The a-Si:H/poly-Si Heterojunction Solar Cells

  • We present heterojunction solar cells with a structure of metal/a-Si:H(n-i-p)/poly-Si(n-p)/metal for the terrestrial applications. This cell consists fo two component cells: a top n-i-p junction a-Si:Hi cell with wide-bandgap 1.8eV and a bottom n-p junction poly-Si cell with narrow-bandgap 1.1eV. The efficiency influencing factors of the solar cell were investigated in terms of simulation an experiment. Three main topics of the investigated study were the bottom cell with n-p junction poly-Si, the top a-Si:H cell with n-i-p junction, and the interface layer effects of heterojunction cell. The efficiency of bottom cell was improved with a pretreatment temperature of 900$^{\circ}C$, surface polishing, emitter thickness of 0.43$\mu\textrm{m}$, top Yb metal, and grid finger shading of 7% coverage. The process optimized cell showed a conversion efficiency about 16%. Top cell was grown by suing a photo-CVD system which gave an ion damage free and good p/i-a-Si:H layer interface. The heterojunction interface effect was examined with three different surface states; a chemical passivation, thermal oxide passivation, and Yb metal. the oxide passivated cell exhibited the higher photocurrent generation and better spectral response.

  • Ion sensitive field effect transistor (ISFET)는 전해질 속 각종 이온농도를 측정하는 반도체 이온 센서이다. 이 소자의 기본 구조는 metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET)에서 고안되었으며 게이트 컨택 부분이 기준전극과 전해질로 대체되어진 구조를 가지고 있다 [1]. ISFET는 기존의 반도체 CMOS 공정과 호환이 가능하고 제작이 용이할 뿐만 아니라, pH용액에 대한 빠른 반응 속도, 비표지 방식의 생체물질 감지능력, 낮은 단가 및 소자의 집적이 용이하다는 장점을 가지고 있다. ISFET pH센서의 감지특성에 결정하는 요소 중 가장 중요한 것은 소자의 감지막이라고 할 수 있다. 감지막은 감지 대상 물질과 물리적으로 직접 접촉되는 부분으로서 일반적으로 기계적/화학적 강도가 우수한 실리콘 산화막(SiO2)이 많이 사용되어져 왔다. 최근에는 기존의 SiO2 보다 성능이 향상된 감지막을 개발하기 위하여 Al2O3, HfO2, ZrO2, 그리고 Ta2O5와 같은 고유전 상수(high-k)를 가지는 물질들을 EIS 센서의 감지막으로 이용하는 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 하지만 지속적인 high-k 물질들에 대한 연구에도 불구하고 각각의 물질이 갖는 한계점이 드러났다. 본 연구에서는 SOI기판에서 SiO2 /HfO2 (OH), SiO2/Al2O3 (OA) 이단 적층 그리고 SiO2/HfO2/Al2O3 (OHA) 삼단적층 감지막을 갖는 ISFET을 제작하고 각 감지막의 특성을 평가하였다. 평가된 특성의 결과가 아래의 표1에 요약되었다. 그 결과, 각 high-k 물질이 갖는 한계점을 극복하기 위하여 제안된 OHA감지막은 기존에 OH, OA가 갖는 장점을 취하면서 단점을 최소화 시키는 최적화된 감지막의 감지특성을 보였다.

알긴산을 이용한 중금속 제거에 관한 연구 (A Study on Heavy Metal Removal Using Alginic Acid)

  • 다당류의 일종인 알긴산을 이용한 중금속 제거에 관한 연구가 수행되어졌다. 알긴산은 pH 4에서 480mg/g의 납 이온을 흡착하였으며 이것은 다른 생물흡착제에 비해서 약 2배 정도의 높은 흡착능이다. 납 이온에 대한 등온흡착선을 묘사하기 위하여 Langmuir model 식을 이용하였으며 실험결괴는 모델식에서 얻어진 결과와 잘 부합되었다. 온도가 증가함에 따라서 흡착능은 증가하였으며 이는 알긴산과 납 이온의 흡착은 흡열반응임을 보여준다. 납 이온의 흡착에 대한 알칼리 금속(칼슘, 마그네슘 이온)의 영향은 거의 없었으며 대부분의 흡착은 30분 내에 이루어졌다. 구리, 수은, 스트론튬, 세슘 과 같은 다른 금속 이온에 대한 흡착능도 조사되었다.

