  • The rare metals, used for semiconductors, PDP-LCS and other specialized metal areas necessarily, has been playing a key role for the Korean economic development. Rare metals are influenced by exogenous variables, such as production quantity, price and supplied areas. Nowadays the supply base of rare metals is threatened by the sudden increase in price. For the stable supply of rare metals, a rational demand outlook is needed. In this study, focusing on the domestic demand for chromium, the uncertainty and probability materializing from demand and price is analyzed, further, a demand forecast model, which takes into account various exogenous variables, is suggested, differing from the previously static model. Also, through the OOS(out-of-sampling) method, comparing to the preexistence ARIMA model, ARMAX model, multiple regression analysis model and ECM(Error Correction Mode) model, we will verify the superiority of suggested model in this study.

  • This study aims to assess the effectiveness of limestone, zeolite, and crushed concrete as capping material to block the release of heavy metals (As, Cu, Cr, Ni, and Pb) and reduce the sediment oxygen demand. The efficiency of limestone, zeolite, and crushed concrete was evaluated in a reactor in which a 1-cm thick layer of capping materials was placed on the sediments collected from Inchon north harbor. Dissolved oxygen concentration and heavy metal concentration in seawater above the uncapped sediments and capping material were monitored for 17 days. The sediment oxygen demand was in the following increasing order: crushed concrete ($288.37mg/m^2{\cdot}d$) < zeolite ($428.96mg/m^2{\cdot}d$) < limestone ($904.53mg/m^2{\cdot}d$) < uncapped ($981.34mg/m^2{\cdot}d$). The capping materials could reduce the sediment oxygen demand by blocking the release of biochemical matters consuming dissolved oxygen in seawater. It was also shown that zeolite and crushed concrete could effectively block the release of Cu, Ni, and Pb but those were not effective for the interruption of As and Cr release from marine contaminated sediments.

  • It is almost impossible to secure the reproductibility and stability of a commercial Thick-Film Metal Oxide Semiconductor Gas Sensor since it is very difficult to keep the consistency of the manufacturing environment. Thus it is widely known that the general Semiconductor-Oxide Gas Sensors are not appropriate for precise measurement systems. In this paper, the output characteristic analyzer of the various Thick-Film Metal Oxide Semiconductor Gas Sensors that are used to recognize the air quality within an automobile are proposed and examined. The analyzed output characters in a normal air chamber are grouped by sensor ranks and used to fill out the characteristic table of the Thick-Film Metal Oxide Semiconductor Gas Sensors. The characteristic table is used to determine the rank of the sensor that is equipped in the current air cleaner system of an automobile. The proposed air control system can also adapt the on-demand operation that recognizes the history of the passenger's manual-control.

  • Transparent LED display is providing city residents with different attractions via information services and landscape and increasing demand is detected in various areas. It is true that majority of the current demand in transparent electrode material was found and used in ITO but limitations in capacity and economic efficiency led to the need for continuous research and technology development via new materials. As a new material, metal mesh has 85% of the materials to substitute ITO and is widely used due to low-cost and high-conductive rate. Maintenance of transparent LED display utilizing metal mesh compared to existing ITO transparent display is much easier as it not only saves resources but is also economical. Thus the objective of this paper lies in proposing the utilization of metal mesh in transparent LED display prototype to enable economical use of transparent LED display technology and to expand the market and to also propose transparent LED display development method via metal mesh and manufacture a prototype based on the method. And a characteristic comparison test between ITO and metal mesh provides the possibility of using metal mesh as a transparent electrode material in transparent LED display development.

  • For analyzing resources demand appropriately, corresponding demand data is essential. But it is hard to get the suitable data of each resource demand, because every resources has various type as refined and many kind of alloyed. That reason makes many analyses to employ the data of refined metals as the representative quantity. But those refined metals are factors for producing final goods so those in domestic market are not always meant for producing domestic end goods. Thus in this paper, the domestic demands of refined copper, lead and zinc are analyzed empirically with 'intensity of use' and foreign countries' income variable applied model for recovering the data availability.
