The stability of prickly pear color as affected by pH, metal ions, sugar and acids was studied. The color of prickly pear was most stable at pH 4 and 5. Metal ions (Fe, Cu) at a level of 100 ppm caused a decrease in stability compared to that of the control, whereas pigment of prickly pear was stable at 100 ppm of Sn ion And the color of prickly pear was stable at 0.15 M fructose. Both 100 and 500 ppm ascorbic acid had the greatest effect on stability, while citric acid, phosphoric acid and tartaric acid had no effect on stability compared to that of the control. Based on the data presented, it was concluded that under selected conditions prickly pear pigment should find application as natural food colorants.
The behavior of building industry metal sheeting under shear forces has been extensively studied and equations have been developed to predict its shear stiffness. Building design engineers can make use of these equations to design a metal deck form bracing system. Bridge metal deck forms differ from building industry forms by both shape and connection detail. These two factors have implications for using these equations to predict the shear stiffness of deck form systems used in the bridge industry. The conventional eccentric connection of bridge metal deck forms reduces their shear stiffness dramatically. However, recent studies have shown that a simple modification to the connection detail can significantly increase the shear stiffness of bridge metal deck form panels. To the best of the author's knowledge currently there is not a design aid that can be used by bridge engineers to estimate the stiffness of bridge metal deck forms. Therefore, bridge engineers rely on previous test results to predict the stiffness of bridge metal deck forms in bracing applications. In an effort to provide a design aid for bridge design engineers to rely on bridge metal deck forms as a bracing source during construction, cantilever shear frame test results of bridge metal deck forms with and without edge stiffened panels have been compared with the SDI Diaphragm Design Manual and ECCS Diaphragm Stressed Skin Design Manual stiffness expressions used for building industry deck forms. The bridge metal deck form systems utilized in the tests consisted of sheets with thicknesses of 0.75 mm to 1.90 mm, heights of 50 mm to 75 mm and lengths of up to 2.7 m; which are representative of bridge metal deck forms frequently employed in steel bridge constructions. The results indicate that expressions provided in these manuals to predict the shear stiffness of building metal deck form panels can be used to estimate the shear stiffness of bridge metal deck form bracing systems with certain limitations. The SDI Diaphragm Design Manual expressions result in reasonable estimates for sheet thicknesses of 0.75 mm, 0.91 mm, and 1.21 mm and underestimate the shear stiffness of 1.52 and 1.90 mm thick bridge metal deck forms. Whereas, the ECCS Diaphragm Stressed Skin Design Manual expressions significantly underestimate the shear stiffness of bridge metal deck form systems for above mentioned deck thicknesses.

Three kinds of metallic sandwich panels with quasi-Kagome truss cores have been analyzed on their mechanical behaviors subjected to bending load. According to the results of previous work on the optimal design, they were designed to have similarly high strength per weight with the identical overall sizes, i.e., the total length, the width, the core height. Differences were in the face sheet thickness and/or the thickness of the metal sheet from which the core was fabricated through expanding and bending processes. Under the bending load, they performed well as designed, as far as the maximum load is concerned. However, after the maximum load, the load-displacement curves were different each other depending on the slenderness ratio of the truss elements composing the quasi-Kagome truss cores and the face sheet thickness. Namely, the slenderness ratio and the face sheet thickness governed stability of the elastic and plastic buckling. Therefore, if energy absorption characteristics or structural stability as well as the maximum load capacity are to be achieved, the sandwich panel with thick truss members and thick face sheet should be selected.
Tyrosinase is a widespread enzyme with great promising capabilities. The Lineweaver-Burk plots of the catecholase reactions showed that the kinetics of mushroom tyrosinase (MT), activated by $Co^{2+}$ and $Zn^{2+}$ at different pHs (6, 7, 8 and 9) obeyed the non-essential activation mode. The binding of metal ions to the enzyme increases the maximum velocity of the enzyme due to an increase in the enzyme catalytic constant ($k_{cat}$). From the kinetic analysis, dissociation constants of the activator from the enzyme-metal ion complex ($K_a$) were obtained as $5{\times}10^4M^{-1}$ and $8.33{\times}10^3M^{-1}$ for $Co^{2+}$ and $Zn^{2+}$ at pH 9 and 6 respectively. The structural analysis of MT through circular dichroism (CD) and intensive fluorescence spectra revealed that the conformational stability of the enzyme in these pHs reaches its maximum value in the presence of each of the two metal ions.