구형 초미립 금속산화물의 Carbothermal 환원에 의한 Sn-Sb계 분말 합성 및 리튬 이차 전지 음극재료 특성 평가 (Fabrication of Sn-Sb Based Powder by Carbothermal Reduction of Spherical Ultrafine Metal Oxides)

  • In this study, carbothermal reduction method was employed to synthesis Sn-Sb alloy powders from chief metal oxides with ultrafine sizes. The Sn-Sb powders consisting of ultrafine particles were formed at $800{\sim}900^{\circ}C$ by reduction of oxides. Those powders have high initial discharge capacities ($570{\sim}637\;mAh/g$) and discharge capacities of those powders maintain initial capacity after 20 cycle due to existence of ultrafine particles in powders and alloying effect of Sn-Sb.

  • Fundamental and informative data of axi-symmetric stretch-drawing of several sheetmetals with thicknesses of 0.7-1.0mm are presented both for single and double operations. Very small radius is applied to the die profile (or-shoulder) ion all operations. to induce wall-thinning by the effect of bending-under-tension from which the name 'stretch-drawing' comes. It is clearly demonstrated that deeper cups could be formed by single and double stretch-drawings from smaller circular blanks due to such wall-thinning action than in the usual deep-drawing of larger blanks, From this fact it is emphasized that the deep-drawability of a sheet metal is not evaluated simply by the conventional L.D.R (limiting drawing ratio) but the depth of the drawn cup should also be taken into account./ Many experimental data about various metals and thicknesses given in this paper offer a valuable information in this process for more general use which recommends to replace the conventional deep-drawing process by the stretch-drawing process both for single and double operations. In the single stretch-drawing it is also confirmed that a deeper cup can be produced by raising the blank-holding force at later stage of operation.

  • In the oligomerization of p-aminophenol under the catalytic action of the metallic complexes, the effects of the ligands are studied. When the initial velocity of $O_2$ uptake at pH 8 using Fe(Ⅲ) as the central metal and N-hydroxylethylethylenediaminetriacetic acid (HEDTA), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA), 1,2-cyclohexanediaminetetraacetic acid(CyDTA) as the ligands respectively are compared, the velocities are as the following order: HEDTA > EDTA > DTPA > CyDTA. Further when the effect of the ligands, nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA), HEDTA, EDTA, and DTPA, on the yields of oligomers are compared, the result shows as the following order: NTA > HEDTA > EDTA > DTPA. These are nearly reverse order of the stability constants of the complexes. In order to determine the composition of the mixed complexes at the initial step, the method of continuous variation is used, and it is found that the composition ratio of Fe-EDTA complex to monomer in the mixed complexes is one at pH 5-8 range. It is also found that at pH 9 or in the more alkaline range, side reactions occur to form water soluble dimer of quinone type and the catalytic action of the metallic complex markedly decreases on account of the hydrolysis of the central metal by the $OH^-$ ion.

Chlorellaellipsoidea로 부터 polyphosphate phosphohydrolase의 분리, 정제 및 성질 (Purification and properties of polyphosphate phosphohydrolase from chlorella ellipsoidea)

