In this study, zeolites were synthesized by a fusion and a hydrothermal methods using a coal fly ash and a waste catalyst. The recovery performance of metal ions on the structure property of synthetic zeolites was evaluated as comparing the adsorption kinetics (Lagergen 2nd order model) and isotherm (Langmuir model) of $Co^{2+},\;Ni^{2+}$, and $Cu^{2+}$ ions. The synthetic zeolites (Z-C1 and Z-W5) were similarly assigned to XRD peaks in a reagent grade Na-A zeolite (Z-WK : $Na_{12}Al_{12}Si_{12}O_{48}\;27.4H_2O$). Adsorption rates of Z-W5 and Z-C1 were in the order of $Cu^{2+}\;>\;Co^{2+}\;>\;Ni^{2+}\;and\;Ni^{2+}\;>\;Cu^{2+}\;>\;Co^{2+}$, respectively. They had influenced upon structure properties of zeolite. Selectivities of metal ions and maximum equilibrium adsorption capacities, $q_{max}$, in Z-C1 and Z-W5 were in the order of $Ni^{2+}$ (127.9 mg/g) > $Cu^{2+}$ (94.7 mg/g) > $Co^{2+}$ (82.6 mg/g) and $Cu^{2+}$ (141.3 mg/g) > $Co^{2+}$ (122.2 mg/g) > $Ni^{2+}$ (87.6 mg/g), respectively. The results show that the synthetic zeolites, Z-C1 and Z-W5, are able to recover metal ions selectively in wastewater.

In this paper, a number of supported metal oxides and perovskite type catalysts were investigated for the NOx reduction from the diesel engine exhaust gas. All catalysts were made into pellets type with diameter of 3-4 mm alumina(Al$_2$O$_3$) as a supporter. These samples were tested by real diesel exhaust gas which contains CO, hydrocarbons and soot in the temperature range of 150~55$0^{\circ}C$ with the $3300h^{-1}$ space velocity (SV). Among the results, several promising catalysts showed NOx conversion above 50% in the temperature range of 150-35$0^{\circ}C$. From these results supported metal oxides catalysts and perovskite type could be recommended for the practical application to the automobile exhaust treatments.
The electrochemical chlorine evolution reaction (CER) is an important electrochemical reaction and has been widely used in chlor-alkali electrolysis, on-site generation of ClO-, and Cl2-mediated electrosynthesis. Although precious metal-based mixed metal oxides (MMOs) have been used as CER catalysts for more than half a century, they intrinsically suffer from a selectivity problem between the CER and parasitic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Hence, the design of selective CER electrocatalysts is critically important. In this review, we provide an overview of the fundamental issues related to the electrocatalysis of the CER and design strategies for selective CER electrocatalysts. We present experimental and theoretical methods for assessing the active sites of MMO catalysts and the origin of the scaling relationship between the CER and the OER. We discuss kinetic analysis methods to understand the kinetics and mechanisms of CER. Next, we summarize the design strategies for new CER electrocatalysts that can enhance the reactivity of MMO-based catalysts and overcome their scaling relationship, which include the doping of MMO catalysts with foreign metals and the development of non-precious metal-based catalysts and atomically dispersed metal catalysts.

The catalytic steam reforming of toluene, a major component of biomass tar, was studied using several catalysts at various temperatures $400-800^{\circ}C$, kind of metal, and metal loading content. Ru and K promoted Ni-base catalyst were prepared, and used for steam reforming of toluene with steam/toluene molar ratio of 25. Concentration of toluene in reactant flow is $30g/Nm^3$ that is usual content of tar from biomass gasifier. The result from experiments showed that $H_2$ content in product gas and toluene conversion increased with temperature. Where in high temperature range, CO and $CO_2$ content in product gas were affected mainly by Boudouard reaction. Ni/Ru-K(3wt%)/$Al_2O_3$ catalyst showed best performance on steam reforming of toluene than used catalysts in this study at whole temperature. Catalysts have been characterized by XRD, TG. XRD analysis displayed that Ni particle size on Ni/Ru-K (3wt%)/$Al_2O_3$ catalyst was 29.4nm. Activation energy of Ni/Ru-K (3wt%)/$Al_2O_3$ catalyst was calculated 36.8kJ/mol by Arrhenius plot.

