In the present work computations are carried out for analysis of complicated sheet metal forming process such as forming of a rear hinge. Finite element formulation using dynamic explicit time integration scheme and step-wise combined Implicit/Explicit scheme are introduced for numerical analysis of sheet metal forming process. The rigid-plastic finite element method based on membrane elements has long been employed as a useful numerical technique for the analysis of sheet metal forming because of its time effectiveness. The explicit scheme in general use is based on the elastic-plastic modelling of material requiring large computation time. In finite element simulation of sheet metal forming processes, the robustness and stability of computation are important requirements since the computation time and convergency become major points of consideration besides the solution accuracy due to the complexity of geometry and boundary conditions. The implicit scheme employs a more reliable and rigorous scheme in considering the equilibrium at each step of deformation, while in the explicit scheme the problem of convergency is eliminated at the cost of solution accuracy. The explicit approach and the implicit approach have merits and demerits, respectively. In order to combine the merits of these two methods a step-wise combined implicit/explicit scheme has been developed.
Synthesis of poly[N-(formyloxyphenyl)maleimide](PFOMI) as photopolymer were investigated with various kinds of photosensitive groups. Generally, photopolyimide have some deficiencies in solubility, sensitivity, reserve stability of the photosensitive solution, and the precision of image pattern. The study has been required on those polymers which have high glass transition temperature and photo efficiency, and low dielectricity. The existing condensation resins require high curing temperature and perfect elimination of subreacted materials that are produced during the process after irradiation and various membrane damages such as the deformation and contraction in image pattern cure. In this study poly[N-(hydroxyphenyl)maleimide](PHPMI) was synthesized. The PHPMI were analyzed by H-NMR and FT-IR. The measured number average molecular weight of PHPMI was produced was $1.06{\times}10^4$. Poly[N-(formyloxyphenyl)maleimide](PFOMI) as a type of photo-Fries rearrangement was synthesized by NHPMI and formic acid followed by radical polymerization. PFOMI was analyzed by FT-IR, and photocharacteristics was investgated by UV spectra and FT-IR before and after UV irradiation. Based on the image characteristics of PFOMI measured from optical micrographs, it was formed that the resolution of positive type PFOMI was $0.5{\mu}m$.
We investigated about the utilization improvement of the PDMS and fluoropolymers by mutual application in environmental analysis. We were conducted the direct fluorination with mild condition on the PDMS films and analyzed its surfaces before and after fluorination. The results of FTIR and SEM analysis on the PDMS films showed that the film surfaces were fluorinated without irreversible deformation by the fluorination. During the fluorination, the measured contact angles of water and several alcohols on the PDMS films decreased with time and that of most alcohols decreased to 0 after 30 minutes. The surface energy of fluorinated PDMS films has increased by 2 times. Also, we investigated the influence factors on the change of permeation rate of water through PDMS tubes with time. It was observed that the change of permeation rate of water through PDMS tube was affected by temperature, water phase and spatial distribution of water. From these results, we could verify the principal causes of the decrease of permeation rate of water through PDMS tube with time and proposed a new experimental setup for reducing the variation of permeation rate of water less than 2%.

The micro device, coil, and channel for the biosensor integrated with the GMR-SV device based on the antiferromagnetic IrMn layer was fabricated by the light lithography process. When RBCs coupled with several magnetic beads with a diameter of $1{\mu}m$ passed on the micro channel, the movement of RBC + ${\mu}Beads$ is controlled by the electrical AC input signal. The RBC + ${\mu}Beads$ having a micro-magnetic field captured above the GMR-SV device is changed as the output signals for detection status. From these results, the GMR-SV device having the width magnitude of a few micron size can be applied as the biosensor for the analysis of a new magnetic property as the membrane's deformation of RBC coupled to magnetic beads.

