  • We have studied the reduction of NO by propane over perovskite-type oxides prepared by malic acid method. The catalysts were modified to enhance the activity by substitution by substitution of metal into A or B site of perovskite oxides. In addition, the reaction conditions, such as temperature, $O_2$ concentration, space velocity have been studed. In the $LaCoO_3$ type catalyst, the partial substitution of Ba, Sr into A site enhanced the catalytic activity in the reduction of NO. In the $La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{1-x}Fe_xO_3(x=0 \sim 1.9)$ catalyst, the partial substitution of Fe into B site enhanced the conversion of NO, but excess amount of Fe decreased the conversion of NO. The surface area and catalytic activity of perovskite catalysts prepared by malic acid method showed higher values than those of solid reaction method. In the $La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{1-x}Fe_xO_3$ catalyst, the conversion of NO increased with increasing $O_2$ concentration and contact time. The introduction of water into reactant feed decreased the catalytic activity.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to analysis the composition on the centrifugal casting and the oxide on the casting temperature. Methods: The nickel based alloy were used in this study. Wax pattern specimens (10*10*2) were invested with phosphate-bonded investment in metal rings, the liquid/powder ratio and overall burn-out schedules for these investments were followed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. After casting, the alloy specimens were evaluated as regards composition(EPMA). The casting temperatures were as follows: $1400^{\circ}C$ and $1700^{\circ}C$. The quantitative analysis of oxides were scanning electron microscope(SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS) and line scanning. Results: Nearer the injection lines showed that there is a large amount of nickel. Quantitative of oxides of Ni-Cr alloy cast from $1400^{\circ}C$ is lager than Ni-Cr alloy cast from $1700^{\circ}C$. Conclusion: Casting when using a centrifugal casting machine centrifugal force affects the composition of the alloy. The higher the temperature, the amount of oxide that is generated many.

  • A protective oxide layer forms on the material surfaces of a Nuclear Power Plant during operation due to high temperature. These oxides can host radionuclides, the activated corrosion products of fission products, resulting in decommissioning workers' exposure. These deposited oxides are iron oxides such as Fe3O4, Fe2O3 and mixed ferrites such as nickel ferrites, chromium ferrites, and cobalt ferrites. Developing a new chemical decontamination technology for domestic CANDU-type reactors is challenging due to variations in oxide compositions from different structural materials in a Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) system. The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) has already developed a chemical decontamination process for PWRs called 'HyBRID' (Hydrazine-Based Reductive metal Ion Decontamination) that does not use organic acids or organic chelating agents at all. As the first step to developing a new chemical decontamination technology for the Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) system, we investigated magnetite dissolution behaviors in various HyBRID inorganic acidic solutions to assess their applicability to the PHWR reactor system, which forms a thicker oxide film.

  • 70 ${\AA}$-thick oxides nitridied at various conditions were reoxidized at pemperatures of 900$^{\circ}C$ in dry-O$_2$ ambients for 5~40 mininutes. The gate oxide interface porperties as well as the oxide substrate interface properties of MOS(Metal Oxide Semiconductor) capacitors with various nitridation conditions, reoxidation conditions and pure oxidation condition were investigated. We stuided I$\sub$g/-V$\sub$g/ characteristics, $\Delta$V$\sub$g/ shift under constant current stress from electrical characteristics point of view and breakdown voltage from leakage current point of view of MOS capacitors with SiO$_2$, NO, RNO dielectrics. Overall, our experimental results show that reoxidized nitrided oxides show inproved charge trapping porperites, I$\sub$g/-V$\sub$g/ characteristics and gate $\Delta$V$\sub$g/ shift. It has also been shown that reoxidized nitridied oxide's leakage currented voltage is better than pure oxide's or nitrided oxide's from leakage current(1${\mu}$A) point of view.

  • Transparent oxide semiconductors (TOSs) are. currently attracting attention for application to transparent electrodes in optoelectronic devices and active channel layers in thin-film transistors. One of the key issues for the realization of next generation transparent electronic devices such as transparent complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor thin-film transistors (CMOS TFTs), transparent wall light, sensors, and transparent solar cell is to develop p-type TOSs. In this talks, I will introduce issues and status related to p-type TOSs such as LnCuOQ (Ln=lanthanide, Q=S, Se), $SrCu_2O_2$, $CuMO_2$ (M=Al, Ga, Cr, In), ZnO, $Cu_2O$ and SnO. The growth and properties of SnO and Cu-based oxides and their application to electronic devices will be discussed.

