  • There are three kinds of algorithms(2-ARE, mu-synthesis, LMI) for controller design using closed-loop shaping method. This paper provides the summary of background theory of three algorithms and $H_{\infty}$ controller design results for spacecraft attitude control using the three controller design tools of Matlab$^{TM}$ Toolbox for comparison. As a result, it reveals that LMI design method is more reliable as well as easier than others for spacecraft attitude control design. Comparison results are as follow: 2-ARE method and LMI method provide almost same results in robust stability, robust performance and control authority level. But 2-ARE method is more sensitive than LMI method with respect to proper design of weighting functions: 2-ARE method is more difficult than LMI method in weighting function design. The design result of mu-synthesis method shows worse performance and requires bigger control authority than others.

  • Comparison between two or more fuzzy numbers, along with their ranking, is an important subject discussed in scholarly articles. We endeavor in this paper to present a simple yet effective parametric method for comparing fuzzy numbers. This method offer significant advantages over similar methods, in comparing intersected fuzzy numbers, rendering the comparison between fuzzy numbers possible in different decision levels. In the process, each fuzzy number will be given a parametric value in terms of $\alpha$, which is dependent on the related $\alpha$-cuts. We have compared this method to Cheng's centroid point method [5] (The relation of calculating centroid point of a fuzzy number was corrected later on by Wang [12]). The proposed method can be utilized for all types of fuzzy numbers whether normal, abnormal or negative.

  • This paper deals with a comparison of individual and common grounding method for potential rise. When a test current flowed through grounding electrode, potential rise was measured and analyzed for grounding method using a electrolytic tank in real time. The grounding electrodes were designed and fabricated with ground rods on a scale of one-eightieth. Potential rises of individual grounding method were higher than those of common grounding method. The distributions of surface potential are dependent on the distance from grounding electrode.

  • This article introduces technique to reduce harmonic by using the $5^{th}$ and $7^{th}$ harmonic tune filter and line reactor in the comparison to the technique of intervening firing method at the pulse of the 6-pulse phase-controlled converter in every 1/6 period. The design of the technique introduced in this article is to reduce the harmonic distortion of the current and the voltage resulted from three-phase thyristor phase-controlled converter. The waveform obtained from the experiment was analyzed on the spectrum of the current, voltage and the total harmonic distortion. The double firing method causes zero vectors of output voltage and input current. Designing the mechanism of the converter based on the idea of Park Vector Theory, the number of harmonic distortion in the intervening firing method were compared to those in normal firing method.

  • A band function model paired comparison(BMPC) method is a kind of paired comparison methods. Considering that human has ambiguity, the BMPC method uses a monotonous increase function with the width as the human judgment characteristic. Since panel´s judgments do not always have enough response, it is very important to examine inspection abilities of each panel. In this study. We focus on the difference of band functions in each panel, which is the characteristic function of judgment in the BMPC method, and examine the method of obtaining panels inspection abilities. Three kinds of evaluation functions, "the dispersion of judgments", "the resolution", and "the difference of the judgments" are defined from Panel´s characteristic function of ...

  • This paper improves Sherman's two-pulse method for angle estimation of two unresolved targets in phase comparison monopulse radar. The proposed method provides the angle information with only a single-pulse measurement instead of two pulses. The proposed method can estimate a single-target angle by single-target indicator, in contrast with previous techniques. The accuracy of angle estimation for proposed method is demonstrated by simulations.

  • Regarding to multiple comparison problem (MCP) of k normal population variances, we suggest a Bayesian method for calculating posterior probabilities for various hypotheses of equality among population variances. This leads to a simple method for obtaining pairwise comparisons of variances in a statistical experiment with a partition on the parameter space induced by equality and inequality relationships among the variances. The method is derived from the fact that certain features of the hierarchical nonparametric family of Dirichlet process priors, in general, make it amenable to solving the MCP and estimating the posterior probabilities by means of posterior simulation, the Gibbs sampling. Two examples are illustrated for the method. For these examples, the method is straightforward for specifying distributionally and to implement computationally, with output readily adapted for required comparison.

  • It is well known that Statistical Energy Analysis(SEA) is one of very attractive analytical methods to solve shipboard noise problems. With reasonable successes, many applications of SEA to shipboard noise prediction have been reported. However when one wishes to obtain theoretical predictions by using SEA in practical systems, he will find difficulty in modeling of source systems, that is, foundations where to place main engine, generator, compressor, and so on. Also, he will find that it is hard to determine the amount of power flow from machinery to structures. In this paper, SEA of a simple foundation model was carried out using the estimated amount of power flow from source; the estimated mobility method. The comparison between the estimated and measured results is presented. That comparison shows a method to get structure-borne noise power from the combination of machinery and foundation. This prediction method gave a good results for a air-compressor mounted on a model foundation. The method is expected to give a reasonable power output in practical problems.

  • This paper proposes a new PWM method to reduce the common mode voltage change in three-level Vienna rectifier. This new proposed PWM method uses medium voltage vector for the three-level Vienna rectifier to determine the sum of three-phase voltage zero, and the common mode voltage variation is decreased. Using the carrier comparison method, the switching function generator for three-level Vienna rectifier has been proposed. The effects of the proposed PWM method have been verified through simulation using the PSIM.

  • There have been various studies in Korea to develop a %IMF(Intramuscular Fat Percentage) estimation method suitable for Hanwoo. Recently, a %IMF estimation method using a convolutional neural network (CNN), a kind of deep learning method among artificial intelligence methods, has been studied. In this study, we performed a performance comparison when various preprocessing methods were applied to the %IMF estimation of ultrasound images using CNN as mentioned above. The preprocessing methods used in this study are normalization, histogram equalization, edge enhancement, and a method combining normalization and edge enhancement. When estimating the %IMF of Hanwoo by the conventional method that did not apply preprocessing in the experiment, the accuracy was 98.2%. The other hand, we found that the accuracy improved to 99.5% when using preprocessing with histogram equalization alone or combined regularization and edge enhancement.