  • The presence of polyphosphate phosphohydrolase (PPPH) and tripolyphosphate phosphohydrolase (TPPH) in Chlorella ellipsoidea were confirmed from the cell-free extract of the algal cells and three forms of PPPH were isolated, purified, and measured Km-Vmax value and inhibitory effect by metal ions, respectively. PPPH was most active at pH7.2, whereas TPPH at pH 7.6. Both enzymes exhibited their maximum activity at $37^{\circ}C$. For the manifestation of catalytic activity, divalent, divalent metal ions are needed, and the best activator for both enzymes was $Co^{++}\;ions\;(10^{-3}M)$. These enzymes were inhibited by $Hg^{++}\;ions\;(10^{-3}M)$ considerably. PPPH from Chlorella ellipsoidea was purified by ammonium sulfate fractionation, ion-exchange chromatography on DEAE-Sephadex A-25, and gel filtration on Sephadex G-100, and some properties of the three different fraction with PPPH activity $(PPPH_1,\;PPPH_2,\;and\;PPPH_3)$ were found, i.e, PPPH has multiple form. The Km values of $PPPH_1,\;PPPH_2,\;and\;PPPH_3$ obstained were $6.25{\times}10^{-4}M,\;10^{-4}M-4/M,\;and\;3.33{times}10^{-4}M$ and Vmax were 3.33 mM/min, 3.33 mM/min, and 2.67 mM/min, respectively. It was shown that the types of inhibition of $Hg^{++} on the activities of three forms of PPPH were competitive inhibition.

Fluorescence Quenching of Norfloxacin by Divalent Transition Metal Cations

  • Fluorescence quenching of norfloxacin (NOR) by Cu2+, Ni2+, Co2+ and Mn2+ was studied in water. The change in the fluorescence intensity and lifetime was measured as a function of quencher concentration at various temperatures. According to the Stern-Volmer plots, the NOR was quenched both by collisions and complex formation with the same quencher. However, the static quenching had a more important effect on the emission. Large static and dynamic quenching constants support significant ion-dipole and orbital-orbital interactions between NOR and cations. The both quenching constants by Cu2+ were the largest among quenchers. Also, quenching mechanism of Cu2+ was somewhat different. The change in the absorption spectra due to the quencher provided information on static quenching. The fluorescence of NOR was relatively insensitive to both the dynamic and static quenching compared with other quinolone antibiotics. This property can be explained by the twisted intramolecular charge transfer.

다양한 자원으로부터 은의 화학적 침출 (Chemical Leaching of Silver from Diverse Resources)

  • 은은 특수한 물성을 지니고 있으며 첨단소재용 원료로 사용된다. 따라서 첨단소재를 제조하는데 필요한 고순도 은을 다양한 자원으로부터 회수하는 공정을 개발하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 여러 자원으로부터 은의 침출을 위해 개발된 공정을 조사하였다. 무기산(질산과 황산)과 무기산 및 산화제(오존, 산소, 과산화수소, 3가 철이온)의 혼합용액에 의한 은의 침출공정의 장단점을 비교하였다. 또한 thiourea와 thiosulfate에 의한 은의 침출과 무기산에 의한 침출에 대해 환경에 미치는 영향을 중심으로 비교하였다.

Biosorptive capacity of Cd(II) and Pb(II) by lyophilized cells of Pleurotus eryngii

  • last few decades. In this study, the lyophilized cells of Pleurotus eryngii (mushroom) were used as an inexpensive biosorbent for Cd(II) and Pb(II) removal from aqueous solutions. The effect of various physicochemical factors on Cd(II) and Pb(II) biosorption such as pH (2.0-7.0), initial metal concentration ($0.0-300mg\;L^{-1}$), temperature, fungal biomass and contact time (0-120 min) were studied. Optimum pH for removal of Cd(II) and Pb(II) was 6.0, and the contact time was 45 min at room temperature. The nature of biosorbent and metal ion interaction was evaluated by Infrared (IR) spectroscopic technique. IR analysis of mushroom biomass revealed the presence of amino, carboxyl, hydroxyl and methyl groups, which are responsible for biosorption of Cd(II) and Pb(II). The maximum adsorption capacities of P. eryngii for Pb(II) and Cd(II) calculated using Langmuir adsorption isotherm were 82.0 and $16.13mg\;g^{-1}$, respectively. The adsorption isotherms for two biosorbed heavy metals were fitted well with Freundlich isotherm as well as Langmuir model with correlation coefficient ($r^2$>0.99). Thus, this study indicated that the P. eryngii is an efficient biosorbent for the removal of Cd(II) and Pb(II) from aqueous solutions.