By changing the excess air ratio which affects strongly to the combustion characteristics, the flame stability range in the metal fiber burner were found and the range of the blue flame male and radiant mode were distinguished by direct photography. The results in our experiments for the flame stability zone were from a=1.4($354 KW/m^2$) to a=2.06($240 KW/m^2$), and then the blue flame mode zone was form a=1.87($266 KW/m^2$) to a=2.06($240 KW/m^2$) and the radiant mode one was form a=1.4($354 KW/m^2$) to a =1.78($278 KW/m^2$). And the flame was not fired when a is less than the lean condition a=2.45($202 KW/m^2$).
High-efficiency silicon solar cells have potential applications on mobile electronics and electrical vehicles. The fabrication processes of the high efficiency cells necessitate com placated fabrication precesses and expensive materials. Ti/Pd/Ag metal contact has been used only for limited area In spite of good stability and low contact resistance because of Its expensive material cost and precesses. Screen printed contact formed by Ag paste causes a low fill factor and a high shading loss of commercial solar cells because of high contact resistance and a low aspect ratio. Low cost Ni/Cu metal contact has been formed by using a low cost electroless and electroplating. Nickel silicide formation at the interface enhances stability and reduces the contact resistance resulting In an energy conversion efficiency of $20.2\%\;on\;0.50{\Omega}cm$ FZ wafer. Tapered contact structure has been applied to large area solar cells with $6.7\times6.7cm^2$ in order to reduce power losses by the front contact The tapered front metal contact Is easily formed by the electroplating technique producing $45cm^2$ solar cells with an efficiency of $21.4\%$ on $21.4\%\;on\;2{\Omega}cm$ FZ wafer.

The effects of pH and temperature on the degradation of prokidn in various buffered aqueous solutions(pH 1.32~9.66) and temperatures (35, 45 and 6$0^{\circ}C$ were investigated. The effect of ionic strength on the degradation of prokidin was also measured by varying ionic strength (0.0466~1.5) at pH 1.35 and 45$^{\circ}C$ The effect of metal ions on the degradation of prokidin at pH 7.35 and 3.98 was observed. The degradation of prokidin followed the pseudo- first- order kinetics. The degradation rate of prokidin showed pH-dependent and temperature-dependent patterns. Prokidin was very stable at the pH below 3.95, where half-lives at 35, 45 and 6$0^{\circ}C$were 294, 206 and 107 day, respectively. However, it degraded very rapidly at pH above 6.49; the half-lives at 35, 45 and 6$0^{\circ}C$were 60, 25 and 13 day, respectively. As ionic strength increased, the degradation rate of prokidin increased. Some metal ions increased the degradation rate in the rank order of Mn > Fe > Cu >Fe On the other hand. other metal ions such as Bi, Ba. Zn, Ni, Co did not show unfavorable effect.
When ceramic membrance was made from metal salt solution in place of metal akoxide solution, crack free and good adhesion to supporter was optimized for sol stability and good adhesion force. A starting sol was prepared from aluminum oxychloride aqueous solutjion in order to inhibit the grain growthof Al2O3 during heat treatment. The crack free dip coating can't be achieved in 1mol/ι zirconium oxychloride solution because of the high viscosity which interferes with the hydration copolymerization between Al3+ ion and Zr4+ ion. Thus Al2O3-ZrO2 sol stability and viscosity for dip coating was effective when 0.01 mol/ι zirconium oxychloride was added. The minimizing of crack and achieving better adhesion to the supporter wa obtained by microwave drying, surfactant addition and ultrasonic dip coating in wet atmosphere. The result seems to minimize the capillary force and improve the adhesive ability to supporter during the process. Where the average pore size of Al2O3-ZrO2 ultrafilter ceramic membrane measured 17 Å by the BET method and observed γ-Al2O3 phase with tetragonal zirconia after firing at 700℃.
Based on the sheath-core bicomponent composite fibers with modified polystyrene (PS) and the modified polypropylene (PP), composite fibers obtained were further cross-linked and sulphonated with chlorosulphonic acid to produce strong acidic cation ion exchange fibers. The structures of the fibers obtained were characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) etc. The optimal technology of the fibers obtained is discussed. The static absorption capacity of the sheath-core bicomponent composite cation exchange fibers for $Zn^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$ was determined. The absorption kinetics and major factors affecting the absorption capacities of $Zn^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$ were studied, and its chemical stability and regenerating properties were probed. The results suggest that cation exchange fibers with better mechanical properties and higher exchange capability were obtained. Moreover, this type of ion exchange fiber has good absorption properties and working stability to various metal ions. Hence, they have higher practicability.
The lattice oxygen mechanism (LOM) is considered one of the promising approaches to overcome the sluggish oxygen evolution reaction (OER), bypassing -OOH* coordination with a high energetic barrier. Activated lattice oxygen can participate in the OER as a reactant and enables O*-O* coupling for direct O2 formation. However, such reaction kinetics inevitably include the generation of oxygen vacancies, which leads to structural degradation, and eventually shortens the lifetime of catalysts. Here, we demonstrate that Se incorporation significantly enhances OER performance and the stability of NiFe (oxy)hydroxide (NiFe) which follows the LOM pathway. In Se introduced NiFe (NiFeSe), Se forms not only metal-Se bonding but also Se-oxygen bonding by replacing oxygen sites and metal sites, respectively. As a result, transition metals show reduced valence states while oxygen shows less reduced valence states (O-/O22-) which is a clear evidence of lattice oxygen activation. By virtue of its electronic structure modulation, NiFeSe shows enhanced OER activity and long-term stability with robust active lattice oxygen compared to NiFe.
