  • We propose a rigorous and practical methodology to evaluate the performance of symbolic manipulation program such as Mathematica, Maple, and Maxima. First, we demonstrate an inverse method to construct the benchmark problems of an initial value problems. The benchmark problems associated with the discrete version of the Chebyshev polynomials provide a rigorous and objective measure to evaluate the performance of symbolic manipulation programs. We compare three symbolic manipulation programs, which are Mathematica, Maple and Maxima, using this methodology. The computation time, the used memory and the perturbation terms are chosen for comparison parameters.

  • Purpose: With the development of digital dental technology, we are manufacturing prosthetic crown in various ways. However, the wax-up method that makes existing prosthetic crown is also used steadily. Thus, we will compare the shape of the crown designed with wax-up and the crown designed with CAD. Methods: Sculpt the crown with wax-up on the model to 10 dental technicians. The same model was used to design the crown CAD. Measure the size of the sculpted crown. The shapes were compared in three dimensions. Results: As a result, we could observe a difference in size and shape in crown designed with wax - up crown and crown. Conclusion: These results suggest that there are differences according to the method of carving crown and the method of processing.

  • In this paper, several experiments are performed according to deep neural network (DNN) based features for the performance comparison of speaker verification (SV) systems. To this end, input features for a DNN, such as mel-frequency cepstral coefficient (MFCC), linear-frequency cepstral coefficient (LFCC), and perceptual linear prediction (PLP), are first compared in a view of the SV performance. After that, the effect of a DNN training method and a structure of hidden layers of DNNs on the SV performance is investigated depending on the type of features. The performance of an SV system is then evaluated on the basis of I-vector or probabilistic linear discriminant analysis (PLDA) scoring method. It is shown from SV experiments that a tandem feature of DNN bottleneck feature and MFCC feature gives the best performance when DNNs are configured using a rectangular type of hidden layers and trained with a supervised training method.

  • Power qualify monitoring system is devoted to more concern than before, because the innovation of industrial technology needs more accurate instruments and more advanced power quality. This paper was studied on using data of the protective relay by Power Quality Monitor. This paper was proposed the wave storage condition and monitoring clauses of the protective relay as a power quality monitoring device. The protective relay will have problem to save data for PQM analysis because the protective relay memory is limited. Therefore this paper was proposed new a data compression of data got from the protective relay. This method is wave compression comparison algorithm using the DFT. The compression rate is higher than any other established method. This method can be real time storage. This algorithm is verified using the comparison among other compression rate and proved by Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS).

  • In this paper, we first provide comparison results of preconditioned AOR methods with direct preconditioners $I+{\beta}L$, $I+{\beta}U$ and $I+{\beta}(L+U)$ for solving a linear system whose coefficient matrix is a large sparse irreducible L-matrix, where ${\beta}$ > 0. Next we propose how to find a near optimal parameter ${\beta}$ for which Krylov subspace method with these direct preconditioners performs nearly best. Lastly numerical experiments are provided to compare the performance of preconditioned iterative methods and to illustrate the theoretical results.

  • An important factor of rough road modeling is analyzing the shear behavior properties of the rough road. These properties influence the drawbar pull of the tool when interacting with the soil used in agriculture. Furthermore, shear behavior properties are important because sinkage and shear stress are generated when wheels drive on rough roads. In this study, we performed a direct shear test to investigate the shear behavior properties of soils and compare with the direct shear simulation; shear force derived by the coupled analysis of discrete element method; and multi-body dynamics. Soil contact parameters were measured in a wheel and soil contact simulation followed by comparison of the simulated and experimentally measured shear force.

  • The diagnosis of canine diabetes mellitus is generally made by measuring serum fructosamine levels. The Rosental's end points Tas and El Din's kinetic, and Johnson and colleagues'kinetic techiniques were compared for the measuring serum fructosamine levels. In the Rosental's end point methods within-run and between-run coefficient of variability (CV) were 2.4-3.5% and 6.8-8.5%, respectively, and in the Tas and El Din's kinetic method, within-run and between-run CV were 1.3-3.0% and 3.4-3.9%, respectively. In the Johnson and colleagues'kinetic methods within-run and between-run CV were 0-1.8% and 3.1-6.8%1 ruts- pectively. Hyperlipidemia induced by oral administration of 3 ml of corn oil per kilogram body weight did not affect serum fructosamine concentration significantly in the Johnson and colleagues' kinetic method Johnson and colleagues'kinetic method is most reliable and consistant on the basis of comparison study.

  • The daily soil water contents were obtained from the time domain reflectometry(TDR) method and energy balance-water budget approach with eddy correlation at the two small semiarid watersheds of Lucky Hills and Kendall during the summer rainy period. There was a comaprison of daily soil water content measured and estimated from these two different approaches. The comparison is valuable to evaluate the accuracy of current soil water content measuring system using TDR and energy balance-water budget approach using eddy correlation method at a small watershed scale. The degree of simiarity between the regressions of these two methods of measuring soil water content was explained by determining the correlations between these methods. Simple linear regression analyses showed that soil water content measured from TDR method was responsible for 58% and 63% of the variations estimated from energy balance-water budget approach with edy correlation at Lucky Hills and Kendall, respectively. The scatter plots and the regression analyses revealed that two different approaches for soil water content measurement at a small watershed scale have no significant difference.

  • In this study, several basic data for road design and GIS data were used for selecting the optimized road alignment database system. The cut and fill volumes were compared with existing manual road design method through the analysis and data application in this database system. We solved and estimated objective, economic, environmental and technical problems caused in road construction comparing existing manual method with the road alignment which was selected in GIS automatically. Also, we performed three dimensional simulation with the existing road design program and simulation of virtual reality through Virtual GIS. This study showed the method in selecting the optimized road alignment through the analysis and comparison of the selected road alignment. The goal of this study is comparison and analysis of definite cut and fill volume and environmental problem after the road construction through analyzing and comparing the social, economic, technical and environmental aspect in the road alignments with various statistic data.