Most important characteristics of calcareous sand are the particle angularity and hollow structure. These characteristics lead to the different behavior of calcareous sand compared to siliceous sand. This study performs a series of dilatometer test using calibration chamber, in order to analyze the effect of particle characteristic of calcareous sand on DMT indices. From experimental test, it is observed that the horizontal stress index($K_D$) and dilatometer modulus($E_D$) of calcareous Jeju sand is underestimated compared to siliceous sand. This is because the particle crushing during penetration induces the less contraction of the dilatometer membrane. A slightly smaller influence of particle crushing is reflected in $E_D$ rather than $K_D$, because $P_1$ pressure reflects the deformation characteristics of un-crushed particle relatively well. It is also observed that $K_D$ of Jeju sand is differently influenced by the vertical effective stress compared with that of siliceous sand.
The Element-Based Lagrangian Formulation of a 9-node resultant-stress shell element is presented for the isotropic and anisotropic composite material. The effect of the coupling term between the bending strain and displacement has been investigated in the warping problem. The strains, stresses and constitutive equations based on the natural co-ordinate have been used throughout the Element-Based Lagrangian Formulation of the present shell element which offers an advantage of easy implementation compared with the traditional Lagrangian Formulation. The element is free of both membrane and shear locking behavior by using the assumed natural strain method such that the element performs very well in thin shell problems. In composite plates and shells, the transverse shear stiffness is defined by an equilibrium approach instead of using the shear correction factor. The arc-length control method is used to trace complex equilibrium paths in thin shell applications. Several numerical analyses are presented and discussed in order to investigate the capabilities of the present shell element. The results showed very good agreement compared with well-established formulations in the literature.

In this paper a new truss modeling technique for describing the beam shear resistance mechanism is proposed based on the reinterpretation of the well-known relationship between shear and the rate of change of bending moment in a reinforced concrete beam subjected to combined shear and moment loads. The core of the model is that a new perspective on the shear resistance can be gained by viewing the internal stress filed in terms of the superposition of two base components of shear resistance; arch action and beam action. The arch action can be described as a simple tied-arch which is consisted of a curved compression chord and a tension tie of the longitudinal steel, while the beam action between the two chords can be modeled as a membrane shearing element with forming a smeared truss action. The compatibility of deformation associated to the two action is taken into account by employing an experimental factor or internal state force factor a. Then the base equation of V=dM/dx is numerically duplicated. The new model was examined by the 362 experimental results. The shear strength predicted by the internal force state factor a show better correlation with the tested values than the present shear design.

A general finite element method is developed to analyze reinforced concrete plates under dead loads and monotonically increasing live loads. This method can be used to trace the load-deformation response and crack propagation through elastic, inelastic and ultimate ranges. The internal concrete and steel stresses can also be determined for any stage of the response history. A layered 8 node isoparametric element taking account of coupling effect between the membrane and the bending action is developed. An incremental tangent stiffness method is used to obtain a numerical solution. Validity of the method is studied by comparing the numerical solutions with other results.
To investigate the difference in the disinfectant efficiency of ozone microbubbles ($O_3MB$) and ozone millibubbles ($O_3MMB$), the morphological change of the treated Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melonis spores was observed with scanning and transmission electron microscopies (SEM and TEM). The disinfectant efficiency of $O_3MB$ on F. oxysporum f. sp. melonis spores was greater than that of $O_3MMB$. On observation with SEM, it was revealed that morphological change of F. oxysporum f. sp. melonis spores was caused by $O_3MB$ and $O_3MMB$, and damage to the spore surfaces by $O_3MB$ occurred sooner than that by $O_3MMB$. On observation with TEM, it was furthermore confirmed that F. oxysporum f. sp. melonis spores treated with $O_3MB$ induced wavy deformation of cell membrane and the intracellular change different from that with $O_3MMB$. Therefore, the greater disinfection efficiency of $O_3MB$ was suggested to be caused due to the function of the MB in addition to the oxidative power of $O_3$.

Atom-thick graphene membrane and nano-sized graphene objects (NGOs) hold substantial potential for applications in future molecular-scale integrated electronics, transparent conducting membranes, nanocomposites, etc. To realize this potential, chemical properties of graphene need to be understood and diagnostic methods for various NGOs are also required. To meet these needs, chemical properties of graphene and optical diagnostics of graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) have been explored by Raman spectroscopy, AFM and STM scanning probes. The first part of the talk will illustrate the role of underlying silicon dioxide substrates and ambient gases in the ubiquitous hole doping of graphene. An STM study reveals that thermal annealing generates out-of-plane deformation of nanometer-scale wavelength and distortion in $sp^2$ bonding on an atomic scale. Graphene deformed by annealing is found to be chemically active enough to bind molecular oxygen, which leads to a strong hole-doping. The talk will also introduce Raman spectroscopy studies of GNRs which are known to have nonzero electronic bandgap due to confinement effect. GNRs of width ranging from 15 nm to 100 nm have been prepared by e-beam lithographic patterning of mechanically exfoliated graphene followed by oxygen plasma etching. Raman spectra of narrow GNRs can be characterized by upshifted G band and strong disorder-related D band originating from scattering at ribbon edges. Detailed analysis of the G, D, and 2D bands of GNRs proves that Raman spectroscopy is still a reliable tool in characterizing GNRs despite their nanometer width.
