  • The messages on mobile terminal may contain context information such as user's location, time and preference. This paper proposes message forwarding system based on user's context. The server stores the predefined target addresses which may be mobile phone number, web server address and email address. On request for message transmission, the server tries to find a target address matching a user's context. Thus, a sender transmits messages to a representative address without knowing various receiver's addresses and a receiver can retrieve classified messages according to subject/location.

  • Networked virtual environments (NVEs) are distributed systems where geographically dispersed users interact with each other in virtual worlds by exchanging network messages. Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) is one of diverse applications where more than hundreds of users enjoy experiencing virtual worlds. A limited area called area of interest (AOI) in MMOG is reduced the load caused by message exchange between users. Voronoi-based Overlay Network (VON) is proposed to reduce the bandwidth consumption in P2P environments and Vorocast also is made using message forwarding in VON. We propose a dynamic AOI management method that solves problems such as a consistency and latency due to forwarding position updates to neighbor nodes from the message originator in forwarding scheme. Our scheme provides the consistency and reduces latency by combining direct connection scheme and Vorocast scheme compared to existing schemes. The communication between a user and users existing in center circle within AOI of the user is directly connected and the communication between the user and users existing outside the center area within AOI is using Vorocast scheme. The proposed model is evaluated through simulations.

  • Flooding based routing protocols are usually used to disseminate information in wireless sensor networks. Those approaches, however, require message retransmissions to all nodes and induce huge collision rate and high energy consumption. In this paper, HoGoP (Hop based Gossiping Protocol) in which all nodes consider the number of hops from sink node to them, and decide own gossiping probabilities, is introduced. A node can decide its gossiping probability according to the required average reception percentage and the number of parent nodes which is counted with the difference between its hop and neighbors' ones. Therefore the decision of gossiping probability for network topology is adaptive and this approach achieves higher message reception percentage with low message retransmission than the flooding scheme. Through simulation, we compare the proposed protocol with some previous ones and evaluate its performance in terms of average reception percentage, average forwarding percentage, and forwarding efficiency. In addition, average reception percentage is analyzed according to the application requirement.

  • DTN flooding based routing protocol replicate the message copy to increase the delivery like hood that overloads the network resources. The probabilistic routing protocols reduce replication cost by forwarding the message to a node that holds high predictability value to meet its destination. However, the network traffic converges to high probable nodes and produce congestion that triggers the drop of previously stored messages. In this paper, we have proposed a routing protocol called as Connection frequency Buffer Aware Routing Protocol (CFBARP) that uses an adaptive method to maintain the information about the available buffer space at the receiver before message transmission. Furthermore, a frequency based method has been employed to determine the connection recurrence among nodes. The proposed strategy has performed well in terms of reducing message drop, message relay while increases the delivery probability.

  • A greedy forwarding algorithm is one of the most suitable solutions for routing in vehicular ad-hoc networks. Compared to conventional routing protocols for mobile ad-hoc networks, greedy forwarding based routing protocols maintain only local information of neighbors instead of per-destination routing entries, and thus they show better performance in highly-mobile vehicular ad-hoc networks. With greedy forwarding, each node learns its geographical position and periodically broadcasts a beacon message including its position information. Based on the position information, each node selects a neighbor node located closest to the destination node as the next forwarder. One of the most serious problems in greedy forwarding is the lost link problem due to the mobility of nodes. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to reduce the lost link problem. The proposed algorithm aims to find an efficient and stable routing path by taking account of the position of neighbors and the last beacon reception time. Our simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the legacy greedy algorithm and its variants.

  • The purpose of sensor network is gathering the information from sensor nodes. If there are selfish node that deliberately avoid packet forwarding to save their own energy, the sensor network has trouble to collect information smoothly. To solve this problem we suggest a mechanism which uses credit payment schema according to the amount of forwarding packets. Sensor nodes use credits to send their own message and they forward packets of other sensor nodes to get credits. To offer authenticity we combined the roles of sink node and server, also we used piggybacking not to send additional report message. The packet trace route is almost fixed because sensor node doesn't have mobility. In this case, it happens that some sensor nodes which don't receive forwarding packets therefore they can't get credit. So, we suggested the way to give more credits to these sensor nodes. Finally, we simulated the suggested mechanism to evaluate performance with ns2(network simulator). As a result, packet transmission rate was kept on a high rate and the number of arrival packets to sink node was increased. Also, we could verify that more sensor nodes live longer due to deceasing the energy consumption of sensor nodes.

  • Internet traffic is getting tremendously heavier due to the exponential growth of the Internet users, the spread of the E-commerce and the network games. High-speed routers for fast packet forwarding are commercially available to satisfy the growing bandwidth. A high-speed router, which has the decentralized multiprocessing architecture for IP and routing functions, consists of host processors, line interfaces and switch fabrics. In this paper, we propose a software architecture tuned for high-speed non-forwarding packet manipulation. IPCMP (Inter-Processor Communication Message Protocol), which is a mechanism for IPC (Inter-Processor Communication), is also proposed and implemented as well. Proposed IPC mechanism results in faster packet-processing rate by 10% as compared to the conventional IPC mechanism using UDP/IP.

  • In these days, along with the extreme popularity of online social network services, it becomes an important problem understanding the role of social network in the research of message dissemination. Past studies of message dissemination over online social network services mostly consider the coverage of message dissemination and the methods to maximize it. But, these works lack of the consideration of the impact of multi channel social network, which has multiple communication channel with distinct properties of message transfer and various users with distinct channel preferences. In this paper, the new message dissemination model over multi-modal multi-channel social network, the Delay Weighted Independent Cascade Model, is proposed. The proposed model considers various channels including online social network service, email, SMS messaging, phone and mouth-to-mouth and their distinct message transfer properties. In order to consider the various user properties, the different value of probability of forwarding a message and the different preference of communication channel is considered. Moreover, the proposed model considers the distribution of user location and allows to analyze the properties of message dissemination under various scenarios. Based on the proposed model, a message dissemination simulator is generated and the message disseminations on various scenarios are analyzed.

  • A number or MPLS ATM switching system have been proposed to increase the access speed or current routers, but they cannot satisfy the Internet users who use diverse applications. So they are required to support the so-called differential service, which discriminates service behaviors according to the service class. In this paper, to support this differential service we suggest an LSP control method, which uses the extended LDP message and establishes several different LSPs for each FEC according to the service class. Also, we propose an marking algorithm using the cell loss priority field or ATM cells in order to process the differential service according to application categories. In addition, we present a forwarding procedure based on the LSP control method and the marking algorithm. A forwarding model applied this forwarding procedure can be easily implemented with a minimum modification of existing MPLS ATM switching systems. Therefore, we can save cost and time needed to implement the proposed model. Finally, we estimate the performance behaviors of the proposed application-based forwarding model by the AweSim simulation package.
