  • Due to acceleration of the IT industry and the environment for a variety of media in modern society, such as real-time video images 3D-TV is a very important issue. These high-quality live video is being applied to various fields such as CCTV footage has become an important performance parameters. However, these high quality images, even vulnerable because of shortcomings secure channel or by using various security algorithms attempt to get rid of these disadvantages are underway very active. These shortcomings, this study added extra security technologies to reduce the processing speed image processing itself, but by adding security features to transmit real-time processing and security measures for improving the present.

  • In this paper, we have developed a system for monitoring and processing the real time sensor data in remote site through Internet. For realizing this system, measurement equipment and protocol are used to transmit the measurement data to remote server and to process measurement data. In server part, the received data from remote site sensor is converted to text or graphic charts for user. The measurement device in sensor part receives the sensor data form sensor and store the received data to its internal memory for transmitting data to server part through Internet. Also the measurement device can receive data form server. The temperature sensor is corrected to the measurement device located in laboratory and the measurement device measures temperature of laboratory which can be confirmed by user through Internet. We have developed a server program working on the Linux to store measurement data from measurement device to server memory. The program is use for SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) to exchange data with measurement device. Also the program changes the measurement data into text and graphic charts for user display. The program is use apache PHP program for user display and inquiry. The real time temperature measurement system can be applly for many parts of industry and living.

  • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is an automatic identification method. Information such as identification, logistics history, and specification of products are written and stored into the memory of RFID tags (that is, transponders), and retrieved through RF communication between RFID reader device and RFID tags. RFID systems have been applied to many fields of transportation, industry, logistics, environment, etc in order to improve business efficiency and reduce maintenance cost as well. Recently, some research results are announced in which RFID devices are combined with other sensors for mobile robot localization. In this paper, design of multi-protocol baseband for RFID reader device is proposed, and the baseband modem is implemented into SoC (System On a Chip). The baseband modem SoC for multi-protocol RFID reader is composed of several IP (Intellectual Property) blocks such as multi-protocol blocks, CPU, UART(Universal Asynchronous Receiver and Transmitter), memory, etc. As a result, the SoC implemented with FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) is applied to real product. It is shown that the size of RFID Reader module designed with the FPGA becomes smaller, and the SoC chip price for the same function becomes cheap. In addition, operation performance could be the same or better than that of the product with no SoC applied.

  • Automation systems are evolving in many areas of industry in recent years. At the same time, the necessity of the height inspection of the object by the 3D measurement is gradually increasing. Among the various 3D measurement methods, this paper discusses phase measuring profilometry(PMP). The PMP is a method of obtaining the height of an object using the phase value of the fringe pattern. Since the PMP is an algorithm requiring a large amount of computation, a method for efficiently solving the problem is needed. In this paper, we propose to use CUDA from NVIDIA to solve this problem. We also propose using pinned memory and streams provided by CUDA. This can greatly improve the measurement speed while maintaining accuracy. Finally, we demonstrate the performance of the proposed method through experiments.

  • In the semiconductor industry the memory and chip were developed to high density memory and high performance chip, so circuit design was also high integrated and the test bed was needed to be thin and fine pitch socket. LGA(Land Grid Array) IC socket with thin wall thickness was designed to satisfy this requirement. The LGA IC socket plastic part was manufacture by injection molding process, it was needed accuracy, stiffness and suit resin with high flowability. After injection molding process the side gates were needed to remove for further assembly process. ln this study, the cold press cutting process was applied to remove the gates. For design of punch and die, the cold press cutting analysis was implemented by$DEFORM-2D^{TM}$ ln consideration of the simulation results, an adequate punch and die was designed and made for the cutting unit. In order to verify the performance of cutting process, the roughness of cutting section of the part was measured and was satisfied in requirement.

