Effect of the Cinema Therapy Program for Middle-Aged Women with Depression (우울증 중년여성을 위한 영화치료 프로그램의 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to measure the effect of REBT based cinema therapy program on depression, self-esteem, emotional expression and interpersonal relationship of depressed middle-aged women. The subjects of study were 44 middle-aged women with depression who were registered in the mental health center of G city (experimental group 23, control group 21). Data were analyzed using ${\chi}^2$-test, Fisher's exact test, t-test. The results of study suggested that the REBT-based cinema therapy was effective nursing intervention to reduce depression and improve self-esteem, emotional expression and interpersonal relationship skill in middle-aged women with depression. Therefore, REBT-based cinema therapy program could be used as a community psychosocial rehabilitation nursing intervention program.

  • Various types of functional bedding for inducing and maintaining sleep, are developed and launched with the importance of improving health through sleep emphasized currently. The purpose of this study is to examine development status and direction of functional bedding in the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution era, through systematic classification of elements of IoT-based smart bedding cases actively developed as functional bedding at home and abroad. Through previous research, literature and Internet data, characteristics and functional extension of smart bedding and the background of smart bed development was analyzed. And it was analyzed that smart bedding pursues recent functionalism and convergence of physical and digital concept such as IoT or AI, and also mental value to improve sleep quality. As bedroom where smart bedding place in has the private and limited characteristics and users are in sleep-conscious, that hard to ensure power and discomfort in carrying are moderated and the aesthetic elements are not very important, and that the smart bedding performance while sleeping were affected on developmental background. Based on CES case study and analysis on how smart beds are functionally expanded from conventional bedding, smart beds have gained information through digital sensing, and common properties that can be controlled anytime, anywhere, using a smart phone. Some set up the right environment and pose, while others stimulate nerves directly as active intervention. It is expected that smart bedding will be developed to cure user's body and mind, through active intervention when sleeping.

The Relationship between Leisure and Social Activities, Life Satisfaction, and Happiness of the Disabled : Focusing on the Time Before and After COVID-19 (장애인의 여가사회활동, 생활만족도, 행복의 관계 :COVID-19 전후 시점을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of the changes between leisure and social activities, life satisfaction, and happiness of the disabled according to the time before and after COVID-19, and to examine the moderating effect of living alone. For the analysis, the data of 3,773 persons from the employment panel for the disabled were used for the analysis, and as a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the decrease in leisure and social activities further reinforced the decrease in life satisfaction, and consequently the decrease in happiness also increased. In addition, it was found that the effect of leisure social activities on life satisfaction increases according to living alone. In other words, the decrease in leisure and social activities of the disabled led to a decrease in life satisfaction and decreased happiness. Through these results, although social distancing is important, support such as online gatherings, participation in cultural and artistic activities, and education is necessary as an intervention in reducing leisure and social activities, which can be an important protective factor in the lives of the disabled. Furthermore, it was suggested that screening for mental health and intervention for persons with disabilities living alone are necessary in case management of persons with disabilities.

  • This study was attempted to improve the mental and psychological health of nursing students through the intervention of positive psychological programs using complementary alternative therapy. This study applied a Non-equivalent control group pre-test and post-test design to verify the effects of negative emotions, career decision making self-efficacy, self-compassion, and flourish in nursing students. The experimental group is the students who received the positive psychology program using complementary and alternative therapy, and the control group is the students who did not receive the program. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS Version 21.0 program. The experimental group showed higher career decision making self-efficacy, self-compassion, and flourish scores and lower negative emotion scores than the control group that did not participate in the education. After applying the positive psychology program using complementary and alternative therapy, it contributed to the expansion of the nursing intervention area using complementary and alternative therapy by reporting positive research effects on career decision making self-efficacy, self-compassion, and flourish.

Development of the Educational Program for Prevention of Sexual Abuse in Children (어린이 성희롱/성폭력 예방교육 프로그램 개발)

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study is to develop an educational program to prevent sexual abuse of children and to improve the physical and mental health of children by providing a rape-free environment and safety education. This program will provide parents and children with information on how to prevent sexual abuse in children. Children learn specific methods to avoid being victimized both at home and outside the home through a learning game and simulation, which is based on problem solving. Method: This program was developed based on a literature reviews, surveys and negotiation process. School- aged-children, parents, and teachers were interviewed to reveal their educational needs based on their experiences related to sexual abuse. Result: This program includes useful subjects such as safety education, early detection of sexual abuse, crisis management, resource persons, and phone numbers of available hospital. Counseling is provided by researcher or by a pediatric psychiatrist if needed. Conclusion: This program could be adequately utilized for prevention of sexual abuse of children. It also will provide an intervention strategy for abused children. This educational program was distributed to all of the elementary school through the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development.

