단락 개방간극 링 구조와 인터디지틀 선로의 결합형 소형 초광대역 여파기 설계 (Design of the Miniaturized Ultra-WideBand(UWB) Filter of the Shorted Open Gap Ring Structure combined with the interdigital Line)

  • This paper presents the filter of a resonator comprising a shorted open gap ring(SOGR) and interdigital lines. The proposed filter has the ultra wideband characteristic operating from 3 GHz to 10.5 GHz. In order to achieve the remarkable improvement in the size-reduction of the overall filter structure, only one cell of the SOGR with the inter-digital lines is adopted. It is shown that this filter has the size of $18mm{\times}15mm$ using a metamaterial, the fractional bandwidth over 100%, the insertion loss much less than 1dB, an acceptable return loss performance in the results.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 Right/left-handed 전송선(RLH-TL)에 집중 직렬 캐패시터와 병렬 인덕터 구현으로 발생하는 방사 효과를 포함하여 단위 셀을 모델링한다. 방사 효과가 고려된 RLH-TL 단위셀의 등가 회로를 제공하고 갭 커패시터와 션트 인터터에서의 방사율에 따른 Bloch 임피던스와 복소 전파상수를 해석한다. 두 개의 방사율이 같을 때 RLH-TL의 Block 임피던스는 RH-TL의 특성임피던스와 같아짐을 보인다. 게다가, 주어진 주파수에서 특정한 위상 변화를 위한 단위 셀의 설계 공식을 유도하여 제공한다. 마지막으로, 안테나 응용을 위해 RLH-TL에서 다양한 방법으로 방사효과를 control할 수 있는 설계 공식을 제공한다.

  • 테라헤르츠 영역에서 MIM(Metal - Insulator - Metal) 도파관이 주기적으로 배열되어 있는 경우, 도파관 두께의 변화에 따른 전자파의 투과 특성은 널리 연구되지 않았다. 본 논문에서는 금속이 금으로 구성된 주기 구조의 경우 MIM 도파관에 수직으로 입사하는 수평 편파에 의한 전자파의 투과 특성을 다양한 테라헤르츠 주파수 영역에서 확인하고, 그 결과를 분석하고자 한다. 또한 완전 도체의 경우와 비교해 봄으로써 그 차이점을 확인한다.

8×8 위상배열안테나를 이용한 위치추적 시스템 (Localization of Human Motion Using a 8×8 Phased Array Antenna)

  • In this paper, a Doppler radar for a localization of a human motion is demonstrated. In the system, we used a $8{\times}8$ phased array antenna using metamaterial phase shifters for easy and precise control of antenna beam pattern. Scanning area is a circular sector with an inscribed angle of $60^{\circ}$ and a diameter of 45m. This area is divided with 15 designated area and each area is scanned for 0.2 second. When there is a motion in a designated area, we are able to detect a frequency shift due to a Doppler effect. In this way it is possible to detect the location of motion. The experiment shows that 78% of position accuracy. The remaining 22% occurred the surroundings of the designated area.

L대역 불요파 저감을 위한, UHF대역 CRLH 대역통과 여파기와 소형 대역저지 여파기의 결합 설계 (Design of a Compact Bandstop Filter-combined UHF-band CRLH Bandpass Filter to Suppress the Spurious in L-band)

  • In this paper, we propose a way to improve the quality of L-band wireless communication from unfriendly influential factors lying in the neighboring RF bands. The UHF-band system has resonator components and they generate harmonics as the spurious in the L-band. Therefore, a metamaterial CRLH bandpass filter is designed for the purpose of system miniaturization and smaller insertion loss, and its spurious phenomenon is observed in the frequency domain. And its harmonics in the L-band are suppressed by a compact bandstop filter whose equivalent circuit is newly developed. The design methodology is validated by the equivalent circuit to be compared with commercial full-wave EM software simulations, where the spurious is dropped by 20dB. Also, the advantage of the proposed design is presented by the comparison where our filter is much smaller than the conventional parallel edge coupled filter by over 50%, with excellent harmonic suppression.

모드정합법을 이용한 평면형 전자파 흡수체 해석 (Analysis of the Planar Electromagnetic Wave Absorber Using the Mode Matching Technique)

  • 본 논문에서는 모드정합법을 이용하여 평면형 전자파 흡수체의 성능을 분석한다. 제안된 전자파 흡수체는 완전도체와 자성체가 주기구조를 이루고 있으며, 평행 편파 입사파가 인가되는 조건에서 평판의 두께에 따른 투과 및 반사 전력을 계산한다. 제안된 전자파 흡수체의 경우, 특정 구조에서 자성체가 아닌 진공으로 구성된 주기적인 평판 슬릿 또는 자성체 단독으로만 존재하는 경우에 비해 높은 흡수율을 가지는 것을 확인하였다. 전체적인 흡수 및 투과 특성의 수치해석 결과는 상용 시뮬레이터와의 비교를 통해 검증하였다.