  • This paper deals with design and verification of an arithmetic logic unit(ALU) to be used for development of optical computers. The ALU is based on optical switching device, $LiNbO_3$, which is easy to interface with electronic technology and most common in the market. It consists of an arithmetic/logic circuit performing logic operations, memory devices storing operands and the results of operations, and supplementary circuits to select instruction codes, and operates in bit-serial manner. In addition, a simulator is developed for verification of the design, and a set of basic instructions are executed in sequence and step-by-step changes in the accumulator and the memory are examined through simulations, to show that various operations are performed correctly.

  • Tuned mass damper is widely used in many applications of industry. The main advantage of tuned mass damper is that it can increase the damping ratio of system and reduce the vibration amplitude. Meanwhile, the natural frequency of system will be divided by two peaks, and the peak speeds are closely related to the mass and the stiffness of auxiliary mass system added. In addition, the damping ratio will also affect the peak frequency of the dynamic response. In the present research, the nonlinear mechanical characteristics of rubber is investigated and put into use, since it is usually manufactured as the spring element of tuned mass damper. By the sense of the nonlinear stiffness as well as the damping ratio which can be changed by preload applied on, the shape memory alloy is proposed to control the auxiliary mass system by self-optimizing. Supported by the experiment data of rubber, the 1 DOF theoretical model and finite element model based on computer simulation are implemented to perform the feasibility of the proposed semi-active tuned mass damper working on the drive shaft.

  • The research and development of an actuator are accelerating in the robotics industry. The electricity polymer and SMA actuator are designed simply and are produced a lot of forces per unit volume. Their motions are similar to human's motion, But the repeatability of the electricity polymer actuator is lower. The reaction velocity of the SMA actuator is slow and the travel is short. In this paper, the dynamic characteristic of the segmented SMA is studied. The SMA wire is divided by using the Thermo-electric module(TEM) to control each of segments independently. The MOSFET circuit is used to supply constant currents fer the Thermo-electric module(TEM). The hysteresis and displacement of the SMA wire according to load are measured.

Neuroprotective Effects of Berberine in Neurodegeneration Model Rats Induced by Ibotenic Acid

  • Berberine, an isoquinoline alkaloid found in Coptidis Rhizoma(goldenthread) extract, has multiple pharmacological effects such as anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and anti-ischemic effects. In the present study, we examined the effects of berberine on neuronal survival and differentiation in a hippocampal precursor cell line and in the memory deficient rat model. Berberine increased in a dose dependent manner the survival of hippocampal precursor cells as well as differentiated cells. In addition, berberine promoted neuronal differentiation of hippocampal precursor cells. In the memory deficient rat model induced by stereotaxic injection of ibotenic acid into entorhinal cortex(Ibo model), hippocampal cells were increased about 2.7 fold in the pyramidal layer of CA1 region and about 2 fold in the dentate gyrus by administration of berberine after 2 weeks of ibotenic acid injection. Furthermore, neuronal cells immunoreactive to calbindin were increased in the hippocampus and entorhinal cortex area by administration of berberine. Taken together, these results suggest that berberine has neuroprotective effect in the Ibo model rat brain by promoting the neuronal survival and differentiation.

  • With the advent of flash memory based new storage device (SSD), there is considerable interest within the computer industry in using flash memory based storage devices for many different types of application. The dynamic index structure of large text collections has been a primary issue in the Information Retrieval Applications among them. Previous studies have proven the three approaches to be effective: In- Place, merge-based index structure and a combination of both. The above-mentioned strategies have been researched with the traditional storage device (HDD) which has a constraint on how keep the contiguity of dynamic data. However, in case of the new storage device, we don' have any constraint contiguity problems due to its low access latency time. But, although the new storage device has superiority such as low access latency and improved I/O throughput speeds, it is still not well suited for traditional dynamic index structures because of the poor random write throughput in practical systems. Therefore, using the experimental performance evaluation of various index maintenance schemes on the new storage device, we propose an efficient index structure for new storage device that improves significantly the index maintenance speed without degradation of query performance.