Effect of Group Therapy on Psychological Symptoms and Quality of Life in Turkish Patients with Breast Cancer

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of the group therapy on psychological symptoms and quality of life of patients with early stage breast cancer. Methods: This study was performed on 16 breast cancer patients who completed treatments. The total group therapy program involved a weekly session of 2-3 hours, for 16 weeks. The group therapy sessions were given to women in the oncology department by a clinical psychologist and also given training sections by the different professional teams. All the required assessments for the study were performed after and before 16 week group therapy intervention. Results: Initially we had taken 21 women but 16 participated in all therapy programs and submitted questionnaires. The mean age was 47.8 years. There were significant differences between before and after group therapy program. Anxiety, depression, and distress showed significant improvements. Hopelessness scale was detected at the border of significance. There was no change in sleep problems and quality of life. According to the analysis of correlation, considering the age factor and year of diagnosis, there was found no statistically significant relationship between anxiety, distress, depression, hopelessness, sleeplessness, and quality of life. Conclusions: This pilot study demonstrated that brief, predominantly group therapy is feasible for patients with breast cancer and, also it may be helpful to cope with emotional and physical distress.

Factors Influencing Suicidal Ideation in Girls' High School Students (여고생의 자살사고 영향 요인)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify factors which influence suicidal ideation in students in girls' high schools. Methods: The participants were 202 students attending a girls' high school and a specialized girls' high school in D city. Data were collected from October 8 to December 23, 2013. Research tools were suicidal ideation, existential spiritual well-being, interpersonal relations, and depression. Data were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA with Scheffe-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression by stepwise selection with SPSS/WIN 12.0. Results: Suicidal ideation was negatively correlated with existential spiritual well-being, interpersonal relations, and positively correlated with depression. Effective variables were depression (${\beta}=0.54$, p<.001), existential spiritual well-being (${\beta}=-0.22$, p=.001), and grades (${\beta}=-0.10$, p=.042). These variables explained 52% of the variance in suicidal ideation. Conclusion: Based on the outcomes of this study, it is necessary to design an intervention program that teachers and community mental health nurses can use to increase existential spiritual well-being and decrease the depression and suicidal ideation for students in girls' high schools.

The Relationship between Social Support and Infertility Stress in Infertile Men (불임 남성의 사회적 지지와 불임 스트레스간의 관계)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships between social support and infertility stress in infertile men. Method: Participants were 120 infertile men in a hospital located S city Korea. The structured questionnaire included social support scale, fertility problem inventory scale. The data were examined using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation with SPSS 25.0. Results: Social support was significantly correlated with infertility stress(r=-.32, p=<.001). Conclusion: Based on this study, infertility stress could be decreased by social support improvement in infertile men. Theses results suggests that infertile men need nursing intervention to minimize infertility stress by promoting social support.

Effect of Family Cohesion, Subjective Happiness and other Factors on Death Anxiety in Korean Elders (가족응집력과 주관적 행복감이 한국 노인의 죽음불안에 미치는 영향요인)

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to explore the effects of family cohesion and subjective happiness on death anxiety of Korean elders and to identify other factors contributing to death anxiety. Methods: The participants were 280 elders who lived in P metropolitan city. Data were collected between November 5, 2011 and January 12, 2012 using the Short Portable Mental Status Questionnaire (SPMSQ), Family Cohesion Evaluation Scale, Subjective Happiness Scale, and Fear of Death Scale (FODS). Data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 19.0 program. Results: Family cohesion, marital status, religious activity, perceived health status, and subjective happiness were included in the factors affecting death anxiety of Korean elders. These variables explained 50.1% of death anxiety. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that these variables should be considered in developing nursing intervention programs to decrease death anxiety and increase family cohesion and subjective happiness for life integration in Korean elders.

Psychiatric Problems in the Student Victims of School Violence and Their Parents (학교폭력 피해학생과 부모의 정신의학적 문제)

  • Objectives : This study was conducted in order to investigate the influences of school violence on the mental health of student victims and their parents. Methods : A total of 56 (aged 7-18) student victims and their parents were selected to participate in a survey. The students had experienced school violence from June 2012 to October 2013. They completed a set of self-report questionnaires, including socio-demographic characteristics, family relationship, Impact of Event Scale-Revised, Child Depression Inventory (CDI), Beck Depression Inventory, Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale, and Parental Bonding Instrument to evaluate psychiatric complications and to understand the emotional bonding between them. Results : The student's level of impact of event was significantly related to the parent's level of impact of event (p<.001). The student's high CDI score showed positive correlation with high level of impact of event (p<.001). In addition, higher level of the student's perceived emotional support and understandability of family showed association with lower level of impact of event (p<.01, p<.05). Conclusion : The results of this study suggest that the psychiatric sequelae of school violence is seriously affected by family support and parent's level of impact of event. Therefore, more active intervention is needed for both students and their parents.