A series of experiments using atmospheric-pressure non-thermal plasma coupled with transition metal catalysts were performed to remove ethylene from agricultural storage facilities. The non-thermal plasma was created by dielectric barrier discharge, which was in direct contact with the catalyst pellets. The transition metals such as Ag and $V_2O_5$ were supported on ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$. The effect of catalyst type, specific input energy (SIE) and oxygen content on the removal of ethylene was examined to understand the behavior of the hybrid plasma-catalytic reactor system. With the other parameters kept constant, the plasma-catalytic activity for the removal of ethylene was in order of $V_2O_5/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ > $Ag/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ > ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ from high to low. Interestingly, the rate of plasma-catalytic ozone generation was in order of $V_2O_5/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ > ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ > $Ag/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$, implying that the catalyst activation mechanisms by plasma are different for different catalysts. The results obtained by varying the oxygen content indicated that nitrogen-derived reactive species dominated the removal of ethylene under oxygen-lean condition, while ozone and oxygen atoms were mainly involved in the removal under oxygen-rich condition. When the plasma was coupled with $V_2O_5/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$, nearly complete removal of ethylene was achieved at oxygen contents higher than 5% by volume (inlet ethylene: 250 ppm; gas flow rate: $1.0Lmin^{-1}$; SIE: ${\sim}355JL^{-1}$).
In this paper the selective reduction catalyst (SCR) for controlling the NOx at high temperature range was studied. XRD and FT-IR BET analysis was also performed to determine the structural properties and adsorption/desorption characteristics of the catalyst. In the case of anatase $TiO_2$ support, a negligible NOx conversion was observed, but the $W/TiO_2$ catalyst made using W as a active metal showed an excellent ability to remove NOx. In particular, the $W/TiO_2$ exhibited a rapid increase in the catalytic activity due to the presence of W for the NOx conversion compared to that of using the pure $TiO_2$ at a high temperature range over $400^{\circ}C$. In addition, the phenomenon of reduced reaction activity due to the heat shock for a long time was found to be suppressed.
The catalytic activity and selectivity of metal loaded H-mordenite for transalkylation of $C_9$ aromatics were studied in a continuous flow fixed bed reactor under high pressure. Nickel loaded H-mordenite(T-Ni) catalyst showed high activity and slow decay of activity. Molybdenum and nickel loaded H-mordenite(T-NiMo) catalyst also showed high activity and suppressed coking of hydrocarbons. The selectivity of xylene for T-Ni and T-NiMo catalysts decreased with temperature, but that for T catalyst(commercial grade) monotonically increased with temperature within the experimental range. The performance of T-Ni and T-NiMo catalysts was better than that of T catalyst in terms of initial activity and its decay. The addition of Mo improved slightly stability of T-Ni catalyst.
In this study, an alkali metal Na was introduced into iron-based catalysts used in the carbon dioxide-based Fischer-Tropsch process by wet impregnation and physical mixing methods to compare their performance. The as-prepared catalysts were evaluated for reactivity at 3.5 MPa, 330 ℃, feed ratio of H2/CO2 = 3 with a space velocity of 4,000 mL h-1 gcat-1. Comparing the two catalysts, it was found that Na was uniformly distributed throughout the catalyst when wet-impregnated, but Na for physically mixed catalyst was relatively located on the surface of the catalyst. In addition, the wet-impregnated catalyst showed higher liquid hydrocarbon (C5+) yield and lower CO selectivity. In conclusion, the effect of Na distribution in the catalyst on the reaction was identified and can be controlled by the introduction method.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the emission reduction characteristics depending on the formation of the catalyst which influences the development of the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) suitable for small-sized diesel engines. We also attempted to suggest the feasibility of it as an after-treatment device. The reduction efficiency of DOC for CO and HC was proportional to the contents of precious metals, and the particulate matter (PM) has been reduced as much as 53∼59%. The reduction rate of soluble organic fraction (SOF) by DOC attachment revealed 100%. The composition of sulfate in PM increased from 3%, 7∼11% by installation of DOC. It is described that increase of sulfate contributed to the production of PM. This result also showed that the SOF and sulfate have trade-off relationship.
