near future.
1,2-Disubstituted chiral calix[4]arene "25-(3,5-dinitrobenzoyloxy)-26-methoxy-27,28-dihydroxycalix[4]arene" was synthesized by the reaction of 25-(3,5-dinitrobenzoyloxy)-calix[4]arene with methyl iodide in the presence of K2CO3. Methylation was occurred at the 26-position of calix[4]arene. The partial cone conformation and 1,2-substitution were characterized based on the 1H NMR, 13C NMR and X-ray diffraction analysis. The crystal structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction method. The crystals are orthorhombic, Pbca, a=10.652(1), b=17.687(1), c=32.247(3) Å, Z=8, V=6075.4(9) Å3, Dc=1.38gcm-3. The intensity data were collected on an Enraf-Nonius CAD-4 Diffractometer with a graphite monochromated Cu-Kα radiation. The structure was solved by direct method and refined by full-matrix least-squares methods to a final R value of 0.050 for 2368 observed reflections. The molecule is in the partial cone conformation. It has two strong intramolecular hydrogen bonds of O(1D)-H…O(1C)-H…O(1B).