  • Phase mixtures of Titanium boride, nitride, and carbide powder were produced by the reduction of a mixture of titanium and boron oxides with carbon via a gas-solid phase reaction. Boron oxides produce a vapour phase or decompose to a metal sub-oxide gaseous species when reduced at elevated temperature. The mechanism of BO sub-oxide gas formation from $B_2O_3$ and its subsequent reduction to titanium diboride for the production of uniform size hexagonal platelets is explained. These gaseous phases are critical for the formation of boride, nitride and carbide ceramics. For the production of ceramic phase composite microstructures, the nitrogen partial pressure was the most critical factor. Some calculated equilibrium phase fields has been verified experimentally. The theoretical approach therefore identifies conditions for the formation of phase mixtures. The thermodynamic and kinetic factors that govern the phase constituents are also discussed.

  • Single phase ruthenium oxides with perovskite (ATi1-xRuxO3 (A=Ca, Sr)) and pyrochlore structure (Bi2Ru2O7, Pb2Ru2O6.5) have been prepared reproducibly by solid state reaction methods and their electrocatalytic activities for oxygen evolution have been examined by Tafel plots. Tafel slopes vary from a low value of 42 mV/decade up to 222 mV/decade at room temperature. The high exchange current densities and high Tafel slopes compared with those obtained from the RuO2 DSA electrode at the crystalline single phase metal oxide electrodes suggest that they are better electrocatalysts at low overpotentials. A favorable change in the Tafel slope for the oxygen evolution reaction occurs as the ruthenium content increases. Substitution of Ti for Ru in the perovskite solid solutions enhanced their chemical stability by losing marginal electrochemical activity.

  • In this study, lenses are fabricated using various nanomaterials as additives to a silicone polymer made with an optimum mixing ratio and short polymerization time. In addition, PVP is added at a ratio of 1 % to investigate the physical properties according to the degree of dispersion, and the compatibility with hydrophobic silicone and the possibility of application as a functional lens material are confirmed. The main materials are SIU as a silicone monomer, DMA, a hydrophilic copolymer, EGDMA as a crosslinking agent, and 2H2M as a photoinitiator. Holmium (III) oxide, Europium (III) oxide, aluminum oxide, and PVP are used. When Holmium (III) oxide and Europium (III) oxide are added based on the Ref sample, the characteristics of the lens tend to be similar overall, and the aluminum oxide shows a tendency slightly different from the previous two oxides. This material can be used as a silicone lens material with various nano oxides and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) acting as a dispersant.

  • Gas sensors based on metal oxide semiconductors are used in numerous applications including monitoring indoor air quality and detecting harmful substances like volatile organic compounds. Nanostructures, for example, nanoparticles, nanotubes, nanodomes, and nanofibers have been widely utilized to improve gas sensing properties of metal oxide semiconductors, and this increases the effective surface area, resulting in participation of more target gas molecules in the surface reaction. In the recent times, 1-dimensional (1D) metal oxide nanostructures fabricated using anodic oxidation have attracted great attention due to their high surface-to-volume ratio with large-area uniformity, reproducibility, and capability of synthesis under ambient air and pressure, leading to cost-effectiveness. Here, we provide a brief overview of 1D metal oxide nanostructures fabricated by anodic oxidation and their gas sensing properties. In addition, recent progress on thin film-based anodic oxidation for application in gas sensors is introduced.

  • Increasing demand for portable and wireless electronic devices with high power and energy densities has inspired global research to investigate, in lieu of scarce rare-earth and expensive ruthenium oxide-like materials, abundant, cheap, easily producible, and chemically stable electrode materials. Several potential electrode materials, including carbon-based materials, metal oxides, metal chalcogenides, layered metal double hydroxides, metal nitrides, metal phosphides, and metal chlorides with above requirements, have been effectively and efficiently applied in electrochemical supercapacitor energy storage devices. The synthesis of self-grown, or in-situ, nanostructured electrode materials using chemical processes is well-known, wherein the base material itself produces the required phase of the product with a unique morphology, high surface area, and moderate electrical conductivity. This comprehensive review provides in-depth information on the use of self-grown electrode materials of different morphologies in electrochemical supercapacitor applications. The present limitations and future prospects, from an industrial application perspectives, of self-grown electrode materials in enhancing energy storage capacity are briefly elaborated.