레이돔 표면에 금속 나노코팅을 적용한 적외선 저피탐 성능특성 연구 (Analysis on Infrared Stealth Performance of Metal Nano-coating on Radome Surface)

  • Infrared stealth technology used in aircraft is applied to reduce the infrared signal by controlling surface temperature and emissivity using internal heat sink, low emissivity material or metamaterial. However, there is one part of the aircraft where the use of this technology is limited, and that is the radome. Especially, radome should have transmittance for the specific radio frequency, therefore, common stealth technology such as emissivity control surfaces cannot be applied to radome surface. In this study, we developed metal nano-coating for infrared stealth which is applicable to radome surface. We designed slot-type pattern for frequency selective transmission in X-band, and also controlled thickness of metal nano-coating for long wavelength infrared emissivity control. As a result, our infrared stealth surface for radome has 93.2 % transmittance in X-band and various infrared emissivities from 0.17 to 0.57 according to nano-coatings thickness. Also, we analyzed infrared signature of radome through numerical simulation, and finally reduced contrast radiant intensity by 97.57 % compared to polyurethane surface.

Nonlinear static analysis of composite cylinders with metamaterial core layer, adjustable Poisson's ratio, and non-uniform thickness

  • In this article, an analytical procedure is presented for static analysis of composite cylinders with the geometrically nonlinear behavior, and non-uniform thickness profiles under different loading conditions by considering moderately large deformation. The composite cylinder includes two inner and outer isotropic layers and one honeycomb core layer with adjustable Poisson's ratio. The Mirsky-Herman theory in conjunction with the von-Karman nonlinear theory is employed to extract the governing equations which are a system of nonlinear differential equations with variable coefficients. The governing equations are solved analytically using the matched asymptotic expansion (MAE) method of the perturbation technique and the effects of moderately large deformations are studied. The presented method obtains the results with fast convergence and high accuracy even in the regions near the boundaries. Highlights: • An analytical procedure based on the matched asymptotic expansion method is proposed for the static nonlinear analysis of composite cylindrical shells with a honeycomb core layer and non-uniform thickness. • The effect of moderately large deformation has been considered in the kinematic relations by assuming the nonlinear von Karman theory. • By conducting a parametric study, the effect of the honeycomb structure on the results is studied. • By adjusting the Poisson ratio, the effect of auxetic behavior on the nonlinear results is investigated.

Passive seismic protection systems with mechanical metamaterials: A current review

  • In this work, a review of mechanical metamaterials and seismic protection systems that use them is carried out, focusing on passive protection systems. During the last years, a wide variety of classical systems of seismic protection have demonstrated to be an effective and practical way of reducing the seismic vulnerability of buildings, maintaining their health and structural integrity. However, with the emergence of metamaterials, which allow obtaining uncommon mechanical properties, new procedures and devices with high performance have been developed, reducing the seismic risk through novel approaches such as: seismic shields and the redirection of seismic waves; the use of stop band gaps and the construction of buried mass resonators; the design of pentamodal base isolators. These ideas are impacting traditional areas of structural engineering such as the design and building of highly efficient base isolation systems. In this work, recent advances in new seismic protection technologies and researches that integrate mechanical metamaterials are presented. A complete bibliometric analysis was carried out to identify and classify relevant authors and works related with passive seismic protection system based on mechanical metamaterial (pSPSmMMs). Finally, possible future scenarios for study and development of seismic isolators based on mechanical metamaterials are shown, identifying the relevant topics that have not yet been explored, as well as those with the greatest potential for future application.

무선 에너지 전송을 위한 Class-E 전력증폭기 설계 (Design of Class-E Power Amplifier for Wireless Energy Transfer)

  • 본 논문에서는 메타구조를 이용하여 하나의 RF LDMOS로 새로운 Class-E 전력증폭기를 구현하였다. CRLH 구조는 Class-E 전력증폭기 특성을 갖는 메타물질 전송 선로를 만들 수 있다. CRLH 전송 선로는 전력증폭기의 정합 회로를 구현을 위하여 주파수 오프셋과 CRLH 전송 선로의 비선형 위상 기울기에 의해 얻을 수 있다. 또한, 제안된 전력증폭기의 효율을 향상 시키기 위하여 출력 정합 회로에 CRLH 구조를 이용하여 구현하였다. 동작 주파수는 13.56MHz로 정하였다. Class-E 전력 증폭기의 측정된 출력 전력은 39.83dBm, 이득은 11.83 dB이다. 이 지점에서 얻은 전력효율(PAE)은 73%이다.
